  1. as far as the felt goes..........a wool saddle pad is how I got mine........take a piece of pipe nipple and put a cap on one end......grind the other end to a sharp edge and punch away

  10. You can order the osborne awl blades. Or better yet call Sheridan Leather Outfitters and get a Douglas blade
  11. the White 1315 is not going to be a good leather sewing machine. For under 300 it will be difficult but not impossible. might look for a singer 15-91
  12. A new one is 2695..........also a Cobra 4 or CB4500 are about the same price new..........check out the banners at the top of the page for our supporting vendors. Also there is a Union Lockstitch just listed for 1500.........now that is also a great machine!!

  14. I bought the complete kit from Eastwood Co......compressor and all..........works great and not a problem with it........and I bought it 2 years ago but just now playing with it

  17. if you are on a tight budget then you should check out..... www.dharmatradingco.com they have the acrylics cheaper and also the spirit dyes reasonable too.......will save you money and headaches
  18. It might be from the changes in temperature. Looks like dried out some from being exposed. I have a hide with similar areas. Now I keep mine wrapped in brown paper and in the shipping box and it doesn't happen.
  19. You can always call Springfield Leather too....they will sell smaller cut pieces until you decide what you want and can also answer those questions. Beats buying a whole lot of leather and not being what you want or need. There are also a lot of posts on holster making if you do a search of the topics you need help with. I just started doing holsters too and get most of my info there.
