    I use craft paints I get from A.C. Moore for about a buck a bottle. I cut them 60/40 water to paint, and that seems to work for me.

    I have to agree with Ricky, that book is a must read. I can't find the link for it, but someone here posted it. Well worth the money, and it's a real easy read.

    Try "Calligraphic ornaments" for the real fancy stuff. I have the Dover book with that name, and it's been a great source of frustration for my ham fisted self. Just can't get the gentle touch needed.
