  1. Anyone know why exactly they stopped making these?
  2. Come one... enough with the tease... you havent posted back in a few days... LOL Love the free flow, and the symmetrical side.... bottom part looks to be able 2 foot by 1 foot... you making a suit case?
  3. Thats very cool. Very good job, nice pictures too lol. I am wondering did you mold the leather out to make it bulge out for the tiger or is it like skived down around it or something. Very good work.
  4. Very nice, and welcome home! The leather complements the hilt very nicely. You did good.... now you have set the bar.... Thats one of the little things we dont tell noobs... if you set the bar high your first time out... thats what we expect from now on... Thats why I only post pix of my bad stuff... LOL Was this made for yourself?
  5. LOL, Hot damn that is just too cool! I know so many women/girls who would literally fight over that it isnt funny!
  6. They look like frickin sew on patches made off an embroidering machine.... Sweet!
  7. Nice for what I can see, pix are small and wont open to be enlarged to see detail. What Tasha said about the corners.... Practice... Get out a few scraps, and get some plastic/nylon lace and practice. Some projects when doing the round braid I will hit the corner holes three times to make it look right.... As for anything else... I cant see detail so i cannot give any opinion as to what looks right and what doesnt... I can say you have a leg up already with the fact that this is your first project, and it is all custom, not from a kit.... you have creativity built in....
  8. Tina... as usual: The bird on the inside is just too much.
  9. Not to steal the thread.... TroyWest, you mind offering me the same? I have a ruby blade as well. I also bought a used lot of tools a little while back, and there was one blade included, but the cutting tip was broken off kind of like it had been dropped. Attaching a pic so you can see what I am talking about and if you think you can do anything with it....
  10. Dave, you did some stretching to the leather before carving right? Did you attach the leather to something to keep it from stretching when tooling? Beautiful seat, love the coloring. Awesome!
  11. Thanks to Colman.... I was able to get two nice fish for this wallet. Here is a pic...
  12. Thats too funny. I actually am not in Chattanooga, I am just over the state line near Lake Winnie, but I can spit into Tennessee from my back door.
  13. Tasha, I do not have access to a copier or printer. Anything I get, I have to email to my wife for her to print out at work and bring home to me, and if it doesnt print out the correct size.... then I am in trouble.... LOL
  14. I am not an artist... I cannot create something that on paper (or leather) that is in my mind.... I have a wallet I need to do, I was asked to do something for fishing on it. I have a stencil from the Tandy Wildlife pack, but it is too small, about an inch and a half square. The fish, think it is a bass, would be great, if I had it larger, but I have no way to make the stencil larger. So I am looking for someone to either make it larger for me..... Or to draw out something for me that would work. If you can draw something out for me, please keep in mind, I am not a pro at carving, so please keep it simple... LOL The area I have to work with is 2 7/8 inch by 8 7/8 inch as a whole.... kind of thinking of a fisher (the wallet if for a woman who loves to fish) person catching a fish.... the fisher person would be one one side of the wallet and the jumping fish on the other, allowing room for a 1 inch letter on both sides of the wallet.... or, the same thing, jumping fish or something like that on both sides (would love two different types of larger fish) one on each side of the wallet with the initial under the fish, or above depending on how it is jumping (will include a pic of a sheath I did that the idea actually came from) going in an area of 2 7/8 by 4 inch for each side. I imagine that this would be simple for someone who knows how to draw.... but... I have been known to be wrong in the past.... Anyway, any help would be great. Mike
  15. MERVIN AND MICHAEL VIRES - ENDANGERED CHILD ALERT Missing: Last Seen october 2, 2008 Michael and Mervin Vires were last seen between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on October 2, 2008. The children had been removed from their father, Mervin Vires, Sr.'s custody. The children ran from placement and are believed to be back with their father at this time. The family will be traveling in a 1993 white GMC van with a possible TN license plate of J200796 and a red Chevy pick up pulling a 16' red trailer loaded with several four wheelers. The family may possibly be traveling to either the state of Missouri where the father owns property, or Georgia. The father has expressed anti-government sentiment and may pose a threat to law enforcement. If you have seen the children, father or vehicles, please contact the Paris (TN) Police Department at 731-642-2424 or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND If you have anyone (Missing Child or Adult, Fugitive, etc) whom you want us to send (FREE) to our extensive email list please contact me per the below. Thanks. Re: I love the part where they add the "The father has expressed anti-government sentiment and may pose a threat to law enforcement." Does that mean I pose a possible threat to law enforcement because I dont agree with the establishment and I believe all lawyers and politicians should forced to swim from the US to Africa and back? anyone who makes it can stay.... ??
  16. I am in need of an issue of the Skiver that I had, but cannot find... Thought I saved all of them for the past 3 years, but turns out I only have three... no clue where the others have walked off to... but I need the one that came out late last year.... either right before or right after the one with the How To Make leather dominos... Issue 6AMWC. There is an issue: 7ABWC that has two patterns for Business Card Displays in it, but they are not the displays i am looking for. The Skiver I am looking for had two Displays in it, but they were different, and one was tooled out with a SouthWest look to it. I would love to get this in my hands not just in digital form... so if anyone out there has this, and doesnt mind putting it into the mail... Way cool.... Thanks Mike
  17. I can tell you not to use Super Sheen as a seal/finish. I have so far had great results on my seats and all the other leather I have put on my bike using Aussie Wax.... Several members here will go a step farther and tell you to use Pecards but I had Aussie Wax so i didnt order the Pecards and the Aussie has done great for me. Good finish with great water repellent qualities.
