  2. I guess I didn't mention I'm taking the holster class. SkipJ
  3. Just wondered who else is going to Wickenburg, the leather show that is. Some folks from the NW are coming as I remember. Ski[J
  4. Ed, the pdf chart you posted listed a #6-40 NF screw. NF stands for national fine, which as I remember is a screw with a #6 diameter but with 40 threads per inch. Natonal course have less threads per inch but are cut deeper. I've never heard of an 11/64 screw size. SkipJ
  5. I think a lot of us are restrained by family location, although it isn't as important as it once was to most people. SkipJ
  6. I bought a byzantine weave wallet chain from: http://www.hawkwolfs.com/ That may be steveb's source. Mine is made of aluminum, but he does other metals. SkipJ
  7. Just received this email: Hello Harold, We are sorry you had to write about the trade show in Wickenburg. Everything is still on, including your class. We are working to get the trade show booklet completed and mailed this week. If you have any questions after you receive your copy of the book, please call. With best regards, Brian Stelzel The Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal
  8. Has anyone seen anything about the SW tradeshow and workshops in Wickenburg? Last year by this time, I had already received the schedule for it. SkipJ
  9. I stumbled across this site while looking for info on a Singer 15-31 I saw for sale on craigs list. It's about maintaining similar machines and timing them. I had to change my font size to read it. Hope it helps someone: http://www.tpub.com/content/aviation/10330/css/10330_51.htm SkipJ
  10. Just had another snow storm, after a high of 32 F Saturday it's going into the teens for a while. SkipJ
  11. Thanks for answering my dumb question, meaning every time I read about sewing machines, I realize how little I know and how complicated they are. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. SkipJ
  12. Here's a picture of the quilters thimble Rawhide spoke of. SkipJ
  13. Thanks for the info on the feeds, "Having Drop, Needle, and Walking feet is called "Unison Feed"" All three at the same time? What does the Artisan 3000 have? SkipJ
  14. Thanks for the reply's, I should have posted a picture on what I meant. It's like gunfighter48 said, just the lower part, away from the stock. I hadn't thought about rust under the leather, perhaps a less permanent solution is called for. Thanks again, skipJ
  15. Art, I don;t want to misdirect this subject but what are the different feeds you talk about. Can you suggest a site that might describe them. I'm planning on purchasing a sewing machine for western style holsters, lots of bullet loops, at Wickenburg and need to know what would be suitable. Also accessories needed. I've tried the Artisan 3000 and 4000. It's easier to sew the loops with the 4000 but also costs $1000 more. Since this is a hobby with me, I'm not sure the 4000 would be worth it. I guess I it didn't work out, I could get some of the difference back if I sold it. Thanks in advance, SkipJ
  16. I'm looking for a better way to cover the lever of a Marlin 1884 rifle. I bought it used and it has a strip of leather wound spirally around the bottom of the lever. I doesn't look that great and tends to come unwound. I've seen a fold of leather sewn around the lever used with the bottom fringed, but that doesn't appeal to me either. I was thinking of braiding if that would work. I guess the idea is to cushion the shooters fingers and dress it up. It's just the bottom of the lever that's covered. Thanks in advance. SkipJ
  17. I took the holster class last year and took an additional class. Let me know if I can answer any questions. Matt, John Bianchi's associate is in the forum, ha can answer questions better than I can. I got a lot out of it and I'm going back this year. I haven't seen a list of the other offering for this year except saddle making. SkipJ
  18. here is a list of bootmaking schools. http://www.dimlights.com/boots/features/schoolin.htm SkipJ
  19. Great job. Do you make the belt keepers? If you do, how do you get the grooves on them? SkipJ
  20. I wonder if cold blueing the steel would prevent the steel from reacting with the wet leather? You can get cold blueing in an applicator which works like a felt tip pen. SkipJ
  21. Your work Rayban? Those sure don't look like 22 long rifle. SkipJ
  22. And I though loops for 38's were bad. I would think with punched slots, you would have to spread the loops out, not adjacent to each other like on a western belt with larger cartridges or the belt will be like swiss cheeze. Seems to me that it's going to look strange with the 22's. SkipJ
