  1. That looks really interesting, you got any better photos by chance, would love to see a close up.
  2. At first yes the leather will not be ready to form, you gotta let it dry for a while. Dont let it completely dry out but set it in front of a fan for a little while. Then wet form it and you should be good to go. I just use the feibings I think it is, something like a nuetral shoe polish works good also.
  3. I would try assempling, then dunk in vine for a few minutes, rinse, then give it a quick bakind soda bath. After that allow it to dry enough to form well and do your wet forming and allow to dry completely after this. Then do your oil/conditioning. The only thing Ive used on vinegaroon is leather balm with attom wax and it stays nice and black. As stated though the process brings tallows or waxes to the surface of the leather which makes it about as sealed as its gonna get IMO.

  6. I agree with everyone here in a way. I think on some items a well placed mark that fits the tooling is fine HOWEVER I prefer not to see the mark on the outside of something. Atleast anything I would buy. I think that anyone who sees a piece of leatherwork and likes it will instinctively look for a tag "aka makers mark" on the item and usually will look inside or on the back. It all depends on the item though so go with what you think will look the best.
  7. I had no idea what to expect before I got his video a while back and when I first started watching it I was like "oh man thats it" but then I kept watching it and it just got better and better. I must agree his video is a must have, my only wish is that he had time to make more of them. Such a shame really. Plus seeing the guys technique really opened up alot of more ideas.
  8. Those are actually some pretty cool bags, great job on the repairs. Too bad he didnt get to see them.
  9. That looks really good IMO. I like the deep contrast you have going on with the floral pattern. I see that you dyed the background, was wondering on the floral though did you dye some of it or did you use antique?
  10. Great job, looks like that border took a few minutes lol.
  11. You got any larger pics, cant see much from what you have posted so far.
  12. That is way cool, I have a soft spot for black and red together, allways a good combo.
  13. That is really cool looking, did you glue the feathers in?
  14. Wow that is super clean and great looking. I cant find anything wrong with it. Im sure your customer was very happy.
  15. Hahaha sounds like an adventure worthy of a great song (the one and onlyBasilis Poledouris) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkMhRvEmG6s...feature=related I hate skunk smell. When I was in CT they were everywhere, you had to dodge them going to work lol.
  16. Wonder why they dont make one like a soldering iron, plug it in and it would go to a predetermined temperature and you would be good to go. Im sure the electricians around here if there are any could come up with a simple solution.
  17. Are you using there pro oil dyes or the regular dyes? Also the eco flow stuff isnt much against water so you may end up having to switch to something that is a little more resiliant in advers conditions. Have you tried playing with topcoat, tancoat, or similer. I like tancoat followed by a good sno seal. Would like to add that there are alot of people with more experience with this so check to see what they do with there holsters and other items that are used in bad weather and conditions.
  18. Haha you still scared? Looks great man nicely done.
  19. Take a look at the cornfused thread at the top of this section. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=16609
