Lol! I did not want to start cutting up a new side of leather, in case my design did not work out. Lmao I used thick enough leather to use the holster as a hip support. Thanks for that drawing. Can I ask when it says 1/2" width frame + leather. Does that mean i should leave a 1/2" width from the gun to the stitch line? Yes i did put the belt slots up a bit high to the top, but I was just trying to do a straight carry/draw type pancake holster. Yes that is the shield I was talking about. I'm still going to get some of your patterns from you yet off of your site. Thanks again for all the help & info.

I some what did that before I glued it, but not enough thou. Another thing is I used 2 pieces of 6-7oz leather for the front panel & it was too much I think. Lol was kinda hard to wet form by hand. This was kinda of a test run for a straight up carry pancake holster. Also was a test run for making a pattern. Next 1 I will have a vacuum pump & a forming bag to form the holster. Plus I think I'll step down to 4-5oz leather laminated/glued panels also. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Guys & gals dont laugh too hard, but here is my first pancake holster. Of course it's in a working progress. I made my own pattern from poster board & went from there. I used 6-7oz veg tan craftsman leather, & laminated/glued 2 pieces for the front & 2 pieces for the back of the holster. Lol 6-7oz glued together might be a touch much for the front piece of the holster. This for sure has been a learning process for me. But I think it's going to turn out ok. Next I need to figure out my stitch lines, then dye, & saddle stitch it together. What's your guys thoughts. Thanks.

Chest Holster Harness for Belt Holsters

Looks good. Nice work. I like it. -
Yeah it's worth trying for rubber to leather. That epoxy has a un godly shear & holding strength. It's slow curing so you got lots of time to work with it. It takes about 12hours before it starts to set. It stays extremely flexible in thin layers/application, yet has unholy pounds pre square inch holding ability.

Try some of this epoxy. It's a 24 hour slow cure flexible epoxy & is good stuff for bonding about anything. Rough your leather & rubber with 80 grit sand paper. Then apply a thin layer of epoxy to your rubber & to your leather. Then weigh your project down to cure over night. This epoxy goes a long ways & dont take much. It has a very mild odor too.

Leather Armor - Advice on Scratch Resistance?
DieselTech replied to DavidK's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
What about checking out the fiebings saddle-lac. Maybe try it on a test piece of leather. -
Thanks for your help & your knowledge. I'll get some leather cut out & see if it works out. It's for me anyhow. Plus it's a learning lesson.

Lol. Guys & gals dont laugh too hard, but here is my pattern I come up with for a m&p shield 40cal. Lmao I better buy stock in poster board thou. I'm not sure it will even work till, i cut some leather out. I think i kinda designed a curved pancake style holster. Lol i just winged it.

Yeah I'll visit your site & look at things. I might need to purchase more than 1 pattern. Lol my funds are low after buying a bunch of good leather tools. Well & I got 3 veg tan whole hides, what do you recommend for leather weight to make pancake style holsters? I got 9-10oz, 6-7oz, & 4-5oz leather weights. Plus I got some 2oz calf skin. Thank again for the help.

Ok thanks. I appreciate it. I've spent the last couple hours trying to figure a pattern out. I think I come up with something that might work, but wont know till I try it. I might need to rack your mind from time to time with some Newbie questions. Thanks.

Beautiful work. I love it. I hope I'll be that good someday. Outstanding work. Just stunning. Thanks for sharing it.

@JLSleather do you have a link or pattern for a 40 M&P Shield pancake style holster? Also what other styles of patterns do you offer for the 40 M&P Shield? Thanks. Any & all help will be appreciated.

Thanks for sharing that wallet. I like the looks of that design. Great work by the way. Yeah a older gent seen the tandy tri-fold wallet & really was liking it. He ask if it was possible. I was like yeah, first let me make a practice run & I'll get back with you.

Yeah I have the owden premium edge bevelers they are awesome. I also got a few other owden tools & they are nice. The Wuta tools are nice as well & I got a few of them. But I only buy them thru amazon. Wuta premium line of tools are a bit pricey, but they are super nice.

Thank I appreciate your input. Yeah I think also I will radius the top 2 corners as well.

Yeah there was alot of firsts for me on this wallet. T-pockets being 1. It's a tandy pattern, & I changed the stitch length from 3mm to 5mm. Next 1 I will change up a bit more by sewing all away around the perimeter of the wallet. It will be a bit harder to do that, but well worth the effort. Thanks for encouragement & shall see how the next 1 turns out.

Nice looking rigs. You do nice work. Just beautiful. You also shoot my favorite caliber of hand gun. 41magnum is way under rated & such a sweet shooter. I wish I could find a model 57 smith. Thanks for sharing.

Guys & gals here is my 1st tri-fold wallet. There are some mistakes, & I had to skip edge beveling the card pockets. Did not have a edge beveler small enough for the 2oz calf skin. I found out 2oz calf skin is kinda hard to work with. Lol more tools to buy, now that I know i need it. It did not turn out 2 bad & I'm satisfied with my 1st results. 2nd wallet will be better. I'm going to change a few things around on the next wallet. Thanks for looking.
