This will be the stupidest question you’ve ever answered.

Are you sure that you are using the correct needles ? -
Same as I replied to your other thread Search for.. slave collar ring HTH :)

That is exactly what I was referring to in my post above you Paloma :) We pay around $8.00 for 200ml even buying it it small 200ml bottles..200ml is just a little over 7 oz. I think that amy roke is just doing what a lot of sellers do ( not only Chines ).. re bottling at a huge mark up for selling to the naive.

Pfaff 335 clone sold as a genuine Pfaff
mikesc replied to vanessaFrance's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Chris, there are an awful lot of fakes of everything, not just in leatherwork..But in leatherwork, it is right the way along the chain, from fake thread and needles, through fake parts, fake machines , fake finished items, fake branded items, bags , clothes, boots etc. The fact that some clones are so accurate ( at least the exteriors are) that means if you don't have the experience, you might be buying a fake..be it a spool of thread, a box of needles, a hook, some internal parts, feet, an entire machine, a motor, a stand..The list of fake "anything" is as long as the list of genuine "anything".. "caveat emptor" is over 2000 years old..there are, and have always been crooks everywhere that there is money to be made.. -

It does have tendency to "air cure" in the nozzle.. pressure guns force the "plug" out with a couple of very quick "blips" on the trigger..you can slow the curing right down if you keep the tube in the fridge in the coldest part..But not in the freezer..IME ( depending on the brand ) tube life if kept in the fridge when not in use is about 6 months..left in "atelier" temp ( here it has been over 25°c for a while now ) tube life is about 15 to 30 days..I have an atelier fridge just for chemical stuff ( and atelier beer ) ..keeps the peace with Mdme :)..The less air that can get to the tube contents, via the nozzle, the longer it will last, but it does sort of "chain react " backwards into the tube once air has got to any in the nozzle. You could try clearing the nozzle ( in the USA you'd just buy a load of nozzles, they are dirt cheap there ) and finding a screw on top for the tube..very airtight, or, a not quite so tight one, but put some cling film on the outlet before you screw it on..or wrap PTFE tape around the end before screwing a top on.. Humidity also makes it cure faster..rainy days it will go "off" quicker. -

Just got home and saw this "update" .. A win for you and LW :) :) and C-C . Great news..Don't forget to let them know " la bas" ( chez C-C ) sellier42 especially..they'll be pleased too.. Ah..I just saw that you did post on C-C just before 15.00 hours..and you say there you even got the guy to chip in €100.00 "gas money" for your troubles .. If you want to pm me with the name of the dealer..I'd be interested..I can tell people I know in the PACA who to avoid if they are buying machines. ps..If you lived nearer , but you are at the other end of the country, there is a local dealer selling a "lot" 21 industrials, all tri-phase, on BC Bretagne ,he wants €2000.00 for the lot, but I don't know if there are any triple entrainement leather machines in there, I haven't had time to contact him ( nor can I tell from the pics ) probably not , even less likely any are "à canon".. usually on "lots" they break out the "triples" and the especially the "canons" and sell them individually for more.. https://www.leboncoin.fr/commerces_marches/1653756691.htm/ I'd have no where to put them while I disposed of them :( You'll have to keep you eye on the BC..some bargains do show up..I just missed earlier this year a Juki 441 "as new" under €2000.00, ( that was not a typo ) with a load of thread ( owner died , family were disposing of it all, a dealer got it) ..and a brace of Adler patchers , again "as new" recently bought current models, ( again owner died ) family wanted €200.00 for the pair, ( that was not a typo either ) with loads of spares and a box of thread on big cones.. I'd have had no space for any of them, but at those kind of prices, I'd have stored them with my neighbour ;), w sworn him to secrecy, and in a years time told my wife "you don't remember the ones I left chez Hérvé a few years ago" ..I only have 7, they might have slid in there un-noticed if they were in his garage, and not in our living room.. Re what kind of machine to get.. Read the sticky thread up at the top of the page by Wiz https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/25239-the-type-of-sewing-machine-you-need-to-sew-leather/ and if you are wondering if anyone has ever discussed a particular machine here..search in your favourite search engine, like this next line site:leatherworker.net machine only where I wrote machine..you write the machine..for example Pfaff 335 so you'd search site:leatherworker.net Pfaff 335 the results would have every thread here that ever mentioned a Paff 335 ( including this thread ) ..every discussion that mentioned them at all. HTH :) There are more leather workers where you are Avignon area, than here in Bretagne..more machines should show up there than here. -

