  1. Take up lever on that machine Juki 341 Part is #B1905241H00 There is one for sale on Ebay in California for $40.00 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Juki-B1905241H00-Thread-Take-Up-Lever-/202649256096 HTH :) Parts list ( pdf ) is here https://www.universalsewing.com/tek9.asp?pg=parts_juki You are looking for Model LS-341N or 341N-7 The parts list exploded diagrams should give you an idea of if you feel up to replacing the part yourself..My advice when disassembling and repairing anything..go slowly, take lots of pictures ( so you don't get left with parts "over" at the end ) ..oil everything before you try to take it apart..don't force anything. You can probably braze / weld the broken one to fix it*..But $40.00 seems reasonable for a part that seems to be made from unobtanium. * Fix the broken one , buy the other one..if the brazed / welded broken one works, ( don't see why it shouldn't ) keep the other for a spare..or sell it.
  2. Convention says ..don't bogart..pass it on..to the person next to you..and mind that you don't get locked in the refrigerator. :)
  3. There are Leather Manufacturers Associations and Chambers of Commerce ( whose members include very many of the leather manufacturers and tanneries ) in both Lahore and Sialkot..( Pakistan ) where there are many manufacturers using soft ( chrome tan ) leather to make garments..Cow, Buffalo, Goat, Sheep..up to 3mm or 4mm ( a few use thicker leather )..There are a smaller number of them who use veg tan..There are many more tanneries in Pakistan and in Bangladesh who produce Chrome tan, than there are who produce Veg tan. You would be able to ask them for information in English or Urdu , or Punjabi. I hope that helps :)
  4. The most awkward thing about Paypal's "guest" option not being shown to some countries, is, it comes and goes..some countries will see it for a while, and then it will disappear, for a few months, or a year, or more, and then it might come back, or not. That and paypal allowing chargebacks for up to 360 days ( despite them saying they only allow for 180 ) , and potentially freezing funds* because the site is selling more than paypal thinks they should. Any non bank "processor" is extra cost and complications, if you are running a registered business. The cost of a bank merchant account is deductible, with better rates than a processor.I'd rather lose sales than sell via any non bank processor. Banks are cheaper than processors ( including paypal et al ) for micro payments too, for any definition of micro payments. You can also go and meet your bank staff "face to face" if any problems arise. *I know of many businesses ( some of them in leather and "fashion" ) who have had their funds "frozen" by paypal, because they started making more money per month than paypal thought they should.
  5. Could have added something about cute girls, maybe even named one or two,, how there should be no videos, and how handmade shouldn't mean might cost more money, and not hanging around with some kinds of people..but that wouldn't have been relevant to card processing on websites, nor anything else, nor would it have been a simple straight answer...but that's forums for ya. :) .. 6. IME..Much easier to open a merchant account with your bank, accept all cards, saves giving commission to all the card processors, paypal and the other middlemen.
  7. Depending on what the gasket is made from*, it will squash down, to a greater or lesser degree, over time..Eventually the machine will be sitting flat(ish) again, all machines with gaskets tend to sit a few millimetres higher at the front than than do at the back ( hinge side ) ..If it isn't leaking, and is running OK, then it isn't critical. * They are not all made from the same materials, even for the same machines.
  8. Paloma..if there is still Balitrand at Cannes la Bocca..you will be able to get brass rod there..or in the zone artisanal at Nice..I can't remember the name of the company at Nice..or drive over the border to Génes..easy to get welding supplies there..even Jewellery supplies. Nice cheap little wire bending jig that is SilverForgeStudio..here, without going to the specialist shops ( in France they are all in Paris or Lyon ) that would be "unobtanium"..Italy is nearer for Paloma. and Amazon ( even with shipping ) is probably much cheaper than any Parisian suppliers would want for the same jig. Example Chinese arbor press, 1 ton, in France around €80.00 to €125.00, same press, Chinese, shipped in from Germany via Amazon..€58.00 inc shipping.. None of the French "big box DIY groups" stock an arbor press, most do not know what it is, and yet I have a friend who has 3, old ones made in France pre WWII at Clermont Ferrand or Saint-Étienne, one of them will probably press 25 tonnes..almost all some industries are gone, to the point where many people no longer know that certain tools exist, or existed, let alone that they were once made in their town.. Puts me in mind of .. I Used to Work for Harvester - Don Henley http://www.absolutelyrics.com/lyrics/view/don_henley/i_used_to_work_for_harvester
  9. "Sustain oil" ? btw..If you are on a phone ( your mention of "app" suggest that you probably are ) the consensus , amongst those who post from phones, is that the easiest way to reduce the data size of an image is to email it to yourself. re the mark I tend to think that even if you dyed the whole thing very dark, you'd still see it, and if it is oil ( what kind of oil ) the oily areas would probably not take up the dye as much as the rest, leaving you with a very dark bag, with a very visible stain.Camouflaging it might well work better if you cannot get it out.
