  1. Yeah I always take advantage of tandys clearance sales. Lmao I bought a full Crocodile hide & I'm almost afraid to cut into it. Not from tandy thou. I love this site for all the great people willing to help & teach the trade to a new guy like me. Yeah a lot of great leather workers/crafters here. Or artists in my eyes. @SUP I do have a question about your round handle construction. Did you use a rein rounder to achieve your round handles? Or did you just use some type of round stock like rope or something like it & then wrapped it in leather & sew? Thanks.
  2. I ve been doing this for about 8 years & I'm still a newbie. I've never messed with any chrome tan leather. But if you start a thread on edge finishing your leather, I would be willing to read it & try it. Thanks. For a year in you are doing great.
  3. If you get the chance & what to try some excellent double sided tape. It's some mean stuff. It has never let me down. Try some of makers leather supply double sided tape or rocky mountain double sided tape. Stunning looking bag. Great work.
  4. Looks great. Nice work.
  5. Nice work! Looks great! Is that by chance taken off a Jim linnel pattern. I've been meaning to try my hand at 1 of those. Thanks. Stunning!
  6. Looks like stretch Mark's, that is usually in the neck & belly area. But it's hard to see your picture. Lmao my eyes are bad enough I had to really squint to make the lines out.
  7. Thanks for the great tutorial. Excellent job. I think I need a computer now. Question: Can you use a laser printer to print on the matte duro-lar transfer paper? It's a plastic type water proof mylar paper. Thanks.
  8. Thanks. I appreciate it.
  9. Looks great to me. Plus it serves a good job of protecting the hand trowel. Nice work. What dye did you use if you dont mind telling? Thanks.
  10. Thanks. Yeah I photoshop images on my phone & change a few things to get a good trace off for leather carvings. Lol my only problem is I'm limited to the size of my tracings only using my phone. Nice work! I'm a sucker for hummingbirds.
  11. Nice carving/tooling work WalterF! Looks Great. Did you freehand your hummingbird? Or is it a pattern from somebody? Thanks. Nice work.
  12. I think they refer to that style of belt, A "raised belt". J.H Leather shows a tutorial on a belt & a dog collar of that style. But yes there is a 3rd piece in the center to raise the belt center. I think 2 6-7oz straps would make a super strong belt, especially after a 3 piece is added in the center. I think the other way they do it is to skive each edge of the belts down. Then that will leave a raised center section, when the 2 belt halves are glued & sewn together it creates the raised center.
  13. Beautiful saddle. You do Great work! Stunning piece.
  14. I recently bought the TandyPro Damascus trim knife. Super nice knife, but was the tip was dull out of the box. Kind of made me irritated, but I was expecting it. Whatever composition their damacus is, it's super hard. It should make for a nice knife once sharpened.
  15. Nice work! I've been meaning to try the large basketweave as well. Looks great!
  16. Thanks. I'll look them up & watch them. I appreciate the help.
  17. I think the cobra class 26 & class 4 have the same sewing thickness capacity. Just the throat is bigger/longer on the cobra class 4.
  18. I'm also with Dwight on this one. I only use chicago screws on my belts. Also you can get designer Chicago screws. Flower shapes, starburst shapes, sunflower shapes if you want some more flair.
  19. I dont know that for sure. I bet it wont work the best on a soft leather, but I maybe wrong. I got some soft flexible water buffalo I could try on it. To give some sort of input back.
  20. I bought it to use on wallets or are intending too. I will try & mount it up this weekend & try it on some of the Buttero leather I got. My intentions was to use this to skive card pocket & such. I shall report back.
  21. I think this is what you are looking for. They have a couple different styles. Just make sure the post lengths are sufficient.
  22. Lol I havent even used it yet. I think i will at some point. I just dont know when. Thanks.
  23. I dont think you will have a problem. It more elbow grease than anything in my eyes. Lol my arms are already tired. I maybe totally wrong thou.
  24. Tom I'm no expert on this, but some of the vintage tandy stamps on pro leather carvers. Are priced from $30-$50 each depending on what stamp they are. There is some older tandy stamps I would like to find. They made nicer stamps back then.
  25. Ok thanks. Well it is official, I got a matte porosus Crocodile coming. It is 32cm wide in the belly. I hope I can get 4 wallet backs out of it. I also just got a electric creaser I need to be practicing on using. Thanks.
