  1. Johanna and Kate Thanks a bunch! I thought the sever at work had blocked me out, but after getting home knew it was something else. I did learn to write down my password. Thanks again for the hard work. Johnny
  2. Froghunter, Been waiting to see it finished since you posted the first carving. It really turned out GREAT! Johnny
  3. Freak, AWESOME work! The varying depths of the leaves and cross really make it stand out. Johnny
  4. Thanks Tom. The hummingbird and rose were the wife's request, and it let me practrice some more on the finesse carving. Still a ways to go. The end results look a fair better than my first attempt, or the "Mess." Johnny
  5. Here is the end results of my Sheridan style clutch purse, modified a little This is my first attempt at Sheridan style, but I just had to add some other stlye flowers. The pattern and carving went well, but the initial finish went bad. Glad it sort of cleaned up so I didn't have to start over. I used the triple loop stitch on the lacing. Thanks to Yaklady for insight on acrylic painting. Johnny
  6. AWESOME WORK! The pyrocarving gives the carving a tremendous amount of detail. Johnny
  7. Josh, It looks good! Your Dad will enjoy it. With each post you make it shows that you are improving. With each item made you gain more experiance and it is showing. Johnny Endeavor to perceiver.

WOW! The color and detail are Great. Johnny
  9. Marion, Very nice work. Outstanding job on the lacing. Did the lacing take as long as the tooling? Johnny
  10. Tom, Another fine piece of work! The color is great. Did you base your wesite colors on this purse or vice versa? Outstanding purse. Johnny
  11. Karl, For the first attempt that is very good. Found this feather in the back yard this evening (thanks to the Blue Jay that stays back there) and thought you may want a "real" example. Not the most colorful, but a good example. Johnny

Roo, Awesome mask. The detail in the different leaf patterns really look sharp and keep the eyes moving frorm leaf to leaf. Are there plans for the other seasons??? Johnny
  13. STR, Very nice work, the colored background makes the carving really stand out. Johnny
  14. Beez, The 3 demonsional look is wild. AWESOME Carving! Johnny
  15. Spider, Very nice work! (for something outside your usual) The flower on the right really stands out! Keep at it and it will become second nature to you just as your skulls are. (Which one day I will attempt.) Johnny

    New Fish

Storm, This certainly adds to the detailing. Is there color/stain added or is it just from the burner? Nice work. Johnny
  17. Greg, Thanks for the comments. Will have to apply that to my next one. As for the design, I did not draw it. My drawing skills are not good at all. The designs are a combination of different motifs from "Florid Victorian Ornament" book, Dover Publications. The letter "C" is my version of the Leaf Script, which is usally used in the engraveing field, but it fit the motif for that side of the cover. Thanks, Johnny
  18. Ken / Dagr, It will probally be around long after checks are a thing of the past. I guess on some things I do not want come to terms with the debit card technology. Kate, Thanks, I now have to make one from my Wife. Busted, Thought about relacing again (this would be the 4th time) but decided to try something new. I hate to retire it, but when the lacing holes are not there anymore, its time for a new one. This forum has opened up a whole new world of thoughts as to what someone can do with leather. Thanks Johnny
  19. Being in need of a new cover for myself and wanting to try some "finess carving" I endeavored on something outside of the western floral that I am most accustomed to. I am happy with the results, and the Wife likes it also. Thanks for looking Johnny my old checkbook from the late seventies
  20. Spider, Another really cool wallet. Like the web in the corner and know the pain on the stitching along the edge. Johnny
  21. 320', then I ran out of quarters! If I only had buttons on the sides of my keyboard. Thnks for the link jc
  22. Very nice brief case. The chrome hardware really accent the color of the case. jc
  23. Jordon, Very nice work! Like the way the leaves are overlapped on the checkbook cover. What tool did you use on the border on the inside of the bible cover? Johnny
  24. Kathy, Thanks for your insight on the acrylics, this is the first time I have tried to use them and can use all the insight I can get. The project is my take on a sheridan style clutch purse with a bird in the center. Was looking only to paint the bird and the remaining is to be finished in the sheridan style finish. I have painted a test piece that was not oiled and the results seem to be good, I am thinking of doing a test piece with oil to compare the results. Johnny