Speed Reducer mounted directly onto Servo Motor
mikesc replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Re the pics posted by Constabulary from the German forum.. Looks to be a way to save space, and allow possibly easier access for changing of belts..but.I don't understand the point of using round cross section belts ( which look to be leather ? like on old pedal powered machines ) in pulleys designed to run trapezoidal section rubber / fibre composite ones with teeth..Lot of power is being lost there due to the very small area of contact on the pulley surfaces by a round belt instead of ones that fit the pulley slot profile. -
Price of Stahl edge paint in France is way less than $30.00 ( if that is what the Op is asking ) .. OP is maybe** a distributor for Asia Pacific region, not exclusive worldwide distributor*..Maybe that misunderstanding is down to auto-translation ? Stahl labs and sales distribution by country / region can be found on this page of Stahl corporate website. https://www.stahl.com/global-contacts * any company that has a website , says that "We got the exclusive distribution", but who uses a hotmail or a gmail address does not inspire confidence in me personally. **OP is also not listed anywhere on the Stahl corporate website as being a sales or distribution outlet in any country or region.

Ah..I see now :) ..Here trucks rarely deliver Saturdays..and ( with the exception of Carnies and Circus people, and a handful of others ) no trucks are allowed to roll on Sundays.. Businesses tell trucks the hours that they are open for deliveries..outside of those hours, the transport company has to accept to pay a surcharge ( taken off what they get paid ) to have someone there to receive them..or to have the driver sit in a truck park somewhere 'til the next day..the customer does not pay for that time if that happens..the transport company ( or the despatching customer who has hired them ) has to pay ( or be paid less ) for non respect of delivery times or hours..If the police ( of any version, Gendarmerie, Police Nationale see anything rolling on a Sunday that needs a truckers licence to drive it, French or foreign, they'll stop it, ( usually ) fine the driver, on the spot, escort him to a cash machine to get the money, and give him a ticket..extreme cases they'll just immobilise the truck and the driver will wait in a cell until the courts open Monday.. In reality they "look the other way" a lot, for farmers, ( a lot of agricultural and forestry stuff is allowed to roll on Sundays ) livestock usually isn't,, but.., boat transporters, removal trucks being "owner driven", trucks near ferry ports and airports, all kinds of things, but they do not have to. Exceptional loads ( like aircraft wings on huge trailers etc ) get a pass from the equivalent of the Governor's office ( préfecture, but préfets are appointed, not elected )..as does anything military.. -

But, ( and I hear you Alexander.. We all need time with our families, I've been a "one man band" too, still am, (my son helps, but he has his own stuff, likewise my wife ) for 98% of my working life )..But, What I don't get is why in the USA , businesses close for the entire weekend, ( which is often the only time available to shop for others, potential customers, who can't get away during the week, because their boss says no, or because they too are one man bands themselves and are open all week ) rather than do what so many countries do, close on Sunday..and also on another week day..like Monday ( gives a two day break )..or Wednesday ( mid-week break) ..That is still two days off.. How do you, who work all week, and close all weekend , buy from others who work all week , and who close all weekend ? Non of my business ( I don't mean to pry ) how you arrange things or why, but I'm genuinely curious ..I've no wish to cause any offense :) ..Back in the day, when I was open to the public, I was shut Sundays ( because so was everyone else ) and also Mondays, so our family got two days break, and we could also, if we needed to, use the Monday morning or afternoon for buying things that absolutely had to be seen in person. I don't remember everywhere being closed for the weekend when I was in the USA during 70s and 80s..maybe it is a new thing, or maybe I was in areas Florida , West Palm beach, Miami, Disney land ( Kissimmee ) , New York, Boston, San Francisco and very briefly Los Angeles..where it doesn't / didn't happen ? You worked with Carnies and Circus people too ;) ..For some of them, I would make exceptions to "We are open between 10 am and 18.00 hrs" Tuesday to Saturday inclusive.. -
Whatever you do , do not get a sailright..( think Reliant Robin or Trabant of sewing machines ) get a true walking foot machine..and if you need simple zig-zag with wide bight..look out for a used Singer 20U..( the ones with the paler blue and the thread stand that folds up from behind are better than the ones with the thread holder horizontal on the top )you can also , with a bit of practice, ( and a swap out needle plate ) use the Singer20U to do freehand embroidery work.

