  1. Those side covers are catching on huh? I want to make a set for mine now! I really like the natural colors with red toned bikes! That looks great now but in a year, it'll look incredible! The lacing looks nice but kinda hard to see detail. I know what your talking about but some may not. I think you did an outstanding job and you made one customer VERY happy! Bravo!
  2. Personally, I'm not into fly fishing, but I am into leather and that is one beautiful case!
  3. Looking over your project, I think you've done a great job! Stitching is nice and straight. Could use a LITTLE more work burnishing the edges but better than average. The only thing I could suggest would be to leave yourself a border. That texture looks great with a nice smooth border!
  4. I'd love to help out but I'm not setup for holsters quite yet. But I do want to get into them more! Sorry....
  5. I think just a simple "XXXXXXXXX" would look great! In 3/16" Natural colored lace. It'll go well with the antique look (which I think kicks total )!!!
  6. Looks pretty darned good! Lacing looks really nice!
  7. That's sweeeeet! Love the colors. Now that it's done, what's for dinner?
  8. Move to the head of the class! That's a FINE lookin' holster. Call me later! I've got something you may be interested in....
  9. Lookin' good! I like the Hell Bent colors!!
  10. I went to a local marble/granite countertop company and bought a "LARGE SINK CUTOUT". It's 17" x 20" x 1 1/4" thick and works fine! It's small enough to be portable if necessary but large enough for bigger projects. The BEST part is that it only cost $10!!!
  11. Happy Friday 13th !!

    Design Lifter

Most of the time I airbrush Tandy Satin Sheen on the project to seal it, then add a Fiebing's antique gel making sure to push the gel into the lifted areas to fill the voids, let it dry for a bit, then buff it to remove any excess gel. On natural colored leather, I merely pay close attention to the area when I airbrush my Satin Sheen on and spray an extra heavy coat into the . When you seal your project, the ... "raw "flesh" part of the hide you expose with the lifting is sealed also ... If your tool is making impressions where you don't want them, perhaps try rounding the head of the tool and kicking the TOE up a bit. That way, you can cut the leather at the lift, roll the toe up and leave less visible dents to smooth. And YES, if I want depth, I have to make it. Since leather is a 2 dimensional canvas, you create depth by beveling, stamping and otherwise making impressions into the leather. By lifting, you create a 3rd layer of depth allowing far more realism. Hope this helps....

    Design Lifter

I like to use lifters when I'm doing other things too, like skull designs. It really does add LOTS of depth to a design. Here's a couple of designs I have used lifters on. You decide if they do what you'd like...
  14. You do good work Cowboy! Lacing is very nice! And you really have started to hone your toolin' skills! Keep this up and you'll be a force to be reckoned with soon!!
  15. Nice lookin! I really like the two tone colors... I'm feeling kinda inspired!
  16. I've had pretty good luck with Weaver up until recently. The leather they are sending seems like bottom stock. The lady asks, "Is there a special note you'd like me to leave for the warehouse?" I ask for small/no holes and they show up with a 10" hole directly in the center of the hide. Scars everywhere, brands... The note is on the invoice, but it looks like it was ignored! What the ?? Why even bother adding the note? Customer Service is DEAD! So I decided to try other sources... a friend gave me the number to Wicket & Craig Tannery.... ordered 5/6 veg-tan.... WOW!! Spectacular difference! 10 times the quality and cheaper than Weaver! Sorry Weaver, you LOSE! Hard economic times are NOT the time to start getting greedy!
  17. Stunning David! I really like the color....
  18. I just sent you a PM...
  19. Very nice! It's a very functional, practical project! I've just been inspired! How about some pics with the set ON the bike??
