  1. I agree with both of these. An axe should cut both rivets easily, without harm to the axe. But I would never put rivets of any sort in a sheath, the welt is to protect the stitches, not the rivets. Copper rivets are the worst as they turn the spot in your leather where they touch into that nasty green crud corrosion.
  2. Have a friend in another stated send it to you. Goat lace is the next in quality.
  3. I like the blue a lot. My only critique is all of my jeans have yellow thread, I think that is pretty common.
  4. It may take months or longer. The answer is tape it down. Or stop using it and photocopy your image onto paper. You will eliminate one third of your errors in tracing that way (you only trace it twice, not three times).
  5. First what Tinker said. Second a lot of sewing people will put a bobbin on the bobbin winder and it will fill as you sew. It will be full about the time the one in the machine runs out.
  6. Tan kote is the proper product to thin antique. It is not a water based product.
  7. Sorry if I sounded like a rectum but this issue is likely my biggest pet leave on this forum. People choose to keep their location in the world secret, but many of their posts relate to Others needing to know their location. I am truly sorry about the theft, I personally hope the guy falls off his bicycle on the way to the pawn shop and gets his head squished by a truck driver who is high on meth.
  8. As is so common here, a location would make all the difference in the world. Are you located in South Africa, France, China? If you are in China, the people in Norway would be wasting their time to keep a look out.

    Lisa also sells them.
  10. If the hides you are buying are cheaper than it would be to buy precut belt blanks then you do not have any waste.
  11. It is almost always better to try and work together than to separate. Three threads all at once is awesome though. like many high maintenance women, what you bet out of the relationship in the end is what counts.
  12. I like glycerin saddle soap, dislike gum trag. Dampen the edge, rub with soap, rub briskly with denim or canvas.
  13. My gauge is if you can not dry shave the hairs off your arm, it is not sharp enough.
  14. I left in 1986, only been back up twice since then. The last time was about 6 years ago. Anchorage had changed a lot, some parts of town were the same, others I had trouble finding the places I used to know. My grandparents lived in Homer, on the other side in Peterson Bay. That area was totally different.
  15. probably your best source of online info: http://www.svetakletina.com/
  16. Welcome. I grew up in Anchorage. Aaron
  17. I still have and use neat laq too. I never use ecoflo antique, always use fiebings. As to what happened, you hit a spot that was not sealed. During your application you wiped off all of the neat laq in a few spots. The antique did what antique does and colored the leather at those spots. To test for this, before antiquing and after neat laq application wipe your piece with a damp sponge. if the leather darkens you missed spots. As to how to fix it, that is harder. It is hard to un-color something.
  18. LOL. Saw you lived in Oregon, thought I might come by and look. Didn't recognize Lakeview so I looked it up. Turns out you live right next to the middle of nowhere.
  19. I would powder coat it. I have a few of these, cast iron sandblasted and powder coated. Very durable finish.
  20. It is amazing how many people use dull knifes and swear that they are sharp. Then a light goes on when they actually learn how or someone sharpens it for them.
  21. This is the point. The stick to have a store properly charge is the loss of profit when they do it wrong. You did not cheat them, they cheated themselves. You should not have been charged the $21 because it is on them.
