  6. your on the right track, shoot a picture and folks can help out more with suggestions.
  7. if your interested in learning about everything why not learn to make your own patterns, its part of the process? This one would be easy peasy and you have spent a day looking for a pattern that would take less than an hour to make.
  8. that is nice i have a tiny gun i pocket a lot i may have to make one of these. I call it my bear gun.
  9. fantastic bag your dad is gonna love it!!!
  10. Looks pretty simple to make your own, all you need is a radio or wooden copy to size it.. It appears to be only three pieces of leather the strap in back is doubled for a belt loop maybe and is also the bottom of the holster riveted in the front the sides are one strap wrapped around the radio and sewn to the back strap, a leather strap for the snap set and your good to go.
  11. The ballad of Ed Cantrell, A new song that is about the county next door lol I remember this happening.
  12. yup, stamp it then cut it out
  13. they look great and appear to work pretty darn well also.
  14. the shaders add depth and form to your flat surface. The main idea is to add the illusion of shape to your object with them. Yes you will need different sizes. The "waffle" type just adds some texture to your object, A flower petal compared to a ruffle in a banner for example. flower smooth, banner rough. However there are no hard and fast rules on how you use these tools most were designed and created by people who had a specific use in their style of art. so the rest of us unless we copy their style learn to adapt them. And to make our own sometimes lol. Practice on every scrap you have and the bellies if you buy full sides, i hate doing the mundane type practice also so i just cut what comes to mind and see how it works. Lifters also make a big dif in the form of your objects and work in conjunction with your shaders to create the three dimensional look. I also practice my designs at least once on scrap before committing to a project, this allows me to practice my tooling, see if the design works, test colors and finishes etc. When first starting one time i did probably a dozen roses before finally doing the project.
  15. Brings back some wonderful memories, I used to watch my mom sew too, she did the same made her clothes and us kids clothes. She always let me help a bit and taught me to sew, knit, cook and crochet. She would always make me something for Christmas. Shh don't tell my old roughnecking buddies lol. God bless you as well and have a very Merry Christmas.
  16. it is i.ve found that if you don't have a lot of extra money and want something nice for your self sometimes you have to make it your self. Then the gained skill allows you to be self sufficient as well as being able to make for others. leather is not the only craft i know how to do lol.
  17. Thank you and i sincerely hope you can be doing leather for much longer also. i've been doing it in some form or another for about 40 years or so. Never really serious about it like you are, but it was a learned necessity in the beginning. we are pretty isolated here as far as being able to buy a lot of things, so i had to make them .lol Now i make some money to help with retirement with it.
  18. so what type of bow do you use this with?
  19. cool glove i had to google it to see how it was worn and found the exact pic on reddit. lol I have shot a lot of arrows in my day but never seen one of these. i guess cause all my bows have rests. Always wanted to try an archers thumb ring.
  20. That is one of your best !! beautiful contrast and that smile is perfect!!
  21. Nice job i like your art work. My old art teacher would agree with the others as well just the mans shadow would be enough to create the illusion.
  22. i use super sheen, don't know if it is the best or not but you can also use it as a resist so that your dye doesn't get where you don't want it. If you want it natural apply super sheen then you can dye the background or whatever without ruining. Alot of folks use 50/50 acrylic floor wax like mop n glo and water as a sealer also.
  23. Get a small block of wood to line your letter stamps against you can draw lines on it to get the correct spacing as well and trust your backstitch without the glue. A really nice project I like your drawing style and tooling.
