Nice work, I'm a bit partial to the one on the left myself. I agree with Rohn, nice stitchin'. -

Red White & Blue Holster
snubbyfan replied to Rohn's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Nice holster, interesting and Patriotic color choice. I don't do much lacing I have done double loop lacing but not with 2 different colors of lace. I showed it to my wife, she said,"someone worked really hard to make that ugly holster." -
My wife says, "You're welcome, I shall strive to continue to be brilliant for you and your friends on the forum."

Burnishing edges on a holster
snubbyfan replied to LeatherCaptain's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I use Tan coat on the fuzzy side. looks like I missed a spot, didn't notice it until I looked at the picture.. Ya'll weren't supposed to notice that. -
My own personal daily concealed carry holster. I like the color but the problem is the belt I made's black. I know that color doesn't really make a difference when it's supposed to stay concealed but I just know that I'm going to have to make a black holster to match the belt.

I can't take credit for it. My wife thought of it. She just said, "so, put a clamp on it."

After dumping a bottle of Tan Coat on myself and an almost empty bottle of black dye across my work table, I started putting an Irwin Quickgrip clamp on the bottles to make them more spill resistant.

Burnishing edges on a holster
snubbyfan replied to LeatherCaptain's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Since my last post on this thread, I've changed my edge work a little. I've also worked on my picture takin' too. After the holster's tooled, dyed, molded, contact cemented and before stitching, I do my edge work. First I sand it with a sanding drum chucked in my drill press, then it's bevel, wet, burnish, let the edge dry then gum trag, burnish, let it dry then gum trag and burnish again. After that dries, I do the stitchin', top coat then burnish the edge one more time. I'm pleased with how it turned out. I do all my burnishing by hand. -
Best Blue Guns To Start With?
snubbyfan replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Good point, sounds like Utah's a bit different from a small town in the mountains of West Virginia. Lately I've had a run on J frame pocket holsters. -
Thanks, I'll check it out..

Sounds more like you could use a fid along with a stitching awl. After I got a fid I wondered how I ever got along without one.

Sunburst Color Belt

Yup, my own personal belt with a solid stainless steel roller buckle. It's also 2 layers of 9 ounce, hand stitched. -
Better Way To Do A Belt Loop?
snubbyfan replied to oscar621's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Depends on what it's for. For a field holster a stitched belt loop's fine. It can be contoured and stitched. On concealment holsters I prefer a pancake style. -
Best Blue Guns To Start With?
snubbyfan replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
My number most used blue gun is a S&W J frame snubby. Close behind is a S&W 4" 686, a 5" 1911 and a 4" K frame. The plastic frame gun guys see to like plastic holsters. -
Two new sheaths.

Looks like you know what you're doin'. Those look nice and clean. One thing, I think I would've connected the two stitch lines at the top. -
Sunburst Color Belt
snubbyfan replied to Allan1972's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Very nice, I like the color. I just finished hand stitching a matching double layer belt and holster. The belt's 2 layers of 9 ounce. For a tool belt I made a 2 1/2" wide belt out of 13 ounce leather. -
