I would check with a local sewing machine dealer to make sure it will handle the type of material that you want to sew but would not be a big problem

A more accurate description of what you want to sew would help......if your just sewing cloth then yes it would work........leather ........maybe.....depends on weight and type of leather for an accurate answer

Douglas awls are considered some of the best, with Osborne following a near second. I am pretty sure that only Sheridan Leather carries the Douglas ones. Springfield Leather carries the Osborne ones and they are less expensive. Either on can also help with needle selection, depending on the weight of thread you are wanting to use. Both suppliers are available by clicking the banners above or going to supplier directory on this site. Mike

Most of the Tandy people are not as knowledgeable as they should be...........although some are better than others. Watch the video on youtube by Nigel Armitage................then call Sheridan leather outfitters.......or another "real" leather supplier..........and get the right stuff. It doesn't say what you are trying to sew........that and pics would help in directing you better.

In terms of "coarsness" the white is the most coarse, followed by green and then red........AI have not personally used red and usually stay with the green........might need to strop more but it should work
