  1. AGREED. The one I purchased when I first started is an actual "groover" it cuts a groove into the leather so your stitches lay below the surface of the leather. @Bant If you zoom in you can see the tiny hole and cutting edge.
  2. @paloma thank you so much! The cost of shipping the mat was a little higher than I can afford currently but guaranteed I will be back to revisit this option! For now I have redone my cutting table with a local purchase from Joann's fabrics and using a coupon code I only paid $30 USD for a large 36"x59" cutting mat. Cleaning table top Mat placed with carpet tape as suggested by @Dwight Table back in place. Sample cut, shows the mat does scar but I think I will get my $30 of use out of it.
  3. @paloma you should show the mat after a cut has been made on it!
  4. Shipping cost to US is kinda high! But I might just bite the bullet...
  5. That looks nice! Waiting to hear about shipping cost at the moment...
  6. Love the setup. My cutting table is 35"x55" UHMW 3/4" thick top 2x6 and 4x4 legs I'm looking at the cutting mats that @paloma posted the link for, to cover the UHMW.
  7. Contacted company waiting for reply!
  8. @Rolandranch gorgeous work! I've been away for a long time and can see the progress! Keep it up!!!
  9. Thanks, I still am making the vast majority of my tools and will continue to do so the knives are industrial bandsaw blade and hold an edge sooo good. I needed pull knives and have about 20 ft of blade stock so I made these. Thanks the coin pouch is oil tanned along with the wallet/organizer. The edges are burnished smooth
  10. How did your knives perform on this type of mat? Also they seem to be in the UK?
  11. It's been a long while since I posted so I figured I would share at least one or two pics of what I've been doing for fun.
  12. Ok I'll play here are the ones I use frequently and infrequently.. All except 3 are made by me.
  13. DO NOT USE BEES WAX !!!! IT'S STICKY BY NATURE!!! USE PARAFIN WAX and take the time to push the plugs out after about 3 holes punched simple solution!
  14. 1084 not that great. There are much better steels out there. I use L6 for most of my blades or 5160 spring steel. I prefer L6 though for my skiving, and head knives.
  15. It's 4oz, 7 1/4"wide by 7 1/2" long if I remember correctly
  16. Liquitex acrylic artist paint. Use like antique same process in other words. Use a resist and topcoat..
  17. @YinTx nice set of pants for that old knife! You know I gotta say it let's see the back side!
  18. It's a BAD IDEA....you'd be better off and cheaper buying the poundo. Go to a truck stop if you have one nearby and purchase a mud flap one without any logo. That is one suggestion. Go to Walmart and purchase a $7 cutting board that's another suggestion! Anything but trying to purchase a boat load of Flex Seal, the stuff it's thin and it's garbage.
  19. Here's a couple of FPW's and my new tooling station. Both are done with all my handmade tools swivel knives through stitching clamp.this was being tossed out it's Rexroth, has a light (obviously) air (if I hook a hose to it), adjustment on height and a power strip... owner rides a Victory 8ball he wanted a FPW with the ability to run a chain so I added a speed lacer to it. this guy owns a Big Ol Dodge.and the last FPW is the one I carry but it wasn't done with my own stamps it was cut, carved and stitched with my tools though (I may have shown it cant remember) comments welcomed.
