  1. Good info Uwe, I forgot about the orientation of the 206's (have not had one yet) and thought it was the other way around.
  2. Thanks all for the entertaining information. Now I know, and also know how to search for info relating to these in the future theoretically. The same person has a 280L for sale also which I kind of knew about from Wiz's various post and shared info.
  3. Thought this was just covered but cant remember what thread its in. Uwe has a couple of videos showing this issue and how to correct it if I remember correctly. EDIT thought it was for 206's but its for Juki under this thread
  4. Nice machines Wiz, I see you had to throw the cowboy in there so it wouldnt feel bad with all the good old steel around the shop. OP the machine will likely beat the heck out of any plastic thing you get now a days for fixing your cloths if that is something you do. Plus it looks much better then the new white boxes.
  5. Saw this machine on CL in my area today. https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bfs/5895427353.html Have not scene one before and was curious what they can handle and just general info. Dont have the money for this one but was curious about them. Input appreciated.
  6. Lalu what brand are these? Do you have any references like etsy or ebay where you sell stuff?
  7. Looking good. Suggestion, if your having issues with the brass rivets they may be hard from the manufacturing process or just the makeup of the brass. Try annealing a few of them and see if that helps at all. The brass will reharden as you work it but should give ya the ability to round the end of the rivet before it gets too hard.
  8. Made one using weldwood worked just fine. As stated wrap it in a direction so that the rotation of the tool wont want to unwrap it. Will last until the canvas wears out.
  9. Not knowing anything about the aerostitch that #56 looks like it has a o-ring groove on it which could be leaking by causing your sporadic air pressure issues. Generally an air operated "operator" doesnt vent area unless its out a designated vent path which I assume goes out some of the lines on the main valve mounting plate but not sure without seeing the whole diagram. Its also generally regulated to some degree which if there is a leak that regulation wont be properly regulated.
  10. What leather are they? With Roo after they are cut ya have to stretch em then ya can finish the lace however you want. The stretching also finds any weak links.
  11. I liked using the liquid wax from cambell bosworth with my 441. Just made the stitching seem smoother and less stressful for the machine. Unfortunately the supplied lube pot is total crap and rusted almost instantly so Ive either got to recoat it or make a new one before I can use the thread lube again. It doesnt make a big mess either if you put a foam stopper where the thread exits the lube pot. Atleast I didnt have any issues doing it that way.
  12. Incase there is misunderstanding I used the JLS pattern to make this.

  14. There are deals in the Seattle area ya just have to be very very patient. That being said there are also people that scour CL for antiques/anvils/sewing machines who resell them either right on CL or ebay for far higher prices. Try finding an anvil now a days at a fare price. There are a few "collectors" in our area that I think are retired and they will hop in and grab stuff quicker then you can search for it lol. Every once in a while people will be just trying to unload stuff or wont base there prices off of ebay listings. Cant stand when they say its $50 cheaper then on ebay when that same machine has been sitting on ebay for a couple of years. There is a Nakajima 280L for $900 which is suppose to be a nice machine but its a flat bed. Looks real nice. There are Pfaff 145s on there occasionally at the $700 range. Scene a couple Juki 562s as well. Gotta take a gample on some stuff that doesnt look outstanding because some of them clean up real well. Oh and be ready to drive, Im in Bremerton right now and have gone to Seattle and Renton before to get my 111W155 and a Consew 227, the 227 isnt working yet, the table was shot, and it came with a newer clutch motor but it was actually free just cost of fuel.
  15. Well the market for most everything leather is pretty flooded IMHO. That being said there are alot of people out there to buy the stuff so ..... May wanna keep your old tools since they are probably better quality then whats available now a days unless your throwing down some cash sort to speak. Echo what JLS said about contacting Bob (Toledo sewing) or Steve (cobra sewing machines) or Art and Wizcraft from this forum. All of those guys know alot and usually respond to inquiries in a short period of time. I think I have asked all of them more then a few questions since I started.
  16. Depends on exactly what you want to do. If you dont mind being limited by 207 thread and can work with a flat bed then the new 206RB5 are suppose to be pretty nice and come with everything for about $1400 I think it is, or the 3200 as above. There are also the 4500s that pop up used but are usually had for about $2000. Any of these sure as heck beat hand stitching each belt which takes 2-3 hrs depending on how fast ya are.
  17. LOL you sure about that? Items are now SOLD.

  19. Sent ya a PM. Hopefully its straightforward how to answer back.
  20. For your finish you can use any number of things depending on how you want it to hold up, the color of the natural leather your looking for. You can do a sno-seal or home made type of wax/oil finish. This will wear naturally and darken with time. You can oil it then seal it with something like resolene or any number of top coats like that. Should keep the color for a little longer before it starts darkening and getting the aged look. You could even just slap a thin coat of olive oil on it and call it good too.
  21. Ill throw in a Al Stohlman round knife in good shape. (no picture right now). Same price 128 shipped to US.
  22. If ya do it right you shouldnt leave any marks. Question though, are you tooling these or painting them certain colors? Using a bridle leather from the same manufacturers may be an idea as well. Its pretty much there vegtan thats been slicked/dyed/finished already. Add a nice wax coat to it and it would look really good.
  23. It looks like a 153W something probably 153W103 but its hard to tell. NOT a holster machine, great for other stuff though. $900 is pretty steep on the price. Your in the territory of new machines at that price.
