  1. My style could be described by some as "amateur rustic" (or tatty by others) I guess

    Which holes?

wow beautiful lions, you have an eye for charector thats a lovely peice of work!!
  3. try an eskimo thimble for pushing through, fits snug over the thumb you need to get a bit of offcut cut it oval shape about 1cm bigger than your thumb. put your thumb on top with 5mm either side spare leather and draw around top of thumb to 3/4 ish of the length of your nail then cut out the strap, bend back the loop slot over thumb, it is easy to put on and off and cheap to replace. i use a tube on my little finger to stop leather cutting into the knuckle when I pull tight too.
  4. I am from the uk near liverpool, on the other side of the mersey. So finding suppliers locally aint easy. I work in forestry, public side as a ranger, and as we are beset by problem youths with knives (not guns, yet!!) we love all the emergency services.
  5. it has a kinda crispy white/clear surface where the rain has contacted with it, like fine crystalised salt and faded colour.

    Stitching

Hi everyone, i notice that quite a few of your projects, stitching end in the final stitch wrapping around the edge of the project in a kinda loop, is there a reason for this or is it just a style thing

    it's just Drac

Thanks drac, i appreciate that, I guess I may have a go for the ladies in question and take it from there. See if i enjoy the challenge, it actually looks like fun to design the collars and stuff, comfy but restrictive..... Interesting! I eventually want to have a go at armour so i guess it is a good place to start understanding the body, and its movements. Luke, you lucky man. Drac Worse stories do tell, wait......... i can imagine, he he!
  11. Been looking for that stuff for a while cheers
  12. I can totally understand your dissapointment at your kit, thankfully you have a good kid there and sounds like he has patience to boot. It could have prooved to be the end of his enthusiam. Well done fotr keeping it together and congrats on seeing it through, when I bet there were times you were tempted to go back to the shop and insert said kit where sun don't shine in the customer complaints department. The journey was a good one and an important lesson has been learned, leatherwork is fun but not always easy or Straightforward. my nephews would never have stuck at it, and declared it broken at the first sign of trouble and gone and sulked about it.
  13. Where did you get those clasps again they look fab, fantastic design.
  14. i have recently been given, before the great crash of 08 a italian leather mask which has some rain damage and appears to have a very thin outer varnish layer. It is a repair job, what should i use to fix it? Carnuba cream?
  15. not sure about carribean stuff but it covers just about every where so could be.
  16. Ive got a book of signs ansd symbols at home I will get the isbn for you. It is round the world stuff but a constant companion in my to hand book pile.

    it's just Drac

I have been asked to make some cuffs, whips and paddles but have always turned them down so far, as I guess I feel I don't have the skills to make inroads into this area but I guess it could be fun to try, and the lady that asked was very pretty and I got a little embarassed/shocked. What do you line your cuffs with drac or is it down to preference? i guess it is a rude question, please think of it as just a little cheeky in this world of financial ties, Is there money in BDSM? I am guessing there is? and that it is somewhat speciallist. Do you make for commission or for a store? Sorry guess i am BDSM trade curious
  18. Thanks guys, I would go for seperate punches but I live in a terrace house where you can almost hear the breathing of the neighbours and tapping lots of lacings would not go down well at all as I have to time tooling my leather to times when my neighbours go out, which the seldom do. For now I am stuck with a rotary. Thanks for the advice I wish I could try them first, but I think I may go with the craftool as the modern osbournes may not be as good as those from the 70's.
  19. better than the pic, thats high praise indeed, the pic is fab in itself wow.
  20. Well i just crushed my forth cheap rotary punch the central pin buckled, i am going to need a new one and this time a better one. Which would you recommend, for sturdyness .....I have what my partner calls a tenacious grip (from years playing water polo, whittling and aikido before you ask) and don't have anywhere nearby to go and try them out. I am willing to pay upto £50 ($100) ish including packaging/post. I use medium to thick carving leather (2mm - 4mm) but may start doing some finer stuff anytime now. ideally i would like to be able to remove and sharpen the punches, and replace the anvil if it is ruined. Thanks in advance
  21. I am amazed by the quality and quantity of different types of oak leaf, awesome.... it really does show how different they can be whilst still remaining of excellent quality congratulations to all. Another ten years and i might enter something....
