Real nice stuff Chief. I was wondering if the holsters are hand stitched or did you use your machine. I am planning on getting a machine in the next few months and wondered which machine I need to get to do holsters. Your holsters look great many layers of leather are the edges and how thick is it for machine stitching?

How many holes in a belt dosn't really make the belt or take from the belt. I put 6 holes in all my belts. By the way nice belt, I think it is a winner.

Thanks for the nice comment Allan. Jazzman, I just dyed the leather and then finished it with Tan Kote. Actually on this one I dyed the holster then whip stitched it with a cheap plastic lace so I could fit the gun in it. I then wet the holster fit the gun and after it was dry I cut out the lace. Then I put Tan Kote on it. I did this so the blue would not rub off on my colored lace. After lacing it again with the red and white lace I gave it all another coat of Tan Kote.

Here I am again. I tried to post this and forgot and clicked on the image icon. Why is this image icon even on here. If I click on it all I can do is close down and start over again. Quite frustrating. Here we go again. I just finished up this holster last evening. I am not sure I like it and would not choose it for myself. I did enjoy putting it together though. The dye is Navy Blue Fiebings. The lace I purchased from Springfield Leather. This has to be the thickest lace I have ever worked with. It is super strong. This is the first time I have ever laced with two colors of lace at the same time. All comments and critiques welcome.

Those are nice looking sheaths. The middle one is my favorite of the three. Nice carving on it. Stiches are nice and even too. Did you hand stich? What finish did you use?

That is a nice looking collar. What kind of stitch or weave did you use on that stitching? It looks nice. That snake skin inlay is really attractive.

I stitched all of it at the same time. More layers makes it a bit more difficult but not too bad. I punched the holes for the stitching by putting an awl needle in my drill press, that way I was able to punch the holes straight through and the stitching is straight on both sides of the project. Might not be the traditional way of punching the stitching holes but it works great for me. I use lacing pliers to persuade the needles and thread to go through the holes.

It goes in from the edge about 1/2". 1/4" past the stitches. It is also glued with Barge cement.

Yes, four layers at the haft, then feathered down to three layers across the cutting edge.

Made this sheath for a customer. All hand stitched. I used Fiebings Mahogany Oil Dye and Tan Kote for the finish. All comments welcome.
