  4. I live in the UK & our Tandy store has just told me that the Fiebings Pro Oil dyes & laquers are to be discontinued over here....something to do with the contents....
  5. I gotta admit, Im a Tandy kit junkie....but I mainly buy them for making patterns from & only when they are on sale!!! Some of the new kits look really nice & whats more up to date fashion wise, but even on sale they are way outa my price range, I intend to sit down at some point, study the pics & dimensions given then try to work out my own patterns for some of them. Good luck with whichever way you choose to do your project

  12. I watched you videos again and kept thinking do I do that? So I got some stitching sorted to do & guess what....yes I do, its so funny watching you do things slowly that I do without thinking. I have a few differing opinions but thats just personal preferences. Thanks again you did a wonderful job. (& IMHO your voice sounds fine )
  13. Hi ondi, check out ebay theres lots of leather on there in small quantities, it can be a more expensive way of buying in the long run though.
  14. Brilliant Nigel, thanks for sharing your knowlegde & thanks Mike for posting.

    Curves.

In my opinion theres no quick, easy way to cut neat curves its just plenty of practice, get used to your knife, make sure its sharp & "trust it", my knife feels like a part of my hand now. Good luck & be patient, you will get there
  17. Wow thats different
  18. Hi, with your awl I would put some small squares of leather on it to prevent you from going to far up it, you only need a hole large enough to just get your needle through. You are correct with the linen thread 18 is the size & 3 the ply, over here the other thread I use is poly cotton, a no12 is the eqivalent to 18/3, & no8 = 18/4, I also use a no20 not sure of the equilant but its finer than a 12, I only use that for very fine stitching, for everything else I stick with the linen threads. I must say that Im in the UK & the sizes may be described differently in the States. With your craftool punch I would be tempted to use it very lightly so it only leaves a mark on the surface of your leather then use your awl to actually make the holes.
  19. really nice, I only have 1 small thought & it is only my personal opinion, that is I would have tried to match the colour & size of the stitching around the edge to that on the interior, but it is still a lovely piece of work. well done.
