  1. Well couldnt handle being without a camera so got a used canon A1000IS from BandH photo. $90 shipped. Pretty good camera for a little point and shoot. Took a couple of quick close up shots to see how they would turn out. Seemed pretty good. Used my lightbox and the supplied editing tools that came with the camera which wasnt much. Heres a few photos with the jpeg straight from the camera followed by the edited version. http://s260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/QU...0first%20shots/
  2. I agree, good looking. Seems youve been busy lol. I really like that style of purse, pretty cool. That stagecoach work turned out great I think, I like that natural color with the antiqueing.
  3. Great looking seat man. Looking forward to the other pics as well.
  4. Ive tried both and really think that WC and HO are the two best leathers I have used so far. Yes the HO seems to let the knife work its wonder very easily. It has a harder fermer temper that tends to want to hold its shape more hence easier cutting (IMO). The WC I got was a looser grain on top which I dont know how to explain it but it seemed fluffier. I used a slicker on the leather before carving and I use one of those ceramic blades and did not have any issue cutting it. The one thing I noticed about WC was that you could get a little rounder edges so your carving (IMO) seemed like they were easier to get a more 3D effect, they kind of popped out a bit (hard to explain).
  5. springfeild has roo lace in grey. I think roo is about the strongest you can get. Not sure if that will help or not.
  6. Could be something put on the leather to make it look better then what it is. Did you try using a alcohol cleaning or a deglazer before you oiled it. I usually do that when Im done carving before dyeing and waxing.
  7. OUtstanding looking job. Looks really good. Couple of questions, EVOO whats that and what did you use as your neatlac replacement. Your finish looks really good. Very clean and smooth. As far as the edges I think the only thing you can do is maybe dye them but other then that no clue. I know with suede I can get a slight burnish with some bees wax and my tool. But thats usually when I layer it with vegtan so it keeps it rigid while doing the edge.
  8. Thats cool, dont see much upholstery work on here. Oh and a thing about photobucket, if you put your photos in a album you only have to post one link. Saves some time.
  9. Excellent looking seat. Get some more stuff posted lol.
  10. Great job on the seats, nice forming and lacing.
  11. Looks great, I only have one suggestion, I would personally cut a hole in the bottom so that you can push it out with your finger when you go to grab it. Just a personal preference and probably not necessary but I like to be able to do that. But real nice job on it.
  12. Very nice work. Oh and feed back, I think overall appearance the humming bird is the best composed IMO. I think it looks really good as something to hang on the wall. The salmon also looks good. You got any pics maybe a little closeup action of a few of them.
  13. Nicely done, I think it looks really cool.
  14. Good job man, braiding looks real clean and tight. I like the tread marks on the bottom too, nice touch.
  15. That looks way cool. Great job.
  16. Nicely done, talk about building the bike around the seat lol. What ya use for the shiny stuff, vynal of some type.
  17. Very cool all of them, I think those spur straps are gonna come out nicely when done.
  18. You should enjoy it. Some of the higher end tandy stuff is pretty nice if you can find it in the stores but the price is pretty high for the royal meadow stuff. I just wasnt a big fan of tooling the tandy line. The feel of the HO is far different so make sure you practice on a few smaller pieces first to get the feel of it. I can see why the holster guys like to use it.
  19. Looks pretty good. I like the carving, the branches that is a nice touch and a good idea with the swivel cuts. Im sure they will like it alot.
  20. THat looks great dude. Looks like you got all your kinks worked out.
  21. Well got a side from Kevin at springfeild and must say this is some fun stuff to tool. Just took a piece off of it for now and was playing around. This leather is pretty different from the wicket and craig I tried (which was also very nice). Herman oak seems to be a really ferm temper which at first kind of made me wonder but just from doing a quick case and started carving and the knife glides thru it smoothly and easily. Stamps with a ease and bevels very nicely. Definatly a must try to anyone thinking of ordering some that havnt tried herman oak yet. Just had to post my comments as now Im really looking forward to getting some projects underway with this stuff.
  22. LOL thats oustanding. Good catch.
  23. Haha pretty cool. You did a good job on them.
  24. Not sure if this will help but for doing the rivets I would take and make two V notched stands say out of 2x6's or something similer. Then take a longer round post that will be about 4" longer on each side then the case your building so you can slip the cue case over the post then set it in the V notched stands so that they support it at both ends. If you wanna get really intricate get the post leveled off on one side to give you about a 2" flat on one side the entire length then attach a flat piece of aluminum or steel, you can get the 1" wide pieces at lowes or home depot for a decent price. Or even try metal shops may be cheaper. Attach this metal strip to the flat portion that you have made. Now you could put your rivets in, slide it into your jig and hammer away. Just a thought. May not work as I have thought lol.
  25. Forgot about Iwata thats another good brand as well. The one Marin has I have used alot before and its a very well rounded durable little guy that is pretty much a base for all kinds of airbrushing crafts. One thing to remember also the cheapo models have very poor orings that wont last shooting dye thru them.