  10. Without a photo of "this staining" you are unlikely to get many replies.. :) What is "sustain oil" ?
  11. DrmCa said Plus , the Shipping on a 30kg box from China ? That is over the weight allowed by China post ( tops out at around 25Kgs, for "parcel" ) or for eEMS..would have to be TNT, DHL, UPS..I don't have the best rates for shipping with any of them from China..But IME if the Chinese manufacturer paid ( they pay subsidised prices ) shipping would still be around $250.00 ( TNT, DHL, UPS ) for that box..Plus incoming customs duty to CA at around 10 % of declared value. I ordered two lots / items ( one is a laser 30kgs ) last week ..shipping on the laser ( manufacturer paying DHL ) is nearly $300.00 ..the other is items to be transformed / included in finished goods..weight 27kgs..shipping ( DHL again ) nearly $250.00, they are coming from two different suppliers. If I was paying shipping to DHL at my end, would cost me around 50% more on each.. Try looking at aliexpress anyway for the future..a lot of the resellers will sell under 10 pcs for a lower price than you could get them in your local craft shop..and with free shipping :) ..meanwhile, if you have a "centre accor" near you ? you can get D rings and O rings there for under 2 euros per pair. I should add..neither the laser, nor the stock items are coming from aliexpress or alibaba..both those sites are 99% resellers, pretending to be manufacturers..Gold badges there are bought not earned , I wouldn't spend more than $200.00 per purchase on either, the risks of getting nothing, or a brick in a box, is far too great, but for small purchases the risk can be worth accepting..There are other venues where one can deal with China where the sellers are actually controlled independently to be sure that they are truly manufacturers, and where the dishonest ones are policed, unlike Mr Ma's establishments.
  12. I bet the grin came back when you typed that ;) I agree with shoepatcher, take a day off, drive over to see Alexander on a weekday ( phone to say you are coming, to make sure he'll be in ;) ..he, his wife and his kids will thank you :) and you can drive back with your purchase..and you'll have met the seller, and the guy who will be supporting you.
  13. paloma is in France , at the other end of it from me.Shipping and Vat ( 20% added onto the value of the goods plus the shipping ) charged by the French offices of whichever shipper OTB uses.. from OTB ( USA ) to France ) would cost more than the things themselves. Paloma. If you only need a few..and you cannot get to Milan to browse around..look on aliexpress for O rings and D rings, I have seen that pattern there.Cost will be no more than a couple of Dollars / Euros for 10 or so..shipping will be free, might take a while ( China post )..or if eEMS will be quicker, about 5 to 10 days maximum..Customs and VAT china to France for a small amount will be treated under "de minimis"..Duty and VAT will not be added, the small parcel will just arrive at your door.
  14. Just a thought, but it might be better to use the internal diametre of the "shop hose" rather than the outside diametre , make it a "push on" rather than a "push in"..( like car hoses, always "push on" ) On a "push in "design the small "step" where the opening of the "shop hose" would be might cause some "build up", however small, I would imagine you'd want to be avoiding potential "build up" spots. Interesting thread..even for those of us who do not have skivers. :)
  15. "Dear" would be used between husband and wife."Dear" = "cherie" As we are both male.."Friend" For "friend", Australians ( and some others, including me ) use "mate" ( argot) = "pote" . :)
  16. Beautiful work, and dogs :)
  17. "fer shore" argôt..usually written "for sure" traduction / translation = certes HTH :) Nice belt, my hands ( already operated on for CTS 30 years ago ) hurt just looking at all that stitching.