I think Solar is the one he was referring to..which is shut on weekends. Shut Sunday I can understand, ( everyone could do with a day off per week, even if they are not religious ) but to shut Saturday too..unless the business owners ( not thinking only of Solar there, but in general it seems weird to me for any business to be shut all week-end ) are orthodox..? Here lots of places are shut Sunday, and from 12.00hrs 'til 14.00hrs on all the other days..which, as I always think when they tell me , means they are only catering to the unemployed or the retirees, because every body else is working ( and would need to take time off, or close their own business to go shopping ) when they are open.. Then again, I haven't been "open to the public, or any type customers" on any day of the week, since 2003..still in business(es), but no "face to face" on my turf. Starwind0 , I hope that you find someone who is willing to stretch their opening times or days to accommodate you, and exchange your money, at a fair price to you both, for a machine that you'll be happy with. -

Try the kind of "silicone/ polyurethane" glue in a tube that is used to stick car trims and windscreens on, or things to Polyester boat hulls, similar ( but waaay better ) than the stuff that you use to seal around the bath..We don't have the same brands here as you do, but a visit to a screwfix or similar and get whatever is for marine use..here it is about €15.00 ( retail ) for a 500ml cartridge..In car body shops it is put on with a "gun" that uses compressed air to "push"..it will go off quick once applied..you could squirt it, smear it out if you have access, or just squash it out to stick..Lot of car trim , badges and the chromed placcy bits..and the glass is stuck on this way.. HTH :) now back to what I was supposed to be doing, and took a break from. Motor factors, or garage / car body repair suppliers will have it.. -
JLS said I now need a new irony meter, this one just broke ;)

Ah "The Met " and the CPS..bless 'em..the same ones that tried to do photographers for being "too tall"..their chosen interpretations of the law vary more than the wind and tides do..But , yes..we are forgetting the sewing machine in question, Vanessa asked me around midday( my time ) via Pm it we could talk on the phone, I replied within 15 minutes, soon as I noticed the Pm, said "yes, but I'd be busy until 14.30 to 15.00 my time", I asked for her number so as to ring her when I was free. Haven't heard a word back from her since..and now, after killing time, for an an hour and a half since 15.00, ( 16.40 here now ) tinkering around with a computer or two. and posting a bit in between, while waiting for her to get back to me ..I've now got to do other stuff again ( including going out ) calls to make and to take, work to do, so won't be available to phone maybe until tomorrow, if then. She'll have to see how it goes with her dealer given what I've posted..and what she was told on the French forum( http://cuir-creation.forum-box.com/index.php) ..a place that I can recommend if one speaks /reads / writes French ( which was more or less what I told her here, minus the parts about the "fisc" and the URSSAF )..as long as she doesn't try going in with a "secret squirrel pen" in France..she should be OK ;) -

If some one could get away with disguising a Pinto to look like Cadillac and selling it to you..it would still get you from A to B , which is what a car does.. But you'd be pissed if you'd paid Caddy prices for a disguised Pinto, and the seller would have committed fraud..and probably some other things under US law. -

The best quick example to point you to..is that when you phone the ICO they specifically say they are not recording you, if they were, they have to tell you, and you have the right to refuse that anyone does.. Recording someone in their place of business or home ( for whatever reason , requires their permission ) ..it is not because one can do something , or buy something, that it is legal to do so or to use it..For the details as to what one can and cannot do, legally , in the UK as in the EU in general ( for the next 90 days the UK is still governed by EU laws ( which I'm not going to go finding to link to ) ..ask a lawyer ( "rights to privacy law" in the UK is a speciality ) ..it can indeed be criminal, in some circumstances ,to record, take stills or video of someone, in a private place, a place of business, or even in public ( think "taking photos of other peoples kids on the beach", or recording them, audio or video , or anyone )..which will get you a visit from "the Bill" etc in short order, and possibly a court appearance, with maybe a sentence ) ..without their permission, given in advance*.. In France the way to have an event "witnessed" is to take along someone else..but only a witness statement ( as to what they heard or saw or what was said an Huissier ( bailiff ) ) counts for full legal weight..here it is known as a constat.. a Huissier will cost one about €400.00 per hour ( paid "up front" ) here in Brittany, maybe more in Marseille ( you have to pay for the sun in the PACA ;))..plus any eventual expenses that they may incur ( travelling etc ) ..if it goes, in the case of this sewing machine it is a mixture of a civil and a criminal case ( the criminal part would be brought by any of the various authorities I mentioned above ) ( eventually ) to court, and one wins..one can ask for the other side to reimburse the costs of hiring the Huissier.. *One of the things that TM did not like about the EU was it's laws ( which over ride any pre-existing UK laws ) governing privacy and who could record whom and why and in what circumstances..laws which apply not just to governments, civil servants, police, businesses, but also to private individuals.. Being recorded by the hundreds of thousands of CCT cameras in the UK doesn't count..they thought of that when drafting the laws..although TM would have liked to be able to take them far further than the EU allowed her to. "Civil legal cases and affairs" can "flip" ( partially or wholly ) into Criminal law ones remarkably easily..Drilled into me by my lawyer, barrister, judge and police mates when I was in the UK..The ones I know here say the same thing..added to which the various Tax authorities here have powers that they don't in the UK..like they can seize your bank accounts and assets without requiring a warrant...They just tell the bank " block it"..and the bank has to do so..by law..then ..they will write and inform you..meanwhile ..all your money ( that was not actually in cash in your pocket ) disappeared. -

