  1. It looks to me like the border line was scribed, cut with a swivel knife and then beveled with a smooth beveller. Like Dwight said, the bevel for the most part will go away but it does give it some "depth". Just my opinion.
  2. Thanks Dwight. I usually glue everything before I sew or lace and my gut feeling said it's the same for a zipper...but since I've never done a zipper I just wasn't sure. Guess I will just take the plunge and give it a try.
  3. Nice job on the holsters. On the holster for the snubnose I noticed you have t-nuts, finish washers and screws. Are you using these with a rubber washer inside for adjustable retention?
  4. Thanks for the info guys. Camano, guess I overlooked it in the Tandy pattern pack because of them calling it a caddy. That indeed is what I was looking for. Dwight, I like the way you described your method as it would allow the case to be made different sizes for different pistols instead of a one size fits all and I understand Murphy's law all too well as I have plenty of botched projects lol. Do you glue your zipper before you sew? I've never sewn a zipper and could use some good advice on how to go about doing it. Thanks again for all the help.
  5. Does anyone know where I can get a pistol carrying case pattern? I have searched here, on Ebay, and the web and all I come up with are pictures. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. I know this is an older post but would like to say good job on the seat. The slot between the rider seat and passenger pad is for a rider backrest. The metal bars of the backrest slips through the slot into a bracket mounted below the seat. FLH is Harley's designation for the touring bikes....Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide and Electra Glides. It should fit most if not all of these models.
  7. That is beautiful work and you have a very pretty daughter too.
  8. Thanks for the compliments. I may need to try brown thread on a sheath in the future....I have been using either black or natural mostly for the contrast in color, but the brown may work very well. I stitched the sheath after I put neatsfoot oil on it.
  9. Very nice work. I dont think I will ever be carrying a man purse, but when you think about it some of the toughest men in history carried one..... mountain men and the like......only they called it a possibles bag.
  10. I appreciate the comments. Sorry about the photo quality.....I've got to figure out how to take better pics. All I can say is I made the sheath like the customer wanted and he was very pleased with it. As this was a new customer, I wanted to make the sheath exactly as he wanted it. The stitching is a double saddle stitch......not much room to make the stitches pretty. I think I should have stitched the belt loop a little differently and only used a single saddle stitch, but the customer wanted a double stitch. As for the stamp patterns I only used 2 stamps...the basketweave and a border stamp. I did put my maker's stamp on the back of the sheath. Perhaps that's what you picked up on. My stamp honors my heritage and goes on everything I turn out. I think we all can look at what we turn out and can see some areas that we could change or do differently to improve or make it nicer. I know I learn something every time I work with leather, and hopefully I will continue to learn.
  11. Made this sheath for a customer that makes custom knives. Honest opinions welcome.