  18. YinTX.. Go here.. https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php It is in English, freeware, no ads..open source..you may need to use the archives link if your mac is old.. Download handbrake..install it..use it to convert and or make your recordings smaller..for uploading to youtube..or just so that they take up less space on your hard drives..For youtube ..go to the "presets" ( on the right hand side of Handbrake when it is open ) click "web..then click "Vimeo Youtube 720p30". Then go to top left of the interface..choose"open source" navigate to your source file..When you have chosen, check that "Vimeo Youtube 720p30" is still the quality that it will convert to..Click "start"..it may ask you to choose name for the file and a destination..if it does, do so..and click start again.. It may take a long time to convert / shrink a video file..This "time" depends on how big the file is and how powerful your computer is..When the conversion is done..you will be able to upload to Vimeo or youtube with getting the "too much data" messages. Handbrake uses nearly 100% of your processor in order to work, so don't worry if the computer gets sluggish, and the fan gets noisy while it is working..If you need to use the computer before it has finished the conversion, you can click "pause" and it will do so and you'll get your other programs ( email etc ) working at near normal sped ( this is because it keeps itself in RAM until you close the it )..When you want it to start converting again on a paused file, just click "resume", and it will take up where it left off..with no "blips" etc. Newer computers will still run it at Nearly 100% CPU..but the sluggishness will not be so bad..the conversion times will also be shorter. HTH :) Handbrake works on Windows, Mac and linux..For "other OS" types, run it in a "virtual machine"..or "dual boot"..If you are running Linux or "other OS" types ( not Win, nor Mac ), you'll already know how to do this ;)..AFAIK , it is not yet available for android or iphones etc.
  19. YinTX What do you use to make / take your videos ?..and what kind of computer do you have windows or mac or linux..or ... ?
  20. Cute..progressing well, everyone should have a 29K something ( or it's equivalents ) ..see Constabulary's "sig".. :)
  21. WD 40 isn't a release oil*..it is a water dispersal agent , that is the WD part of the name..( in France they call it a degrippant ( release oil..literally "un gripper" )..it is not ), but myths promoted by marketing ( and what WD40 write on the cans ) and compounded by non chemists recommendations due to the advertising, keeps people thinking it is for freeing stuck mechanical parts. You should use either diesel** ( few drops on what ever should be moving, and isn't..then wait 24 hours try again, keep doing this until it moves) or use brake fluid ( which has far lower surface tension than even diesel, it will penetrate better , but will also strip paint finishes so be careful and it is a skin irritant and is bad for your eyes, so be care full, the red brake fluid works better than the green ) Transmission oil will also work, but brake fluid is better.. You can make your own penetrating oil by mixing 80% cooking oil ( sunflower seed oil works best ) with 20% acetone.. *Engineers, Chemists and Mechanics laugh when people tell them that WD40 is a release oil..but if you use it as water dispersant, it and it's "clones" are OK. **Diesel bath if the entire machine is stuck, like some that have been in barns for 25 years or more.. In controlled laboratory testing , plain cooking oil ( sunflower seed oil ) performs better at unblocking rusted nuts and bolts etc , than WD40.. Were I not in the middle of cooking dinner, I'd be able to find the articles about the many tests on this. But, marketing is more powerful than facts and real life..WD40 has some oil in it, so it works a bit, but nowhere near as well as diesel or brake fluid, cooking oil and acetone come just after diesel..In the USA there are some proprietary products that ( have weird names ; )) and work much better than WD40..some have been mentioned on here before, I can't remember them at the moment, I always use either Diesel or red brake fluid, as does my neighbour ( a French Engineer ) ..and all the good mechanics ( car, truck, machinery ) heavy plant..that I know..same when I lived in the UK and Ireland and elsewhere.
  22. Ah..that is a brilliant very possible idea fred :) ..like the holes in an anvil for the various "tools".
  23. Goat is very stretchy, goats can climb rocks, mountains..even some trees..Goats will try to climb almost anything including cars..don't park near goats.
  24. European design, may well be French, but the "tail" is usually longer on the French ones..That looks too short in the tail to be usual as normally the "tail" goes under one of your legs, the jaws are resting across the top of the other leg, or protruding well above..and you stitch with both hands..I'd expect the tail to be at least 50cms longer than on yours, maybe it has been cut ?..Why, no idea, but as it is it would be harder to keep stable. Search for European stitching clam or European stitching clamp and you'll see what I mean..even the very old ones..are longer in the tail, nowadays some are made with a folding tail, they used to be made with a tail that would could reach the floor , if the user was sat and held the tool upright between their thighs, but most used them "trapped under one thigh" and coming up over the other leg at an angle..means you are stitching upwards at an angle with one hand and downwards at an angle with the other.
