  1. RockRash if you dont mind, would you let us all in on what size of disc magnets you used? Thanks. Much appreciated.
  2. Ha that's funny! Yes I've done that before & it is always enough to make you flipping mad. I'm sure I'll do it with this one at least once. Lol I'll have to paint 1 of the sides of the stamp yellow or red.
  3. Looks great. I like it. 1st time I've heard about a magnetic bookmark. Nice work!
  4. Thanks for the info & knowledge. I've been on & off leather craft for about 8 years now. I have decided to start buying some higher quality stamp tools. I've had the cheap stamp tools flake the chrome off over time. Next will be finding a custom makers mark stamp.
  5. Thanks that's what I was hoping someone could tell me. I cant wait to try that stamp tool out. I mainly bought the BK Sheridan style stamps, but fell in love with the looks of the lattice basketweave & have to have it. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
  6. They should use that as a promotion video. That's pretty amazing.
  7. I'll have to see if I can find that video, I would like to see how the cobra class 26 does. I would think if the Class26 can do that, then a class 4 will surely punch thru kydex, with the correct needle selection. I appreciate your time & knowledge. Thanks.
  8. Yeah I was curious because Cobra said it will sew thru plastics with the correct needle selection. I was just trying to get a idea on how thick of plastic & what types of plastic. Thanks. I appreciate it.
  9. Guys & gals in feburary or march I'll be getting a new cobra class 4 sewing machine. My question is will it sew thru kydex plastic used in holsters & knife sheaths? Will it sew thru a plastic bicycle seat pan? Some type of flexible plastic. No sure what yet thou. Thanks any & all help will be greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks TonyV I appreciate the input. Yeah I think the cheapest Barry K stamp I ordered was $34 dollars. I've heard the impressions his tools make are top notch. I figured it was time to try them out. I'll have to do some experimenting with it & dyes when it shows up. Yeah I miss the Craftool Pro stamps that were short lived, due to high pricing. They were a fine stamp tool.
  11. Guys & gals I pulled the trigger on a few Barry King stamp tools. Man them suckers make a guy cry. But they supposedly some of the best made. I ordered the Barry King #2 lattice basketweave stamp & I'm curious if any of you guys & gals got 1 & use it. How does the stamping look? What's the pattern look like when its dyed? Or is it best to leave it natural or apply a antique type gel on it? Thanks any & all help will be appreciated.
  12. Them look sexy! Nice work. Do you offer them with & without a Trapper knife? Sweet setup.
  13. If you can find them anymore, they are Craftool Pro # X2840 & X2842. These are a solid stainless steel stamp tool, & some of the best Tandy ever offered. It is sad that Tandy ever dropped this line up of stamps, because they were deemed too expensive.
  14. Yeah Southerngunner I bought a couple higher priced basketweave stamps, & they got 4 alignment tabs on them 2 stamps I bought. It's got a raised tab/locator on each corner of the stamp & as long as you get the 1st line of stamping straight, it goes good stamping/tooling. The geometric stamps get me messed up, & I've not perfected them at any level.
  15. I'm going to try the wood chisel method later on this evening & see what kinda results I get. I'll keep everyone posted. I appreciate the advice everyone. Thanks its greatly appreciated.
  16. Thanks I was reading about this method somewhere on the forum. I have been using a hollow hole punch on each end of the slot & then cutting it out with a razor knife. It works, but at times gives less than desired results. I got some high priced wood chisels up to 1½" wide. I'll give this method a try later on & see how it looks. Thanks for the advice.
  17. Ok thanks. I thought about that, but wasnt sure on how well it worked. I got 3 sizes of 1", 1½", & 1¾" oblong punches I want to buy, but dang them suckers are expensive! Thanks again for the advice.
  18. Guys & gals I would like to try my hand at making pancake holsters & sheaths. Which oblong bag punch should I buy to get started with? I know most duty belts are usually 1¾" wide, but most of my belts I make are 1½" wide, which punch size & from who should I buy? Thanks any & all help will be appreciated.
  19. I think your oak leaves look great! Great work. For the stitches I would get a seam ripper to cut your thread to take apart & re-stitch. You probably will have to cut every stitch with the seam ripper. I'm just learning back grounding myself, but I think the checkered back grounders are easier to use. I got a pebble back ground, that seems harder to execute. I'm not sure on measuring for your welt, I always lay the knife in the sheath, before it sewn & visualize my welt shape. Also to make your sheath look better/more professional, you should burnish your edges. Nice work & thanks for sharing.
  20. Well dang it! You are supposed to take a couple pics before you sell it. Yeah basket weave is soo nice when its executed perfectly. I have my hit & miss days when tooling the BW. Thanks for the kind replies.
  21. Yeah thanks for the info & video. I'll watch it & see what I pick up. Yeah I bought the Al Stohlman on how to saddle stitch & read it a few times, it's got some great info it to.
  22. Thanks I should of researched it some more before commenting about what technique it was.
  23. I think that braid technique is called a magic braid. If you need to investigate further.
