  4. Here is my version of this months challenge. The bird does not really meet the "scroll cut" but I wanted to give it a try. Still need to add some shading to the leaf side but have to give my eyes a rest before I attempt that. Maybe I something bigger than a check book cover. Johnny
  5. WOW! What a combination and the color is great also. Johnny
  6. Crystal, WOW! That is a great example of delicate knifework and using cuts to create shading and detail. Is the 1/4" blade now your blade of choice? What is the name of the book? Johnny
  7. Tom, Nice cigar case and neat press. Is the top of the cover glued or sewn? Johnny
  8. Biil, Nice work! Like the way the pattern is on both the flap and the underside of the flap. Johnny
  9. Roger, Some thoughts on the sand would be to use sand paper as an impression. The texture would depend on grit. A torn irregular edge could be overlapped to acheive different effects. The pointed end of the modeling spoon can be used to leave the rippled effect when used to push the sand paper into the leather. This pic might help http://www.wildnatureimages.com/pictures_of_sand_dunes.htm for the rippled effect. Hope this helps Johnny
  10. Johanna and Kate Thanks a bunch! I thought the sever at work had blocked me out, but after getting home knew it was something else. I did learn to write down my password. Thanks again for the hard work. Johnny
  11. Froghunter, Been waiting to see it finished since you posted the first carving. It really turned out GREAT! Johnny
  12. Freak, AWESOME work! The varying depths of the leaves and cross really make it stand out. Johnny
  13. Thanks Tom. The hummingbird and rose were the wife's request, and it let me practrice some more on the finesse carving. Still a ways to go. The end results look a fair better than my first attempt, or the "Mess." Johnny
  14. Here is the end results of my Sheridan style clutch purse, modified a little This is my first attempt at Sheridan style, but I just had to add some other stlye flowers. The pattern and carving went well, but the initial finish went bad. Glad it sort of cleaned up so I didn't have to start over. I used the triple loop stitch on the lacing. Thanks to Yaklady for insight on acrylic painting. Johnny
  15. AWESOME WORK! The pyrocarving gives the carving a tremendous amount of detail. Johnny
  16. Josh, It looks good! Your Dad will enjoy it. With each post you make it shows that you are improving. With each item made you gain more experiance and it is showing. Johnny Endeavor to perceiver.

  18. Marion, Very nice work. Outstanding job on the lacing. Did the lacing take as long as the tooling? Johnny
  19. Tom, Another fine piece of work! The color is great. Did you base your wesite colors on this purse or vice versa? Outstanding purse. Johnny
  20. Karl, For the first attempt that is very good. Found this feather in the back yard this evening (thanks to the Blue Jay that stays back there) and thought you may want a "real" example. Not the most colorful, but a good example. Johnny
  21. Roo, Awesome mask. The detail in the different leaf patterns really look sharp and keep the eyes moving frorm leaf to leaf. Are there plans for the other seasons??? Johnny
