  1. Might find this helpful they say it can be used as a task light. You have the stuff, but this might give you some ideas about resistors and heat sinks. SkipJ
  2. Nice Job, what "leather" do you make them out of? SkipJ
  3. Found this on you tube: The video is in two parts, this is part 1. It's simple, but seems to work for him. SkipJ
  4. I found a book in our library called "Native American Leather & bead crafing which has 3 moccasin patterns. It's by Patty Cox. Copyright 2008. Nothing that looks like a 2 button moc but has some interesting stuff combining beading and leather. SkipJ
  5. If it were marked as coach or LV it would go for a couple of hundred . SkipJ
  6. Answers my question, thanks. SkipJ
  7. Johanna, I somehow posted a reply twice unintentionally. I wasn't trying to edit it, I didn't realize I had posted it. So now I have two posts exactally alike except one has one more line on it. I wanted to remove the first incomplete post. Do I understand you correctly I can't do that. Not a problem, just trying to keep from causing more work for you guys. By green, you mean the discription under the name on the left? Thanks SkipJ
  8. I would like to know how or perhaps if I can remove a post or reply of my own on the board. I somehow posted the same reply twice and couldn't figure out how to remove one; still don't know how it happened. I guess that's what I had in mind more that removing the beginning of a thread. SkipJ
  9. Does a new subject work the same way? SkipJ
  10. What's a Conway buckle? SkipJ
  11. Thanks Major, Good clear picturers. Should be helpful to beginners. The list of sources is important to me when I am learning. SkipJ
  12. I remember a "war" between two camera shops in MI years ago. One was open Sundays the other wasn't. The store that was closed on Sundays put up a sign when they were closed offering a popular camera for a unbelievable price which the store which was open couldn't match. Of course, when both stores were open the next day, the great price was unavailable. I guess they were trying to keep their competitor from selling cameras when they weren't open. It would jusr drive me away, but some folks didn't see what was going on. I wonder if something like this is happening with sewing machines. Or perhaps it was a buy at the show only special. Does Artisan Dave have the authority to make such an offer? He seems to represent Artisan on the forum. SkipJ
  13. Didn't Aritsan say that the discounted price was only good at the Wickenburg show? I assume that means for purchases at the show only. In my mind that differs from what the original post said. Someone said that all the machines were made in 3 (?) factories in the far east, if I recall correctly. Do they really differ? I bought an Artisan and can't say I've had any problems which weren't caused by my lack of knowledge of leather machines, and a few typos in the manual: re thread size combos that can be used. Steve set me straight on that. It would be nice if a sewing machine course could be given at one of the shows, but the sponsors don't want to favor any of their advertisers. Off the subject, I wonder what the two Leather Crafter shows are scheduled so close together? Perhaps because it works. Someone I spoke to at Kings in Sheridan felt it was too early in the spring for reliable weather in the region. SkipJ
  14. Came across this on you tube, dont know if it's been posted before: SkipJ
  15. Congratulations Lobo, Good to hear some good news nowadays. SkipJ
  16. I've seen a holster maker selling a holster set patterned after Paladin's advertised in the "Cowboy Chronicle" . Careful of copyrigts. SkipJ
  17. Hilly, one problem is finding a local company that sells leather sewing macines. I found out about one in Detroit from a friend who works with auto upholstry. I don't think they are in the phone book or internet. Just have to ask around I guess. SkipJ
  18. I have been thinking about the possibility of one on the Sewing Machine companies giving classes in "leather sewing machines for dummies" (although that title may be copyrighted). Artisan's video was a big step in that direction, but I still have a lot of questions on the operation of my Artisan. I was thinking about offering at Wickenburg or Sheridan. Not necessary for free. I've had so many problems with operating my machine which I think are of my own doing that I'd pay for the class. I don't even know what questions to ask. It took me almost a year to discover that I can't sew with the same size thread on thinner leather as I can with heavier material. I'm still having issues with it but don't know if it's something with the machine or the way I'm using it. SOrry about the ramble. SkipJ
  19. I guess I over reacted in the comment posted but I am very apprehensive about support. I've always dealt with Steve. Service is one on the deciding factors when I make a purchase unless it's somthing I can fix myself, not too many things fall into that catagory. SkipJ
  20. A little off track, do any of leather retailers resell Weaver products? I just received a new Springfield Leather catalog and noticed they sell Ohio Travel Bag products. SkipJ
  21. I just got a card from Steve re: his booth at Wickenburg representing Cobra sewing machines. I'm sorry I have an Artisan machine now, cause having Steve available for help was the reason I bought it. Have to give Artisan a chance to prove they can still provide the service that made their reputation. I wonder who is left at Artisan to provide advice? SkipJ
  22. I think it wouldn't be worth the effort to try to upgrade the iron. Need a new heating element and I don't know where one could be found if it would fit. Make magazine, http://blog.makezine.com/, have had a lot of articles regard soldering. Mostly electronic stuff. You need a higher output, wattage, iron than what they would use for pc boards ans surface mount electronics. SkipJ
  23. Sorry about your problem. It's hard enough to run a business without problems like that. Is the 11 oz leather you are using from Siegel? Or old stock of yours? SkipJ
