You might want to try some acrylic paint either cova or Anglus.the latter has more colors..

Knut....i have checked the wal mart store in memphis and i was todd the plastic canteen has been discotuined. i have bought several and wanted more.i check some others stores when i get the chance. But in the meantime have a look at the Civil War Smooth Side Canteen. I have bought them from...(Fall Creek Falls . com). I know they are tin but mine turned out fine.
