  1. Well that sucks Frodo! Can you dip dye it black to save the project. Or maybe dark brown? I recently just order 1 of them cordless airbrushes. Lol might be a $90 boat anchor for all I know. I'll keep you posted or start another thread.
  2. Welcome to the group! Glad to have you here.
  3. Looks great! Nice work.
  4. Thanks Ddat. Yeah I figure the only way to learn is to pick the tools up & start practicing. Lol I got a lot of finesse work to practice & I definitely cant draw. Lucky me for tracings & tap-offs. I'm slowly learning. Thanks again for the encouragement.
  5. Great looking shield! Looks nice. Fine work.
  6. Thanks. Yeah I got carried away with my decorative cuts. & yes mine are too straight & too many. I was wanting to try a leaf liner on it, but decided not to. Yours looks great, by the way. Yes I take suggestions, as a learning process so feel free. Thanks for the input.
  7. Looks great! Thanks for the info & test. It's nice to know it works soo nicely. At least I can find it in the stores & have a sealer option during winter. Thanks.
  8. Guys & gals here is my 1st tooled oak leaf. How bad did I do? Yeah there is mistakes & I got a lot of learning & practice to come. I found out I want a set of hand petal lifters, I do better with my homemade lifter. Thanks for looking.
  9. To me it looks like some form of a antiquing process. But you could easily get that effect with a airbrush. Nice looking hat. I like it.
  10. Lol no worries here! I like all input regardless of what it might be about. Yeah there is just something about Damascus, that is almost mesmerizing. I'll keep you all posted if I decide I can afford the Damascus half round knife.
  11. Looks great. Beautiful work!
  12. Looks great! Nice work. Outstanding!
  13. Yeah I am slowly acquiring my machines. I got a cobra class 4 coming in march. I was thinking maybe I should start saving for a skiving machine. Thanks for the info & the link. I will go check it out.
  14. Yeah I decided as of now I really dont need a bell skiver yet. Like you said I need to focus on the basics. I am fairly decent at stamping, but figure carving I'm not soo good at. Lol I need lots more practice. Thanks. Appreciate the help.
  15. Thanks for the test & written info. I hear & seen a lot of good leather projects that were sealed with mop & glo type products. I found out if you put super shene on too thick, & then let it dry, & try to bend/form your leather it will crack like safety glass. I appreciate your feedback & scientific test. Thanks.
  16. Thanks @TomE I appreciate the info. I'm wondering if it's something I should try & budget into my spending. Then trying to figure on how much it will get used & what all projects I might need it for & will make easier.
  17. Lol you guys make me laugh. Just me thinking back when I read that thread. & how someone got soo bent out of shape.
  18. Looking on the web, it looks like I will need a top & bottom feed skiver to use it with veg-tan leather. Is this correct?
  19. Guys & gals I'm wondering if I should buy a skiving machine. I make lots of belts, & wallets, & want to get into making bags at some point. I'm looking at this consew dcs-S4 skiving machine. What is some of my benefits to having this machine? Where is a machine like this most helpful & what can be done with it? What can I all do with it? Will this machine be ok? Or are there other/better options out there? Thanks any & all help will be appreciated.
  20. Beautiful work. They look great together.
  21. I believe a lot of guys will use a 6-7oz or 8-9oz for the outer piece of leather, if you are tooling it. Then they will use 2-3oz for the interior of clutch purse/wallet. Lol anyhow that's what I see on youtube.
  22. Thanks Stetson912. I appreciate your help & the illustration. What book is that if you dont mind?
  23. Went to order that knife this morning. Dang it! Wouldn't you know it was sold out. Sold out over night. Dang it.
  24. Yeah I watched a good vid the other day with jim linnel. It was a older vid & he had a speech about people being too worried about their tooling not looking like someone's else's work. He went on to say it's not about that, it's about what you bring to the table & in a style of your own. Yeah I like celtic type stuff, your deer looks nordic to me. Looks great. Puukko's happen to be my favorite knife to make. Just love them.
  25. Them look great to me. I appreciate your time & knowledge. Great work.
