  1. Super cool @Sanch. I only wish my son was capable of following instruction at that age; we still have a hell of a time over 18....
  2. So much good advice from everyone. Thank you all! I'll get it figured out, I just need to limit my projects to a few so I can start developing the muscle memory.
  3. I'm wanting to hone everything....which is part of the problem. I can make completely usable stuff, I just need to make it pretty.
  4. Thanks for noticing. I'm trying to do just about any project I can so that I can improve. I think I'm going to make a box next using the miter joint like Nigel Armitage shows on his youtube video, should be plenty of stitching in that without a lot of long runs.
  5. Grrr! I saw that on the pattern but didn't even realize I didn't do it. I'll certainly do it on the next one. Thanks again for making these patterns available, they are super simple confidence builders.
  6. I dyed the inside turquoise and some of it bled through a bit but I think it is still socially acceptable. Next time I'll err on the side of caution and opt for one of the lighter colors I used to do the block dying with, maybe yellow or saddle tan just in case! I think next time I'll try and line one with some cool fabric. This was also the first time I have had a chance to use the stitching pony I made and also the first time I've used a pony. Man, what a difference. My holes are noticeably better aligned from front to back. I did notice that I have a bit of a misalignment on the jaws of the clamp but I think after some use I can get used to it....until I make a new pony, muahahahaha. Also I finished the wallet with a newly made batch of 50/50 (by weight) mix of pure neatsfoot oil and beeswax.
  7. Huge shout out to @JLSleather for the simple yet quite awesome patterns he has made open to all of us. Y'all have a look! I am pretty happy with most of it. Pattern can be found at the link below: http://www.jlsleather.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/card_hor01.pdf
  8. Nice mask for an awesome old axe. Good work and restoration. I'm sure your friend will be pleased.
  9. Looks better than the bag I made myself! I was throwing out an old couch and harvested the leather from it to use for projects. Yours looks amazing, mine looks like it was made out of an old couch. Congrats on the sale! :-)
  10. Give it a shot and see. I think it'll either be too hot and it'll ruin the leather or it'll be fine. DO NOT microwave your leather to heat it! I tried it. It burns within a very short time.
  11. Yet another craftsperson on here to hope to get as good as. Beautiful and interesting work @Bolt Vanderhuge!
  12. Man, your work is super close to perfect! That "Evils" motif is really cool too. I really like the skull, is it custom to you? Superb. And I'm only saying super close because your skill exceeds my ability to find anything wrong. It could be completely perfect. It's sick in any case.
  13. I dunno man, if that only took you an hour the first attempt, I'd be tempted to try it again implementing lessons learned. It looks close enough to try again. Taking into account @OLDNSLOW's words, I'd do it.
  14. Duuuuude....I need to start casing instead of just wetting with a sponge. Your stamping is amazing. The color is super crisp and the waxy finish is quite attractive as well. Super well done.
  15. Looks good on the pretty side....I am climbing the same hill as you in that respect with my work too. I can nail the visible side but the blind side hasn't turned out perfect once.....good thing it isn't visible or else it'd really bug me. How do you like the way the gun rides now? I have several knives and on my bigger blades, I prefer it to ride in a dangler.
  16. I think some of the "errors" you made make it look more authentic. Back in the renaissance I don't think there would be a lot of perfect and beautiful pieces unless you were wealthy. I think it looks pretty damned good.
  17. Super clever. I may try it and then comment on how easy it is ;-) Clean work too.
  18. I found a video Nigel Armitage put together that shows how to prevent my issue. He makes it look simple and isn't stitching on a curve but the principle is the same. Link to the vid:
