  1. Which price is it for the dummy guns....you have stated 2 different prices in 2 different posts and your site has a 3rd price.
  2. Texas Custom Dies is one place. They make press and mallet dies. There are others as well.
  3. If you airbrush resolene on you can get the sheen you are wanting......simply by applying the number of coats to get the finish you are looking for.
  4. Sounds good Robert. Now that the weather has cleared they are wanting us to work 6 days a week.
  5. I would be interested Robert if I can find the time.
  6. Metallisomething, the link you provided is for cova color which is an acrylic paint and NOT a dye. For projects like a wallet or belt I would think you would be better off using a dye, tho you can certainly use either and get nice results. Both Angelus and Fiebings make an orange spirit dye. I have never used either so I couldn't say how well they cover. If you choose to use resolene for your finish be sure to dilute it 50/50 with water and apply it in lights coats.
  7. I would dilute them 50/50 with water and apply lights coats allowing either sheens to dry in between coats. I tried and don't like either sheen. Switched to resolene diluted 50/50 and now use mop and glo diluted 50/50. Any of these can be built up to get the look you want.
  8. I have the craftool 440 stamp which is just a little smaller than the 441 and it looks similar in the upper portion but not in the bottom portion of the border stamp the OP posted.....and it is not a rope or braid stamp others have posted.
  9. Airbrush is a good way to apply your sealer.
  10. Super sheen isn't very good in my opinion. I tried it in the past and had bad results with it. Resolene cut 50/50 with water is a much better finish. Apply it in light coats and build up to the look you want. You can also use mop and glow cut 50/50. Both are acrylic sealers. Another choice would be saddle lac.
  11. From what I can tell from the pic it looks like the leather wasn't cased well. With properly cased leather you don't have to hit the tool that hard to get a good bevel. The temper of the leather seems to have some to do with it too. Tandy leather is a hit or miss for good leather...more often a miss.
  12. Only thing I can tell you is if you don't use a large enough needle to accommodate the size thread you are using you will have problems.....ie ugly stitches, thread breakage, etc. Just because you can fit a thread thru the eye of the needle doesn't mean it's the right size needle. At least this has been my experience. If you were using a smaller thread before then you have your answer. You might try 138 in the bobbin to see if this fixes the problem or go with a larger needle. Either or both are cheap alternatives compared to getting a tech to check it out. Like Wiz said, I would try to eliminate every simple possibility.
  13. I may have missed it somewhere, and this may not be the problem, but what size needle are you using with your 207 thread? Reason I ask is because I've had thread break when using too small a needle on my singer clone. Just a thought.
  14. From what I can tell from the pictures it looks pretty good.
  15. That dye job really makes the indian head pop. Very nice job.
  16. I would say your biggest problem is using a heat gun to heat the kydex........very hard if not impossible to get an even heat. Overheating causes slick spots and shrinking in my experience with kydex. A heat gun is fine for heating small areas for adjustments. Just have to be careful of overheating. I always heat kydex to 300 degrees in an oven for a short time and usually never have a problem. Just my experience and opinion for what it's worth.
  17. I'm with Tom.......looks like you may have over oiled the belt or have not waited long enough for the oil to even out if you are getting that much rub off. I dye my pieces, wait 24 hrs, buff and never get that kind of rub off. Then apply a light coat of oil with a rag, wait 24 hrs and buff again, only getting very light if any rub off. I use Fiebing's pro oil black and brown quite a bit. How did you apply the neatsfoot oil?
  18. Nice work on both the belt and sheath. I've hand sewn only one belt......never again.....lol
  19. Very nice work on the chairs. I may just have to give them a try. I'm originally from the area down there and worked at one time for the San Jose Cattle Co.
