    A Dale Demo

i agree with you the tools you get from tandy are great for beginners as for the more advanced artist although some tools from lets just say the pro line without adverteising are crisper, i must have around 70 tools that came from tandy or the LF and they suit my needs i doo have around 12 or so tools that cost at an average $50-60 each because tandy or the LF didnt make that stamp, i dont think that a beginer would want to invest thousands of $ just to get started so we all can be greatfull of the tools that cost around 10-20 bucks. Don P.S the picture looks fantastique

  13. ok the way i do it is use the stitching grove and after that use the stitching wheel, then set up on the stitching horse lace my thread ive tried pree waxed thread at the begining and didnt really like it that mutch i use bees wax and wax my own thread, first off have you sharpened your awl and are you using a diamond shaped awl, i would recomend a diamond shaped awl and sharpen it, i do each hole then push the thread through and pull tight, a helpfull tip before you push the awl through the leather, push the awl into a candel (bees wax is best but a normal one will do) you will find that the awl will go through the leather without any drag and hardly any pressure needed giving you more controle, Don

  16. nice pair of spur straps it is one of my most liked style of straps because of the simplisity, no buckles and so on ... plus they are the quickest to put on or take of but after seeing the way you did yours i was surprised to see that the adjustment cuts dont go through the leather or am i mistaken ...i believe this will be very hard to see when trying to mount the spurs as you canot see the button and the outer layer of leather will press against the button.... i dont know i may be wrong have you tried to mount this style while wearing boots and then puting on the straps, Don

i did this one manny years a go one day when i was bored and wanted somthing to do way before i knew about lifters and such with little experience on carving as such, the colouring was done with the permanent markers as i did on the wallet thanks Clay for the tutorial as it has shown me how i can improve on this style of carving, when i get some spare time ill have to try it the again the ClayB way and see what happens

  24. Ok im building my first saddle so i need some info and help here, the question is how do you do your cheyenne role as ive seen a couple of different ways and im not sure which way will be better for me to do, 1. the first way ive seen is when you nail a piece of leather to the top of the cantle and fold the seat over to form the roll. 2. the second is where you over lap the back of the cantle leather and fold back the leather and then pull the seat over the folded back cantle leather, not verry well explained but i hope you get what im trying to get over i would be interested to hear how you do it, plus pros and cons of the different methods of doing it .... so please help me out here cheers Don