Can't use that type of thing ( surreptitious recording ) In France..or the UK or anywhere in the EU ( exceptions made for "Journos" ) with out informing the other party in advance that you are recording them..Can get you into a world of pain with the authorities, police, lawyers, judges etc.. re Charge backs on cards, like stopping checks / cheques..here in France you cannot do either of them because of a commercial dispute, ( dispute with a trader or service provider ) only in case of fraud, in which case an official police complaint has to have been already made before the banks and / or card issuers will accept to do it..and it costs you to do it.. Exception to those charge back conditions being if the charge to card or cheque, was done via "distance selling" or "door to door sales"..in which case in the former you have 14 ( used to be 7 ) days to "retract" ( change your mind and cancel the card payment, it will still incur a fee ) ..door to door sales person, or contract signed in your home away from the sellers place of business..you have 7 days in some cases, 14 in others ( depending on what it was for ) again cancelling will incur a fee. Stops people ordering things, using them, wearing them, sending them back saying "didn't like it".."changed my mind"..you only get a reasonable amount of time to decide..except with paypal, who most businesses should avoid selling through like they would avoid Ebola. -
that link 404s ( actually it doesn't even 404, it says "server not found" ) Chris..looks like they didn't think to redirect the non www to the www.. try this http://www.schallandson.com/

I'm thinking that your bobbin thread may be catching on the underside of that bent plate occasionally , as it goes over the hook / basket assembly* ( and so the lower thread necessary to form the stitch thread in the bobbin of a machine that should only run 138 on the bottom as it can't clear the underside of the RH plate every cycle, so it skips stitches sometimes..You could try a few "taps" with a hammer , or work on removing some thickness from it with a Dremel ( like one does to be able to get away with 207 thread in the bobbin, to improve the underside clearance of the damaged plate ) while you are waiting for a new plate to arrive. * would explain why it works OK with the RH plate off.

You need to threaten them with the DGCCRF https://www.service-public.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/F34284 and maybe mention that you'll talk to the BCR / BCF Marseille region, ( brigade de contrôle fiscal.."fisc" for short ) I have friend who is their head here for le 22.. Most business owners are terrified of getting on the wrong side of the DGCCRF ( the paperwork will drown them ) they will prosecute if he does not refund you, the publicity would be very bad for his business..Also if you bought via "le bon coin" or similar, threaten to report him for fraud and selling contrefaçon..They would kill his account..He would not want that.. BCF or BCR..they ( and an investigation by them are any businesses worst nightmare in France, especially as most businesses ( especially in the South ) will be making around 10 to 20 % of their income as undeclared cash ( Black ) ..When ever I visit Jean-Mi, his phones are ringing constantly with people denouncing businesses for not declaring money to the fisc or to the URSSAF.. and l'URSSAF for good measure. URSSAF is the other leg of the nightmare for French businesses, being investigated by them ( you'd just have to tell them that you saw cash changing hands while you were at his premises ..same for the BCF/ BCR .. Mention that you will be contacting all those organisms, if you don't get your money back, cash .. adding.."Ce serait dommage si"... ( you could hum a few bars of the Dalida song of that name to him, ask him if he knows it ..to drive the point home ) .. :) Bon Chance Edit..you posted re Cuir-creation while I was typing ( good forum ) ..In the light of what you have found..( take some screen shots ) definitely visit the dealer as per my suggestions.. I'm reading your thread at cuir-creation now. What does your facture ( receipt say ) say ?..Ok belay that..I read "la bas" that it is a "bon d'achat" which says Pfaff 335. I agree with most of the people on that cuir creation thread..ex specially with the comments by Sellier42..bear in mind that contacting the BCR /BCF, URSSAF and DGCCRF will cost you nothing..I notice also that it was the Gendarmerie, that is fortunate as the Munis are a waste of space and air, and the Nats are a similar waste of effort talking to, for this kind of thing..Gendarmerie carry more weight, and put some fear ( but not as much as the others that I've mentioned BCF/ BCR and URSSSAF ) into les escrocs ( crooks ).. You have to be quick with the DDPP and the DDCSPP.. or they'll change the name and the acronyms again to something even longer and harder to remember.. ;) https://www.economie.gouv.fr/dgccrf/coordonnees-des-DDPP-et-DDCSPP
