Nice job !!!

When i started along with many more in BC (before Computers) you pretty much were on your own except for what ever book you find and a lot if them didn't explain things to well so you had to try things on your own. Once in a while somebody would tell you a little bit and the rst you had to figure out your self. I seen a lot members help people out and that person / people just up and leave cause they though they knew iy'e all now. Oh they will show now and again for the AT A BOYS didn't i make a nice what ever. I think that might of left a bad taste in peoples mouths and their and their more carefull about who they help so much. People are talking about moneys tight and their on fixed incomes. Well my money is real tight to !! I had to spend 5000.00 last month to get my eyes operated on that i really didn't have extra because i can't afford insurance. But i'll tell one thing it was worth it cause now i can see again. If your own a fixed income at least you know you will have that much every month. Me i never know how much i'll one month to the next. Some months are pretty good and some arent. That's life and i've learned to live with it. Another thing theirs no leather store within at least a 100 miles of me. So like lots of ya i have to order things. That's just the way it is. Nobody i know started out with all their tools either. I've been getting mine for 20 plus years. You get what ya need and next month get something else you need. Were living in a i want it now time and doing this of work takes time and pratice. Like i said before your gonna screw up it's part of doing it.

I think the point Pete was trying make is just to try and see what happens. A person doesn't need to have their hand held every step of the way. People are going to screw up even with somebody standing right by their side and being told every move to make. Face it folks your going to screw things up it's part of life. 30 something years ago i gave a guy a bid on painting a house. He took it and the first brush stroke i new i had messed up. I would up painting that house for around 2.00 a hour. That was lesson that has stuck with me ever sense. Same thing doing leather work you learn from mistakes and they will stick with you. I try to help people on here and where i live and i've seen people in both places that were scared to cut a side / back/ double shoulder cause they were scared they would mess up. It happens but you learn from it. Espically if it's coming out their pocket. Yes i know things cost a lot and you don't want to waste your money cause it's tight. Same here, ever day of my life money is tight and yes i mess up sometimes but i try to learn from it.

I had a areostitch and sent it back. For me the compressor ran way to much. i could sew maybe 10 or 12 inches and it would kick and run and run. It would never catch up until you stopped sewing. Stitch was nice enough but the compressor running so much did it in for me.

Sewing looks good but with all of them piled up it's hard to tell anything else or it is for me.

Aureli, it looks you had a great time at the show !! Thank you for sharing your pictures i enjoyed looking at them.

A quick look through the how do i this threads will explain a lot of the questions. It's kinda like the where do i get this or that threads. A quick search on Google will turn a lot of what their looking for most of the time.

I'll send you a box of pieces for the postage. Their most 10/12 and 12/14 oz if you can use em. They will be bigger pieces but their not big enough for what i make or a bad place on em. If you want em yet me know and ill mail them next week.

Theirs going to be wear where the buckle is. On the other hand are the buckles rough like they weren't finished well ? If they are you might try sanding or fileing the rough part smooth.

Looks like you will need to make him a padded bib cause it looks like he will have lay down to ride it the way bars are. Make him some chaps to with extra pieces sewed on so he won't burn his legs on the pipes. Is he going to leave the clutch cover off to ?

Particle i just came in from sewing some things and i checked my machine's pedal travel. It was around a 1/4 from stopped to full speed. It has a clutch motor and the pedal has rods instead of a chain. I can sew 1 stitch if i want to no problem. Personally i never had noticed it on my machine till it was brought up here. Now a guy i used to work for has his pedal set to where you have to really push the pedal before it will start sewing and it drives me crazy every time i have sewed on it. I guess it's just what ever you get used to.

Mine is 38 inches tall and i'm 4 foot 22 inches tall.

Have you tried changing where the spring hooks on the arm and tried moving the hook on the chain to another hole ? I don't know if that would change anything just wondering. One machine i have has a servo motor and i have all kinds of control with it. Not sure what brand of motor it is. To tell the truth i never really have looked to see how it works.

Well if your lucky you might find one of the older Juki's for around 3,000.00 used or a new Ferdco for around 5,000.00. My Juki doesn't do the things your talking about. Then theirs a Campbell machine needle and awl. I think they sell for around 6 or 7,000.00 new. Their are two other dealers ( in the banners ) on here selling machines send them some leather and ask them to sew it for you. Heck theirs all types of new and used sewing machines around you just have to find them, or you can sew by hand. Plus their are several different makers of motors. So you have many choices of what you want to do.

Your never going to be able to bend that piece to where it will work. Cut your leather to the length they say in your instructions sew it togeather. Then wet it and form your U shape you will probley need to tack it till it drys and it will hold the shape. Tack it in your stitch holes.

IMO it just depends on what your sewing. I've wore a new needle out relining a old pair of skirts off a saddle from sharp to round. Other times it seems like they last forever. You can hear a difference in sound when it gets dull to most of the time. It sounds like it's tearing the leather and probley is.
