Brass Line 24 Snaps. A losing venture?
jimi replied to JerseyFirefighter's topic in Hardware and Accessories
Have you tried Waldes Snaps?? you can find small packs of 10 on the web to try out, or if you go to the supplier they sell boxes of min 1000 depending on the snap i think??, and they have there own dies and press if needed. They are made in Spain and have been in the buisness since 1928?. Also if you set a lot of snaps then buying by the thousand will end up cheaper in the long run?? If you need any pictures let me know, i have one here on hand at the moment. https://waldes.es/ -
Well done Toxo, that looks great and seems to work well? In the end how much was it for making, including the press??

Have you looked at the PDF folker uploaded?? If you look on page 6 where the binder 91-040 452-23 is, i think it refers to the binder installed on the machines 17/01 and 17/02? 335 17 means for binding so the /01 will be the type of binder setup. -

Here is a link for the restoration of two 335´s and some information of the numbering system for the Pfaff machines. Nice find Parfektionisto!! -
Thank you marronne and eddie

Very nice machine Marimari, can you send some more pictures when you get it working?

I would take off the check spring and have a good look and give it a clean, there might be a groove worn in there somewhere or you might see something catching?? On the 335 you have the small plate for adjusting the travel of the spring, adjusted by the small screw, and you also have the knob in the middle for the tension of the spring. I am sure you will find out what it is Toxo if the problem is there.
-
No, this only happens on the top side of your Adler where your material is.
-
Yes as Folker said, this is the pendulum effect, so the thicker you go the more you will notice the stitch length shortens. I would say this has nothing to do with the forward and backward motion of the feet because your outside foot holds the work while the inside foot and needle come into position.

Yes, Back and forth.

Singer Balance wheel replacement help
jimi replied to Campleathergoods's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I would go with Chris´s suggestion and JB weld it. I have done this on a SInger 45k leg that was missing and the break was similar to yours in the way it was where the screw passed through. I drilled 4 holes and inserted 3mm SS threaded rods in the mix then let it harden. The mix is quite thick and does not run in easily to the holes, then built a wall around, plugged the hole with a wax plug to preserve the thread that was left. After it was hard i then passed the tap through and it was done. I think your balance wheel should hold up afterwards.- 11 replies

Have you tried turning it off and on again!!! sorry, just remembered that ITT scene. Sounds like your going through a lot of tea bags Toxo!! I don´t have a adler 69 but a pfaff 335 which i think is the same, the take up spring should let go just as the needle hits the leather but apart from that i iam thinking if your machine was working ok before try to remember what was the last thing you changed?? It could be a twisty thread even'?? did you try another type of thread??could you maybe post a picture of your machine??

Looking real good Soren, nice job and can´t wait to see this finished

Ok Schlaumeier, so the 29k8 is a old one. On the head in the video above the two wings for changing direction of the foot there is a thumbscrew, bellow the second set of tension disks, this is for keeping the foot from turning if you want to stitch in a straight line. -

Hello, Yes you can just clean the thread path and the shuttle area first instead of taking everything apart to see if it works first. There are two types of bobbins for these patcher machines, one is the big one as in the video and the other is a smaller one where the thread goes through a small hole on the side. Could it possibly be 29k18 instead of 8?? could you post pictures of your machine and the brass plate?? there are a lot of posts referring to these patcher machines here on the forum and i have also cleaned one up just like many members here. -

Hi MariMari and welcome to the forum, I think this machine was made by a few makers, Adler, Atlas and maybe more? the pictures are very small but i think this post bed model had a roller wheel? I am not sure what model number this was given so i cannot say what needle size it is. Maybe someone has this type of machine and can say what needle size they use, sorry and good luck.

Hi, I may have a pinion left over.

Hi Sandor nice find and welcome to the forum. You can find information about the 45k models here in the search option, here is the link for the manual and some more useful info on these machines. Your 45kSV44 was superseeded by the 45k53, that is the number it was given before it was also superseeded by the 45k89 i think it was? and by the looks of your pictures there are a few parts missing from your machine which would be for the foot movement, you san see the parts on the 45k52 in the pictures. jimi.
