  1. Way nice looking planks there and there's your stamp. It looks excellent! Recognize those hands, well the look on them anyways. It looks like the edge beveler is not all that friendly with you yet, mine hates me. I only use mine with wet edges otherwise it is totally out of control and very little pressure. Had to do with dry edges yesterday and hmmm, turned out...not perfect but kinda decent. Tom
  2. Lovely, those roundeyed skulls are very nice! What are you using for main colouring. Always a very nice orange/yellowy tone that I like about your main colour. I just get plain boring brown from my original tans (I assume you are using tan) so I have to be more creative like with the stirrup red mix. Tom
  3. Hi There Fishguy! I'm in the making of a pair of flyfishing rodtubes and to get it rigid and round I'm using a plastic pvc tube inside. I have some very thin foam (the stuff you put under some flooringtiles) wich I will wrap around the plastic tube before sliding the leather on it. The leather will be laced together off the tube to be able to run the needle through wich could occur some fitting problems if my calculation is wrong (to much shrink from tooling etc) and heres the main reason for the foaming. If the leather is to snug I can remove the foam sheet, if it's to loose I can add more layers. I thought I attach the first layer foam with some strips doublesided tape with good stickability against the pvc tube and then at top and bottom wrap some duct tape really tight around the foam. That way I can easily remove the foaming, but I hope not. This link take you to the project. Not much has happen and I'm working slow with this. Deadline is a bit away. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...pic=913&hl= Tom
  4. Ha ha this one was great! Well done and thanks for sharing! Tom
  5. Did you notice the little chain on top of my strömsländan bag? Just for that purpose i attached the chain, that bag will contain two pretty expensive flyfishinreels and, bummer if they fall out. I love the ceramic angled blade for long (or short) straight lines, the angle is perfect and makes it really easy to navigate along a scribed line, also I have a forehead light, LED type to avoid shadowing. Of course I don't have many blades to compare to here at Tjäderläder Sweden. Yeah, right, and I'm as athletic as a refigerator!!! C'mon, your stuff rocks!!! Tom
  6. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I love the furry sides. Bear?? Swap the hangerthingies on the pullingcords for skulls and some pyramidnitar on top of the strap and I think it'll fit right into my heavy metal way of thinking! Having troubles writing 'cuz my mind's so busy (yeah, I do have place for one thought at a time). Tom
  7. Hello and Welcome, Crystal! Here's a link with some related content to your problem: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...ic=1604&hl= Welcome aboard! Tom
  8. Thanks Beeze, it sure is beautiful! Hey Froghunter, I'm gonna enjoy the company. If you teach me to splice I'll pose in my funny hat for ya Tom
  9. This weeks?? Didn't you put a finsihed one up here the other day? Man, me think you mean this days seat, lol. It looks awesome and I'm hoping you wont have to do black on this one but if I had to colour that I think I'd endulge myself in those black and reds wich of course is painstakingly long hours with this seat. Nice lacing, what type is it?? Looks like a mexican basketweave but 7 hours seems just way fast for that. Or I'm just way slow with it Tom
  10. Update! Slowly the wheels have started rolling. I have to June 1 to make it ready so I don't wanna stress it. So far I have made one handle with mexican basketweave ready and a sausagehandle wich I've yet to decide wether I can use it or not. The ends looks to ugly and I'm not sure it will fit the finished product at all. We'll see bout that. Any tip how to finish the ends on such a piece with turned leather and foamtubing for shape inside is greatly appreciated even though I have some ideas. Working on the plastic innertubes to lighten them up, they are too heavy now. Some drilling holes and sanding and then start cutting the leather that will wrap around. Gotta shop some lining too and start sewing on that, asap. Tom
  11. Hello and welcome! Nice piece, gonna look sweet with the lacing! Tom
  12. Looks really good to me! I like the design with the skulls and the florals (are tose called thistles, the kind that itches when touched?), the look very good on leather. Sweet job! BTW, didn't you do a tutorial on those kind of inlaid braids and if so do you happen to know if they are online anywhere? My fingers aren't sore yet so maybe I should try something new! I look forward to see this one finished, I think it's kinda cool seat. Prolly depends on what kinda bike it'll go on to see the whole outcome of this one. Tom
