Quick Question on Temper and Strap-making
Frodo replied to Hardrada's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
If you want thick soft leather. oil the leather and work it. I wrap my belts around a pole and pull back and forth for 15 minutes Or you could do like the Indians did. Tell your wife to chew the leather to make it soft. THEN after you get out of the dog house, wrap it around a pole and pull back and forth -

I think it would be a great idea to look into publishing a children's book Your beginning stitching looks way better than my beginning. LOL mine was really really bad Great Idea. I am going to try it out. -
I did not know that. Thanks.

I would say that 90 to 95 % of the people i make gun belts for will NOT accept a belt that is nor banded It is actually industry standard when n buying gun belts Tony Gonzales uses poaster board as his liner, {I do not agree with that practice but whatever} I have a friend that uses 3/4'' plastic, I use steel, Now, lets talk about leather. In my opinion. Buffalo is a stronger leather than cow If you double a buffalo 8oz belt make it 16oz you do not need to add a stiffner. again, It is what a customer wants to pay for. I like doubled belts. I can hide a blade between layers

I uise 3/4 I use 7/8''' metal banding strap , For tool belts and open carry belts WHY? their are those that want that belt to be stiff and they pay big bucks for you to make it that way

OH NOOO...not me. I am learning every day. I see some work on here that is so far above my skill level that the computer will noty let me look at it On that phone holster of mine. leave the leather belt loop off and add a metal gun holster clip. if you do that, it can clip onto your pockets or your waist band or take the clip of of a broken tape measure lol that works also -

So true. here is a ''nice looking'' 20 dollar wallet, I de-constructed it ` It is full of card board and foam filler. BUT, it looks good and is cheap. should last about 6 months before you need another one -

I would love to lay claim to this idea. BUT alas ...I found it on my facebook page. My niece sent me a video of it and asked me If I could make it. Rory Durable Collapsible PU Leather Waxed Canvas Bag Foraging Pouch - MadeGen (mattfun.com) $19.95 is BS. I am going to make these and ask $50.00 -

I was at a music festival last weekend and saw a knife sheath with a sinew stitch line that was 1/2” (10mm). Wide . It looked like the sinew was wrapped . The visual effect was stunning. Has anyone seen this stitch and do you know the name of it?
