  1. A while back I did a motorcycle seat for Toppers Tree Service. Well, my wife's son saw it and thought it was the 'Bees Knees' so I made him a Belt & Buckle for his birthday. Tell me what ya think??
  2. Some people are just born with it... I think you're one of those people! That is going to be a spectacular Pool Cue Case!!!
  3. Thanks! If you're having problems with wavy lines, try taking smaller steps with the tool. Also, try using a sharper beveler to stamp the deep separation, then use a more shallow one to smooth the first run tamps...
  4. If you're talking about those nice straight thin lines that separate all of the design features, that's done with a double edged swivel knife blade. They can be found here. The cuts look to be done freehand, however, it's a VERY TALENTED HAND that's cutting it. The rest of that beauty comes with hours and hours of practice! Also, the type of leather you use plays a MAJOR role in the results of your tooling. Herman Oak leather will give you MUCH better results than a piece of Tandy's 'Craftsman Oak' tooling sides will. Don't get me wrong, the Tandy leather works great on some projects, but not on others...
  5. I'd like to take credit for the Evil Klown, but that wasn't my project... That was Dave Theobald's masterpiece! (Evil Clown Seat Link) My latest feat was the 'East Coast Toppers' (Toppers Tree Service) seat... (East Coast Toppers Seat) And honestly, I'd rather have 3 or 4 projects prepared and ready to lace at once. I shut the world out and just start lacing. I get into a rhythm and after an hour or so, the cramps go away and my hands learn where they have to be... then the momentum takes over and before ya know it, you're trimming the final lace...
  6. Hey Jim, I use all of the tools you described to make my borders. I've found that if the project piece is cut out to it's final size, it's much easier to make your borders smooth and symmetrical. It sounds like you have the right ideas and even the right tools to do what you want to do, just maybe not the knowledge. By posting pictures, you sure will help everyone understand exactly what you mean. Troy
  7. You're doing fine! You might try taking a rubber mallet and lightly 'TAMP' your lace into place. It helps even it out, gets rid of any twisted spots. Very nice job on the wallets!! It may seem like forever that it took you to finish your lacing but you'll get faster with time. I was like you when I first started, but now I can lace an entire chopper/bobber seat with a Mexican Basketweave in a day. It's about 35 ft of lace and 200+ holes per seat. Troy
  8. Holly, This came straight from Wikipedia... Pay especially close attention to the two sentences in RED! "Copyright is the set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. Copyright lasts for a certain time period after which the work is said to enter the public domain. Copyright applies to a wide range of works that are substantive and fixed in a medium. Some jurisdictions also recognize "moral rights" of the creator of a work, such as the right to be credited for the work. Copyright is described under the umbrella term intellectual property along with patents and trademarks. There are different approaches to the issue of what is a "copy" of a copyright-protected work. For example, several important rights under United States copyright law exist only for "copies" of works—material objects in which the work is embodied. A three-dimensional counterpart of a two-dimensional drawing is usually not a "copy" of the drawing, under United States copyright law. Thus, the copyright in a drawing of the approach to the Triboro Bridge is not infringed when the bridge approach is built. If you really want to smack her off her soap box, you can throw this in her selfish face!! Hope it helps!! Troy
  9. Personally, it looks like Feibing's Light Tan or Beige Alcohol dye then, the maker burnished the edge with bees wax. The edge doesn't look like it was intentionally stained a different color. Troy
