Agree, that looks great that jacket, and with a speedy stitcher!!! Well done! well i would normally help you in this case my friend but i have had a rifirrafi with this guy from Sitomaco and FINALLY after a year of phone calls and emails (most of which he did not answer) he refunded the parts i sent back to him. Some parts fitted and others did not? so you might have better luck.

Hi There, Well done on your restoration job, It looks really good and the decals also look nice. I do not think you will find any drawings of the pinions from Singer but maybe someone has made a drawing up at some time because this is the eternal problem with the old 29k machines, the gears and rack wear down and people by new parts from the internet advertised for these machines but they are really only for the newer models 29k71,171 etc. There is someone on Ebay selling the leading pinion for these older models but you never see the long racks new for sale, only for the newer 29k71 types.

Fortuna model 10 skiver parts availability
jimi replied to AlizabethThomas's topic in Leather Machinery
Found a few pictures on the net, as i thought, the model number 10 did not ring a bell...they are here as the models C&G and there are possibly more, the newer ones are 50 XX and so on. The last two letters are for the options on the machine ,with drawer, with side cover, with vacuume, etc. -
One off table for the Singer Freaks!!! and 2 old 45k machines
jimi replied to jimi's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Just a curiosity.... Here is another crate that was used to transport the machines, in this case it was by the looks of it a machine that is very popular amongst leatherworkers and were made by the thousands! And they come up here on the forum A LOT!! Lol...see if you can spot which one it is? 65 x 30 x 48 cm is the box size. -

https://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollections/Trade-Literature/Sewing-Machines/CF/single-record.cfm?AuthorizedCompany=Singer Manufacturing Company The tables are in one of the larger 9-13 page documents which show all of the machines, then there is another with the safety unit at the end of the table (electric motor) and i think there are a few more in between, a lot of good reading here so make some fresh coffee! -

Great find, they look like the ones in the black and white photo from NZ. These ones are flat in the middle. -

Hi Eddo, Nice find and good to see you are saving old rust! The part broken will be on the 45k89 machine (45k56 and 89) here on the net.https://www.hendersonsewing.com/manual.asp?page=72 Looks like part #3033, the Feed Connecting Link, so like you say you will have to find a machine with reverse for parts and with the 45s they were not all that common with the reverse feature. Maybe you could try and repair it meantime by Tig welding? or brazing? That is the risk with old machines, some of the screws are really tight and can pop!. I normally apply WD40 then after that lots of oil, if it wont move after a slight tap with a hammer (if possible) then i get a small blow torch out and that usually frees it up. It doesn´t normally need a lot of heat to move them but if it is a no no then i tend to leave it where it is. It´s a pity because 1964 was near the end of the 45k run and it should be in very good condition normally but that one looks like it was lost in the bush!! I am sure it will work and look great in the end. Keep on truckin!! Just had a look and looks like Cowboybob is right, the connecting link looks the same as on my 21 but it has another part nº?? # 52165??

Fortuna model 10 skiver parts availability

From the picture looks like the whole bar with the feed roller is gone? You can buy these for the 801 type clones but the measurements could be different, If the feed from the back gear to the feed wheel is gone also then the clone ones may not fit but not 100% sure. That would depend on the axle diameter going through the bushing. A new one from fortuna cost about €250! ouch! Fortuna still are on the go and sell parts for their machines, i got some small parts from them a few years back, they were in Austria. but they are pretty expensive so maybe not worth buying new original parts from them if you are missing a lot?? At least over here you can find a abandoned skiver with all of its parts for about €3-400 if you look around. I would try to get a few more pictures to see what is and is not there at the back and underneath before jumping at it? If nothing else is missing, i would go for it. You could try asking LW member Danishman if he has any spare parts as he has been fixing a few of them up recently and may have something to spare. -

Maybe a picture would help, Fortuna model 10 gives me no results? -
Hi Brian, Here is a setup which might work for the leather without the webbing??? might give you some ideas, it looks quite neat with the two folded edges together in the end??? The only other thing i can think of is the typical motor, roller on table and folder setup which i am sure you have googled a million times Lol... And if you want to try your hand at a folder.....C´est si bon..Lol.

Woh! That is a great find, not many of them left, so did you buy the big one in the other picture?? what parts are you looking for? Thanks for posting. -
Ask Harley Davidson?? it could just be Printed leather??

If you don´t use it you can always string together the ham or the turkey for christmas €10 is a good price for that size of roll i think, those small Hoogen rolls are 20 each! ouch..then add postage...ouch again. It looks straight enough to use in the machine??? i have used the linen 18/4 in my 45k and it worked well, with only one turn around the tension disk. I am sure you can stitch a bag together with that thread?? or a belt...if you groove it for laying the thread down because it might fray easier. It would probably absorb any oil or wax you apply to it?? Or try making sandals?? your 89 can do that?? That would probably bee the same thickness as 207-277 bonded nylon?
-
This looks similar to the thread used for sewing soles on shoes but not sure?? I have some rolls for sewing sandals but it is linen thread not cotton.

There is a guy on Ebay UK selling parts for the class 7 machine? you don´t see them that often, He seemingly has a few boxes of parts for that machine so it might be worth while asking him?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/in2sewing64/m.html?item=124175815002&hash=item1ce974915a%3Ag%3A3dwAAOSwI49esEKe&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

Singer 45K89 missing tension parts or not?
jimi replied to Oldiesfan's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
That was a good price Oldiesfan, it will last another 100yrs at least lol....They had a different type needle plate and feed dog compared to the other models. The needle plate is flat on top and the feed dog is also flat and not curved, unfortunately they don´t copy them anymore but the other type you can find a cheap needle plate and feed dog which will fit on the other models. I think the holes are spaced differently so the plates are not a straight swap over??
