  1. Frank, you have been a busy fellow. They all look great. On the shoulder holsters the strap with the trigger snap does that go over the rigth shoulder and down the front to a belt loop?
  2. I have found his prices to be comparable to Mark Staton company, PanAmerican and Roje and in some cases lower. However the big advantage to him and to Mark Staton Company (specializes in gator) they are both willing to cut the size you need not sell you panels. Again I have not bought elephant from John Fong but he has sold me pices of gator and ostrich in the domensions that I needed without a minimum. Yes the price per square foot is a little higher when you by a small piece but its still cheaper then a couple hundred dollars for several square foot panel when you don't have need for that much.
  3. Try John Fong exotic leather in SanFransisco http://johnfongexoticleathers.com/ I have not bought ellephant from him, however I have bought gator and ostrich and in those leathers he cut to size for me with no minimum. I would call and talk to him dorect, he is a very nice guy to talk to and has several holster makers as clients.
  4. I contacted Joyce through ebay got a response in about an hour. She told me to email at blackriverlase@gmail.com gave it a try and it worked this time.
  5. You can send a message to her through the ebay site when you click on contact you will have to sign on to ebay then select not a bout an item it will give you a message box you can send a message to her for contact. Also a person on these forums Chief I will get his full screen name has quite a bit of contact with them. You might PM him and see if he can put you in contact.
  6. I don't have a phone number. A couple of days ago Joyce said she was having trouble with her email. You canb get a hold of her through her ebay store http://www.ebay.com/usr/joy6756?rt=nc up in the right hand corner click on contact and follow the prompts. THey are also members on these forums you can try sending a PM. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showuser=25445
  7. Joyce does her templates on computer, it would be easy enough for her to resize one of her templates to give you what you want. Blackriverlaser.com prices are pretty reasonable. contact her and see what she can do.
  8. Belt, Western gun belts Western holsters, Sheaths for large knives, Rifle Scabbards, Armour, many other things. It will not bethe best choice for dress belt and smaller width womens belts.
  9. One of the big reasons for staining before assemby would be thread color. When I am doing a holster with say white thread on a black holster I dye first then stitch. If thread color does not matter it is more expedient for me to dip dye the whole thing.
  10. Have you tried calling him direct and ordering over the phone 406-552-7433 there is also an email address on his site. I am sure you can order direct if not they could tell you where his tools are available.
  11. Try using a denture cleaner like poly dent or efferdent. It usually does a very good job of cleaneaning without hurting the finish. Try it on just one tool or part of a tool first.
  12. 1st off we need to make sure we are using correct terminology. To the best of my knoweledge acrylics are paints, they are usuaully used for decoration not to cover a whole hyde. When dying largge portions of leather the dye that is used is usually water or solvent based not acrylic. WHen you say 2 hides, the term Hide would tecnically mean the whole skin of the cow etc. Normally leather is bought by the side, shoulder etc. Yes the whole hide can be boughtalso. Just trying to clarify if you are indeed talking about a whole hide and if you are trying to paint or dye the hide?
  13. Make sure your freind knows you are just starting out. He has seen a picture of your work and was impressed enough to ask you to do a project for him, so you must be on the right track with your work. It would be worth it to you to take a gamble, agree to a price and tell him if he is not happy with the result, he does not have to pay and you keep the item as a learning experince. If he does not like it make sure youo get as much information about what he does not like so you can correct it in the future. If this is what you want to do you have to get started someplace. You might also post some of your work so we can see it and make constructive comments that will help you to improve, alos give us an idea of the project and there will be people on here that can give you tips and all the help you can handle.
  14. Josh, I really like that flap holster and nice job on the WIP
  15. Try Texas Die COmpany, they are a member on these forums and are up in the above banners.
  16. There are several suspender companies that have sizing charts availalbe that tell you a certain height range say 5' 11" to 6' 3" is XL however every chart tells you you should measure the person because there are so many veriables. I have not found a definative chart that will work on every one. If you want a chart just google suspender sizing chart you will find several. When I make suspenders I give the person ordering (if they can't see me in person) instructions on how to measure. THe measurements needed will vary depending on the style of suspenders you are making. DO a search on these forums Mark from Cowcamp Saddelry has a pattern on here and I think gives instructions on how to measure. Here is a link that has Marks pattern. I don't know if you are looking for a pattern as well as a sizing chart but thought this link might help. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=10714&hl=%2Bsuspenders+%2Bpattern
  17. So don't keep us in suspense lets see the imprint.
  18. Here is the defention of M.O.L.L.E http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOLLE it is basicaly a clip that alows you to attach things to strap or belts. There are many styles depending on the company you are buying from and the application you are getting it for. Most are designed with a hinge at one end and at the other you have some kind of a latching and release mechanisim to allow for guick on and off as needed.
  19. Twisted, I do not like using suede for a liner some people do. I prefer to glu two pieces of the same thickness of leather or the liner slightly thinner. For instance two piece of 4-5 oz glued fuzzy side to fuzzy side, this gives you a holster with the smooth side inside and outside the holster. It also gives you a stiffer holster. You can also sandwich the snap bases etc inbetween the two layers.
  20. I think what JLS is getting at is not that your strap won't work but since your holster is unlined it looks like the base of the snap is exposed on the inside of the holster and will probably rub against the cylinder of the revolver as you draw out and reholster. This will damage your finish, even on stainless it will probably leave a wear mark, unless you have a plastic snap cover on it.
  21. When I use Carnuba I put it on a clothe or piece of shearling. I do not put a blob directly on the leather. As soon as my cloth or shearling touches the leather I start rubbing it around to get as even a coat as possible. It will darken slightly un dyed leather. After having had time to dry some have your streaks evened out some?
  22. PM sent. Where are you located?
  23. Bob, try a denture cleaner like polydent, efferdent or what ever is available where you are. It works well to remove alot of stuff from the tools with out harming or removing metal. Do a search on these forums, I am pretty sure that there are several threads regarding various stamps including Kelly/Midas that may have a picture of some of the stamps made by Midas/Kelly. Here is a link that will give you some information http://www.kellymidasclassics.co.nz/about_noel_kelly.php The article also has a link to Noel Kelly's website, if you contact him he may be able to provide a chart or information regarding the different Kelly/Midas stamps.
  24. There are several threads on here for making the three legged stool. You might search them. Here is a link to one of those threads. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=29437&hl=%2Bthree+%2Blegged+%2Bstool+%2Bpattern scroll down to post number 9 for an interesting lik. You can use dowls and round them off a little . You can conect the dowels with a ring or a tri bolt. Lots of information already on here, search three legged stool, camp stool or three legged stool pattern.
  25. All the pictures showed up fpr me. Do you have a price in mind yet? Do you have a list of the stamp numbers. Most look like newer craft tool.
