That's pretty much what I would do. I'd start two lines below the blank or above it - whatever. Then I would go up/down on one side, finish it and and come back down/up on the other side.

Depends on the object and the material being used itself. Here are some choices: Sometimes I'm using a razor blade and cut carefully between the layers. Sorry I didn't link the pictures to a page. They are all in German.

Thanks 25b. I was already thinking of splicing one strand, but you're right and that's the easiest way to do it.

Looks pretty nice. You may have to make a few of those now.

That is a darn good question which I would like to have answered as well. Since some people say that beveling is a matter of taste it may be difficult to answer though. When I started I was told that the thickness of the leather should be twice the thickness of the edgers radius. Well that might be true, but it never really made any sense to me. Here's a related question from a few years back and what some people had to say about it http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=36282

That's what he says... Haven't physically been there and looked over his shoulder. If you can read German than this is one of his ads on ebay http://www.ebay.de/itm/Stanzarbeiten-Lederzuschnitte-Leder-Schablonen-Bandstahleisen-Stanzeisen-/151942004828?hash=item236073005c:m:mxHn6fqAWATU0uiSGp4ZAPw

Thank you indidana. I'm using veg tanned leather. Thus far I used cow, goat and deer skin with success. If you were to roll the edges you could use chrome tanned leather just as well. In cheap wallets they are using very thin cardboard to give it stability. The leather I'm using is anywhere between 1 to 1.5 mm thick and not too soft. I guess I should mention that I'm putting the coin pouch on the other side cause it makes it easier to get the coins out. You need some play or you have to "fold" the wallet to get at them comfortably. I will be trying a flap on the next one for myself just to see if that's any easier. Also going to try a single gusset with the zippered pouch. Joel, I'm not providing figures to that gap in between cause if the provided template is laid out to the overall dimensions as provided the gap is 1" automatically. Someone was actually thinking something by crafting the template.

You're right. That manufacturer makes it for quite a few. The cheapest source in the US is Jeffers pet http://www.jefferspet.com/products/leather-punchI'm having the Osborne branded one and that one. No difference at all. Unfortunately they only ship within the US and to Canada.

Karina, I helped him out by PM. Btw. you can get oval punches for all standard revolving punches including the CS Osborne one, which to me is the best revolving punch on the market.

There used to be a link posted by Colt last night. Now sorry, but this gives it a bad taste.

Having gone through the immigration process myself sometime back I would like provide you this link http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPWORKERS.html. This position or profession doesn't qualify for federal nor provincial immigration. It would be easier to hire a Mexican or American for the peak month rather than hiring a foreign worker. Best of luck filling the position.

Joel, read these: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=20414&hl=wallet http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=55273&hl=wallet http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=58551&hl=wallet If non of those are helping you any then I'm having at least two or three in my pattern board on Pinterest here https://www.pinterest.com/riding1493/cutting-patterns/ This is my favorite pattern though: Scale to whatever you feel happy with. My dimensions are 19 to 19.7 cm for the overall length. This is what it can look like. Just play around with it. http://oldmillleathercrafts.thewesternsource.com/biker-wallets/

I wonder how many more are going to PM him and then post that they've sent a PM. His toolbar must be all red... Oh forgot to mention, I was the first to send a PM but thought he'd be smart enough to notice the red flag and the pop-up message.

Thank you Jim. I carved it first and then stitched it. But to be practical, it doesn't matter so much on this bag as the tooling is on the flap only and you could still tool it. The only problem would be that the leather wouldn't lay flat. You can follow the instructions for the diplomat pouch in Stohlman's book on how to make cases. It's pretty much the same bag I just added the tooling.