  18. http://www.wired.com/gadgets/miscellaneous...0/st_pimpmypony "Leather seats have all the give of a two-by-four......." The best quote I have heard all day.... Gas gas hovers around $4 a gallon, your Prius-driving neighbors are cruising smugly all the way to Whole Foods. Sure, you could join their self-satisfied ranks. Or you could commute in style — on a horse (if your city's ordinances allow it). The timing is good: Equestrian gear recently got some serious and long-needed upgrades. High tech, Silver, away! 1 // Bitless Bridle Robert Cook's Bitless Bridle is an evolution of an ancient pony-friendly design. It steers with straps that crisscross under the muzzle: To turn left, draw the left rein away from your steed's neck, applying pressure to the right cheek and turning its head in the direction you want to go. 2 // Ultralight Helmet Old-school hats were just velveteen-sheathed plastic. Today's models, made of high-density polystyrene, are almost half the weight of the classic style yet can withstand several hundred Newtons of force. 3 // Carbon-Fiber Saddle Leather seats have all the give of a two-by-four, and a bad fit can cause your horse's vertebrae to dip. The Swedish company Linear has designed a modular seat (for a custom fit) with a carbon-fiber core to spread your weight as evenly as possible. 4 // Polyurethane Wraps To better protect tendons and joints from accidental hoof slaps, wool wraps are being replaced by boots padded with gel and carbon fiber. An outfit called Veredus molds its shells from 54-Shore TPU, a tough polyurethane mixture that stays flexible down to 5xB0F. 5 // Springy Stirrups Invented around the third century AD, the first stirrups were nearly perfect; they lacked only suspension. The company Horse-tec has added spring-loaded shocks to relieve strain on your legs and the horse's back, which increases as you gallop faster. 6 // Flexible Shoes Horse hooves change shape with every step, helping to pump blood through the legs. Thus, steel kicks ain't the best. High-grade polymer compounds are the material du jour — elastic enough to absorb shock and reduce muscle stress.
  19. I am very very surprised to hear that the general attitude in this thread is to shit can the bail out. Even Hiloboy (whom I do feel for with his IRA as so many others in this country) feels the same way. When I first read the news (what was it, Tuesday... Monday?) I screamed in praise that they shot it down! I really did not think they would have the courage to do so. But I also knew that it would not last. This is Bushys baby. He came onto the TV the night before the vote to tell the American people that it was the right thing to do.... Hes moving his lips, you know he is a lier. This is all Bushys fault. Think back to the first real thing he did 8 years ago..... he UN-regulated the banking industry.... The banking industry paid him so much money to get him to do their bidding.... He let them loose like feral dogs in a chicken coop. And there for the first few years everything was roses.... the economy was up and running at full steam.... Then the first symptom that something was wrong was the unemployment numbers going up.... steadily. Then the banks decided they wanted more faster money to make more loans to make more faster money.... they started to move the ARMs that they invented and were able to implement since Bushy UN-regulated them. At first it was just a slight move and then over time, it was just an out right "bend over Mr and Mrs Smith, we have something for you." The banking industry figured they could foreclose on the properties, and resell privately or at auction and still make money, and even finance the property again.... keeping the money rolling in.... What the banking industry didnt figure on was the loans they were greedily making money off of for development would come back to kick their asses. They didn't count on there being a major surplus of housing throughout the country driving housing prices down..... killing equity and stopping people from being able to buy a home selling for 120k when the value was only 100K and the banks realized they could not give a 100% loan but only a 80%.... the buyer could not come out of pocket with 40k..... Then the banking industry slowly realized that because the industry was un-regulated, the loans they were making to each other did not have to be paid back.... Talking about an Oh Shit moment.... huh...? The current credit squeeze is not being caused by lack of faith in other institutions.... thats what a majority of the 700B is for.... to ease the squeeze and allow the industry to loan within itself again. Now if you notice, no where within the BailOut does it mention re-regulating the industry.... they bail these screw ball fat rats out now, we will be doing it again in 15 years.... We need to stand up and take our government back from the corporations who have bought it lock stock and barrel and use it to their benefit.... and do not care a shit about us, the people who actually bare society upon our backs. And as for Welfare.... I have been unemployed for coming up on 3 years.... I have never received an unemployment check, no assistance from the government.... welfare, or anything else.... My wife works, I do what I can in odd jobs here and there but nothing steady. Not once have my children went hungry, and we pay our bills as they come..... sux... but we do it. And we do not borrow from family or friends either.

k... you see my avatar? I want a stamp like that, with all the white cut away, and the black remaining. I have one I did with a dremil and a cutting disc and cut away the black leaving the white.... I cant figure how to cut away the sharp angles of the white parts. BTW, I cut the black out of a stock 1/2 inch piece of stainless.
