  1. What is the trick sewing around the point / belt end, and keeping the stitches Consistent and parallel?
  2. I purchased my first sewing machine last week. a Consew 206 RB-5. Learning about tensions, bobbins, needles, threads and a little bit of sewing leather. Current problem is the machine is leaving a trail of Foot marks as it walks on my leather, how do I avoid this? Also, Can anyone with the consew 206 recommend a edge guide so I can sew a straight thread border on my belts

  7. I just bought a 13oz veggie tan belt strap. very nice grain side. the flesh side is very smooth feels & looks like suede. I've never seen this before on the couple of shoulders and side I have bought before. can anyone explain.

  9. Camano, you stop short of the buckle end, is the billet end doubled layered? if so, no need for skiving?
  10. need help. I have only made a few single layered belts, what are the steps to double layered belts? do you skive the ends or single layer the ends. I have some 7 oz. that would make a good belt if doubled up.

Thanks for the encouraging comments. the leather is good looking, its W&C's Tooling/Holster/Carving Natural Utility 7oz its pricey 25.2 sq.ft shipped = $192.51 and they have raised their price sense then I made a fiberglass mold of the steel seat pan I used on this seat, stuff is really strong can be made as strong as needed with several layers, its light weight and can be shaped to fit any frame, kinda fun to work with
  12. Thanks Cyber, been using the table, ill give the hanging belt a spray Good question. I wear a respirator mask and leave the garage ( shop) door open when spraying oil dye. It's recommended not to get that stuff in your lungs, I assume the water base Eco stuff would be ok w/o a mask?
  13. question for you guys that use air brush when spraying dye on belt/guitar straps, what do you think gets the best coverage/ results: hang the belt vetically or layed flat on table? or no difference?
  14. I have read that after oil dye has dried, the leather needs a coat of neetsfoot oil helps moisten leather, because the alcohol in the dye Drys it up? What do you guys think

  17. It's been 20 hrs did not lighten. Here pic shows quite a bit of contrast but it does leave the leather soft and supple
  18. I did a test today, applied Sno Seal to leather scrape dyed with fiebings oil dark brown Darken the color a lot Did not gloss Water just beaded up and rolled off
  19. black basket weave stamping makes a tuff looking seat what did it sell for?