  13. Great work Jeffzilla! I've had one Irish wolfhound and this picture finished just touched me inside since there's a strong resemblence to my ol' Charlie that passed about twelve years ago. Very lifelike and great carving/tooling. I love it! Tom
  14. Hi and welcome Jim! Nice cues and a welcome source of inspiration, I'm currently undertaking my largest project to date with the making of two tubes for flyfishingrods and cuecases does have some similarities. The carved ones really look great and it was fun to see the red one with zippers 'cuz I've been wondering what it would look like to throw in a zipper in such a designed leatherpiece and I think it looks really great actually. Thank you and once again welcome to leatherheaven! Tom
  15. Hi again, got so caught up with the stiching so I forgot that darts sheath. It appears to be a really nice design, maybe round of the corners on the flap a bit. Lacing seem to be good like the Spider bro dude says and that strap/retention thingie is highly interesting. I'm in the making with something that will need fastening straps that doesn't come open and I just can't find the right brass hardware (antiqued) for it so I'm really curious to see that in detail. I'm starting to think I will have to get creative on this issue or give in to using regular brass. Well, go figure out that camera and you're on your way to leatherheaven! Tom
  16. MAN, theese pictures are truly amazing! About your composition problems I'd suggest scavenging photoforums and naturephotography sites for bear and animal images if you need to get thoose creative juices flowing, not that you seem to lack of them but the main issue to work with in photography is composition I think so it might come in handy for you. Tom
  17. Hi Bob! Sure is hard to make out much from theese photos, but the overall feeling I get is that it appears to have a lot of potential so keep tooling and hopefully get some sharper pics up. The seam on the demon is a wee bit uneven, I'm sure you noticed. Not any good with stitching myself but one suggestion is to try and get the holes a bit closer together and mark up the holes with the aid of an ruler. I poke the holes with my awl from the grain side and down on a soft wood board so the awl penetrates at correct angle and all way through. Then I pick up the leather and run the awl through again to widen the holes. I use a bit of wax to make it slide through easier. Oh and I make all the holes ready so I wont have to dabble with awl so much when sewing. Looking forward to see more from you! Tom
  18. back Beaver! Glad to have you around again! Looks to be a great tut this one and inspirational too. I have a vest top-piece abandoned years ago laying around. Tooling looks awesome already on this one, so Tom
  19. Definetly a hot item! Unique and nice motif and the border is really nice and should appeal to the biker scene I think. Did you come up with the border yourself? Good luck to your both! Tom
  20. As I recall it you are studying (or have recently) design in one way or the other? Well, it clearly shows if that's the case. Very nice, clean and cunning designs and I think those probably has alot of thought about function from your side. I like the natural ones best 'cuz the braided string shows at it's best that way. Congrats on the nice business opportunity Tom
  21. I'm huffin, I'm puffin, I'm trying to blow some of the cold snowy weather your way! Tom
  22. I know that feeling when you have to put things down. Working on the rod tubes now and there's a lot of steps to consider so it happens all the time with this one. Some things you just gotta think ahead and not rush head first into. Tom
  23. As much as i like the design and the leather inlays, it's early morning here and that colour is rather shocking to my eyes, lol. Those skulls go very nice with the texture of that inlay, I dig it stonehard! Very nice as usual, Kevin! Tom
  24. I second that for sure! Nice with the red inlays and I liked that you've given the leather an all-over texture. You sure have a creative mind and as usual alot of fun to watch your stuff. Tom
  25. WICKED!!! I love it and the smart thought behind it. That skin ripping open showing the flesh looks really good. Love that marble slab aswell, looks like a big piece of candy for a leatherworker. GOOD JOB, BRUDDA :skull3: Tom
