  1. Tom I'm no expert on this, but some of the vintage tandy stamps on pro leather carvers. Are priced from $30-$50 each depending on what stamp they are. There is some older tandy stamps I would like to find. They made nicer stamps back then.
  2. Ok thanks. Well it is official, I got a matte porosus Crocodile coming. It is 32cm wide in the belly. I hope I can get 4 wallet backs out of it. I also just got a electric creaser I need to be practicing on using. Thanks.
  3. Them are 1foot wide by 2foot long panels from rocky mountain.
  4. @sparctek what did you do for your edge treatment on your Crocodile wallet. Did you use edge paint or heated edge paint? Thanks.
  5. I think 5oz in this leather would be fine for that bag. But if you really wanted it to have body I would go with 7oz. Another thing to think about, If you are going to line the inside of the bag you want to make. I would probably use the 5oz leather.
  6. Maybe I'm not thinking this thru or right. Lol But why cant you fold your quiver the way it needs formed & then fold your decorative piece & place it where it needs to be & mark your 1st stitch hole on the decorative panel & the quiver. Then you can punch all your stitch holes in the decorative panel on the bench. Then once the quiver is shaped you can finish punching you holes in the quiver & hand sew the panels on. I also think you could tool your panels & then roughly shape your quiver & glue the panels on the quiver & then sew. I maybe totally wrong to. Cause I've never done a quiver.
  7. Lmao I just told a friend of mine, it's going to be hard to put the knife to a beautiful Crocodile hide.
  8. Thank you. You are a great help, cause I was wandering what type of leather balm to get for the Crocodile hide. With that cream you used it looks glazed. Your finished wallet looks great & has a nice sheen to it.
  9. Ok thanks. So you are saying just make your stitches end up thru the scales & not the leather between the scales. I appreciate your help. I'm going to take the plunge & try my hand at it.
  10. Thanks. I appreciate it.
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate all your info on the matter. Beautiful Crocodile wallet you made. I was hoping I could get 4-6 wallet backs out of a hide, but i maybe dreaming. I thinks i for sure can get 4 nice wallets out of a whole hide. Of course I figured wallet 5&6 might not be cut from the most attractive part of the hide. Is that a glazed Crocodile? & do you remember what color that wallet you made is? Thanks.
  12. Thanks. I appreciate it. I've been looking at some of the Alran Sully for wallets. Does it have a firm hand/temper? Thanks. That Sully leather sure patinas nice.
  13. That card holder is still sexy even after 6years. Nice work! What particular leather is that? If you dont mind. Thanks.
  14. Guys & gals I'm curious if any of you seasoned professionals have worked with Crocodile leather. I'm looking at buying a whole hide & curious if it would be ok for wallets & card holders & such. Is it hard to work with? Is it durable, as in lasting? Thanks.
  15. Welcome to the group. Bunch of great people here. Enjoy!
  16. I'm curious how hard that teju lizard was to work with? Is it kinda scaly & hard to punch your stitching punches thru. Thanks.
  17. I'm no help on what your curious about. But another thing to think about would be warranty & parts availability. Just in case something does break.
  18. The light colored leather next to the wall is a pebble finished/textured Conceria Walpier Dollaro in the color whiskey. The reddish looking leather is Conceria Walpier Buttero in Chestnut. Its smooth. The dark colored leather is also Conceria Walpier Buttero in Mahogany. Also smooth. I'm waiting on some Conceria Walpier Museum to arrive. Other than it's the same firmness.
  19. I am going to recommend you check out any of these 3 leathers. They are firm hand leather & got great body to them. Beautiful leather & great color choices. Conceria Walpier Buttero. Conceria Walpier Dollaro. Conceria Walpier Museum. I would recommend 5oz or a bit heavier.
  20. Thanks. I'm not sure how low the temperature settings go. But the high temperature is adjustable up to 900°F Thanks I got lots of practice to do & research on what tips to use & have.
  21. Yeah I keep asking myself what border/camouflage stamp would look good with the dragon scale. Lol I keep telling myself it is missing something, just not sure what. Thanks.
  22. Thanks I appreciate it. Yeah the Zhong Jiang stamps are nice, but they are almost as pricey as Barry King stamps.
  23. Another question for the professionals & seasoned leather workers. If I want to add a crease line to the card pockets with my electric creasing machine? Do i do it before dying the card pockets? Or do I add my crease line after it is dyed? Thanks.
  24. Guys & gals I decided to make another money clip wallet. Its stamped/tooled with a dragon scale # e803 from Zhong Jiang. It's a bit off, but also the very 1st time of using it. The leather is 4-5oz premium select Quebracho from tandy. It is sponge dyed with Fiebings light brown pro dye. You could not distinguish the dragon scale very good after the dye dried. So I decided to antique it with Fiebings dark brown gel. Looks better to me now. Then I decided to get fancy or something like that, LOL. & added a plaid sheepskin lining. Its glued in with 3M spray adhesive. I got to decide about putting some tooling on the card pockets, something simple. Then dye them. Then I'll add the spring bar money clip in & stitch it up. Couple questions: Should I have not ran my dragon scale stamp soo close to the stitch border? & should I have maybe used a camouflage stamp all the way around with the dragon scale stamp? Let me know what I'm doing right, wrong or indifferent. Thanks. I'm all ears.
  25. I was also curious if anybody could tell me what the L series creaser tips do. Rocky mountain calls them a leather edge embossing tip. So does this tip just make a square flat type crease/line from the edge of the leather to whatever mm width of tip is chosen? Thanks.
