  1. 10" or so
  2. i use it for slicking edges and smoothing rough backs on straps etc.
  3. nice job!! i like the little bit of black you used
  4. OK guys.. i would like to get a couple more tools to do this project and am interested in what you use for hairing ect. any tips on technique would also be greatly appreciated. here is the pic i will be working from
  5. nice simple press!! how's the finished case look?
  6. i really need to pick up a couple more! they are a dream to use for finishing! open it up real wide and go!! i have a couple double action brushes and don't use them much cause this one does what i need with pratically no maintainence. i just run some alchol through it now and then and wipe it down
  7. thanks guys!!! i was rather happy with this one myself
  8. i'm not sure what one that is. for some stupid reasom it looks like they no longer sell online and there are also no prices on the website i have a low dollar single action airbrush from them that i have been using for a coule years. it won't go real fine but, it works well and no problems with cloging. this is the single action brush i am talking about. if it's the quick change one... stay away. i picked up on of those and it tends to spatter when spraying dyes at least. i haven't tried it with anything else
  9. i haven't played with that process but, that is one of my seats and the dye is airbrushed to get that clean of a fade
  10. very nice art!! i really like the look of those bags and you finish them off very well nothing wrong with giving away somethng like that! if you were to start selling them, it may take the enjoyment out of making them
  11. LOL!! thanks for the offer but, i make a left off my street and in two miles i'm on the beach. i'm looking for thoughts or methodes on tooling a calm ocean and beach
  12. neat effect tom. thanks!
  13. i am all about texture! maybe some fairly heavy grit paper... and a large pair shader............. thanks for the input!!
  14. i have been asked to come up with a design with a beach sean involving a calm ocean and sand. anybody done anything like this or can offer any input as to texture ect. any ideas at all are welcome
  15. i have a similar horse that my dad built a good 20 years ago. i had him make me some larger jaws like the one in the pic but not off set. you can make the jaws by laminating them. i'm gonna try and see if i can get him to make me a draw down horse. i'ed really like to have the added depth in the jaws as sewing up these bags is a bit of a challenge. this horse is all pine and when he made the new jaws, he used poplar where they meet.
  16. just did a search for stainless steel nails on thier site and they have just about any nail you need in stainless
  17. don't know what type of nails your looking for but, i know www.mcmaster.com has stainless nails
  18. well done shirley! nice simple pattern... works well in black
  19. she did great for a first piece!!!
  20. Thanks for all the compliments!! yes Ian, al the dye on this seat was airbrushed yea clay, i really like the texure the pebblers give but, wanted to try and tool on up as clean and acurate as i possibly could. inverted carving leaves less room for error and an extra challenge of doing mirror images. i am real happy myself with the way it came out. maybe the next time i do something like this, i'll do a bit more of the "pin strip" decritive cuts. i wa a bit nervous about doing those as there is no way of fudging them if you mess up at all! the red is a combination of things. the red on the dragons is oxblood but it was applied after the tan to produce a darker color. the side of the seat is a combination of oxblood and mahogany to black. i hope to get a couple pics of this seat on the bike!!
  21. came out great chris!! i like that clever design!!!
  22. came out great shirley. for the life of me i can't figure out why you would even suggest black! i do everything i can not to dye seats black. it would just kill that one for sure
  23. hey does this mean you will save some extra special hides for me if i order from your store????
  24. thanks for all the coments as always!!! i have found with black that lots of texture makes all the difference in the world. the pebblers really help things to stand out in black i really enjoy using this pattern. BIG thanks to shirley for that one!!! i can lace as fast in this pattern as i can doing double loop don't recall the font. it was picked out by the customer and was not fun to do. too many little points ect. for me.
