Starting A NewHolster

What bland said. I've had good results using resoline with an artist brush and cover the painted letters with a few coats to seal. When dying use a brush to work in tight around the letters and a ways out so you have room for your normal dye application. Let that dry up, apply the antique and seal the whole affair. -

Here's a version I came up with for a 4.25" 1911. make it a skosh longer, change up what you want. PDF file is at the bottom of the post. Good luck! I have made a similar version without the retaining strap. 1911 Commander Rohdesian Holster.pdf

Look on YouTube for Horane - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsVt6cz7ruCl1IgogxMTaUQ, he posts good videos of the build and offers free pdf templates. There's a nice money clip, metal spring clip type, bifold wallet in his video's with a pattern. Good luck!

Creasing vs stitch grooving
sideforce replied to Scootch's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
When using linen thread I cut a stitch grove. Back in the day, I used a marking wheel and awl for the hand stitches down the stitch grove. Today, with the high tensile, tough thread, like Rita Tiger Thread, I'm not cutting a stitch grove, I mark a stitch line with my dividers and predominately use my diamond chisels to cut the stitch holes. Depending on the project, the old awl still has it's moments. No reason you couldn't cut a stitch grove to sink your stitches below the leather surface, and then use the diamond chisels to cut the stitching holes. -
