I would like to address the sewing machine comments. An old vintage singer 66. They can be found easily at garage sales, FB market place or Craig's list. Will sew 2 pieces of 6oz veg tan. You need a leather needle I suggest a size #21 needle. Here is a Video of a singer 66 I bought and oiled it threaded it and changed the needle I would not pay more than $100.00. Millions were made, they are not rare PLEASE, Excuse the blue fingers. LOL I was dying leather before I did this video singer 66 first run and test - YouTube

Maybe someone can explain to me the problem. I am just not getting it. I fold the strap over and position the way i want it. then i use my chisels and make holes holes May i suggest that you do not use an awl but use chisels instead?

Help! My cat peed on $300 worth of unused veg tan leather!!!

go hunting. I have cats and live in constant fear of that happening. Go buy a 48'' long plastic tote from ho depo and keep your leathers in it -
That is what this pattern is. the size runs a little small so if your melon is a pattern large make an x- large This was a test run. and is my hat. i plan on making hats to sell using 5oz veg tan the brim has a wire sewn in it to help hold shape

I did not like this mallet and did not use it. Till i added the antler I got from you and weighted the head. now i use it all the time If you noticed, I sanded a flat spot on the head. I got tired of glancing blows, I hit it square now.

You can adjust the weight of your hammer using lead shot. I drilled holes in the head of the hammer. Added and subtracted lead till it felt right covered the holes using a leather spacer to keep lead from falling out the handle, keeps the leather washer in place I have not weighed this hammer But the feel of it is perfect for my purpose

It was a fun job. I want that same stamp with out letters for other jobs
-
Personally, If it were mine and not a customers, the letters would be red wet formed end caps using 7 oz veg tan. I figured out a little trick, use epoxy to make your mold and glue some leather on one side you can punch holes in your cap into the leather of your mold and set rivets using the epoxy side

Here is what is so devious about the machine. Each machine is assembled without being assembled the same. the bobbin shuttle sits on the pitman rod differently in each unit. So when i tell you that if you do ABC to your machine because I did ABC to mine. That does not mean ABC will work for you. My best advice to a new owner is to understand how the bobbin shuttle works and adjust your machine around how the bobbin picks up the thread

Let me stick my 2 cents ion here. I bought a Chinese patcher. and like every one else I watched every video a certain person on you tube took the time and effort to make. a year later and my frustration at its in. I sat back and started at that machine for hours. thinking and thinking. FINALLY I decided that every thing on those videos must be wrong. After 2 straight days with very little sleep. I came to the conclusion that My Machine was not timed correctly. I set the machine up using common sense and the devil with what others thought. I WAS RIGHT. The timing on my machine was off and common sense told me to set the hand crank at the 12 o-clock position instead of the 2 o-clock position i was being told. My machine is running just fine now here is what you must know set the hand crank at the 12 o-clock position set the machine like it shows,

I have been to quite a few concerts a few stick out in my memory We spent a week up in he mountains in California and had a freaking blast. as we were hiking out, we started seeing people, not one or two but groupps of 20 and 30, then we started hearing music. we hiked down to behind back side of a Dave mason Elvin Bishop concert. A week long party topped off by a free concert. EPIC I saw Pink Floyd animals tour at soldiers field in Chicago. A huge pig float was Floating around in the air, I asked my bud, Hey man, do you see a big pig floating around? he said yes. I said OK,,For a minute I thought i was freaking out. years later I worked security for a few concerts UNTILL i met some B____ named Joan Jett. LOL I was back stage and had to take a leak, could not find a bathroom anywhere. She walked into her dressing room as I was walking out of her bathroom. LOL I got TOSSED/. fired. CANNED..B---!!! another epic event was the day I met BB King i Was tending bar in a bar called Charles in Yazoo Ms. Some dude walks in the Bar and asked if BB King could play that weekend for the door proceeds. I said HELL YES, then informed the Owner, She said I did good, Yadda yadda, on Saturday night Mr King took a break, out behind the bar he was seated at a picnic table. We shared a joint and had a really good conversation about nothing important just 2 guys talking
