In order to insert the steel band into a belt so that the belt is not damaged, use a belt sander to round the ends of the band Then glue the band into the center of a 1 1/2'' belt. I have never inserted a band into anything smaller than 1 1 /2''.. drill a hole in the ends of the band and rivet the band to the center of the belt. the band will not move and cut the threads.

Here is 3 pieces of 9oz veg tan. run a stitch grove on each piece using your chisel. hang one tine off the leather as shown, this will ensure you are starting out at the same spot on each piece of leather glue your peices As you glue the pieces. insert a needle every couple of inches, this will help you keep everything lined up . then sew them. all pieces are lined up if you did it correctly
