  1. Very cool work. I checked out your website. You are quite a good artist. Keep posting your work, please.
  2. Man, that's really beautiful work. I like the blade as well. Who made it?
  3. If you want something quick and cheap, I used 2 1x3's as the uprights with another 1x3 as a base (the piece you sit on) and used a short 1x3 as a spacer between the 2 uprights. I clamp it on the piece with a large spring clamp and have some deerhide nailed to the "jaw" area to keep from marking the piece I'm working on. If you want, I can send pictures, let me know I made it completely from stuff I had around the house.
  4. Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. Thanks.
  5. Does anyone have a pattern for a wide "70's style" watchband? I'm not happy with the one I made for myself and I want to try something different.
  6. That's a really cool effect. I didn't see the ghosts in the top of the design until I looked the second time. Nice bevelling and shading.
  7. Dude, please tell me you're going to color that (other than black) !! Your tooling has gotten awesome. That looks great. Very good piece.
  8. The second one looks better. The color makes it stand out. You said you knew it would wear off quickly. What did you use?
  9. That's really cool Kevin. Duane's gonna love it. Steve, you're telling your age Bro.
  10. That's really tight. Is the color on the pockets the color of the leather, or a stain/dye? You must be using a 10 pound sledge to get impressions that deep. Looks great. Still liking your chains.
  11. Nice detail Rog. Good looking work.
  12. Very nice work, Jordan. Did you put your name on it anywhere? In regard to the tool not sittting flat on your stone, it's probably a bad tool. I have the set of three, and they are all flat. Might need to trade that one in.
  13. Thanks, Bill. I'll check that out when I get back home tonight.
  14. I see articles and posts and advertisements that mention oil tan, harness, bridle, English harness, or English bridle leather and I'm not sure if these things are the same as veg tan or latigo or if they're something totally different. I'd like to try some new things, but I'm not sure what to buy or even where to buy it. Could someone point me toward the right answer?
  15. Looks good. I like the notched out spine, too. I used that cross meander as a border for my Bible cover. I've been thinking about going back and dyeing the cross part of the pattern black. Don't know if my hands are that steady though. Post some pics when you get 'er done.
  16. Rawhide, I would think that anywhere that has a lot of horse businesses would be a good place. One thing to consider would be are you just going to be another leatherworker in a sea if the same? Good luck on your decision. Bob, you mean it doesn't?
  17. I get waxed Irish linen thread here: http://www.royalwoodltd.com/cat14-17ar.htm I use the 4 ply for wallets and the like. I make my wallet backs out of 8 oz and the 4 ply works well. It's $11.50 a spool. I have yet to use a whole spool of one color. I also find that sometimes I have to use needle nose pliers to pull the harness needles through. Hope this helps.
  18. Nice looking belts. What type and weight leather did you use?
  19. Good looking work Steve. I still want to know where you get your other types of chains from. I'll have to check out some Bob Beard tools.
  20. Great job, Kev. I agree with Jordan, you might want to fade the background on your header a bit so your title will stand out better, Your work is great as usual. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it up.
  21. Ain't that the truth. Are there any saddle shops or tack repair guys around there? I might want to go visit next time I come back home.
  22. Rusty, welcome to the forum. Nice looking work, looking forward to seeing more. I was raised around Thompsonville and Harrisburg. I live in Arkansas now, though.
  23. Is there a prize for the worst looking first?? I keep the first thing I ever tooled on my bench to remind me that I have improved (somewhat). I'll try to get a pic of it tomorrow and post it.
