  1. This pic should help,it's screw marked AC.Click on the pic & it'll open up larger. Bob Kovar
  2. Wiz, I have some needles in sizes#2,3 & 4 @ a good price. Let me know if you need any. Thanks, Bob Kovar
  3. We sell a D.C. Servo motor w/a builtin reducer that is alot easier to put on then a separate reducer & servo motor & lower price too!(it fastens in the same holes as a clutchmotor) .A few people on the board have bought them & can't believe how slow they are,one stitch @ a time if you want. Bob Kovar
  4. Donnie, The price isn't to bad & they are a handy machine to have around but they are not good for sewing what you want as they won't take heavy enough thread & sew as thick as what you need + they have a top feed which means the foot has teeth on the bottomside that pulls the leather & it'll leave some nasty teeth marks on the top of what your sewing. Hope this helps. Bob Kovar
  5. There's 2 screws on the bobbincase & it's the one on the left that adjusts the tension. Bob
  6. Leighton's is correct about the small bobbins on the 29's most of them will only sew to around 8mm use 138 thread max & alot of tack uses 207. We sell the same machine as a Mach1 they will use up to 346 thread the bobbin is probably 10x larger too & will sew to 10 mm or more. They have a feed dog that can mark the bottom but it'll probably look better than the marks a 29 would leave on top. We also have a roller foot available that helps the feeding on this machine. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Bob Kovar
  7. Singer never made a big single thread chainstitch like this machine,I'd say look to Puritan for more info. Bob
  8. Hello, We used to rebuild them yrs ago to sew to over 3/4" & also would put reverse in them too. You should be able to sew an easy 1/2"+ with it,We still have alot of parts so let me know what you need. Thanks, Bob Kovar Toledo Ind Sewing Machine Sales 1-866-362-7397
  9. I don't know what brand machine that is but can tell you it's a single needle chainstitch used in collar making, luggage making. It's alot like a Puritan. I probably have needles & awls for it.
  10. If it has the long beak type of shuttle they aren't being made anymore, but I think I know where I can get some used ones if needed. Some machine might have a round bobbin. Bob
  11. The thread needs to be between the 2-discs that why it gets tight, how tight it is supposed to be is best checked by test sewing,a few weeks down the road you'll be better able to test tension by pulling. And the tope tension does need to be tighter than the bobbin. HTH Bob
  12. I'll have to agree w?Art,It's a high speed machine that can be slowed down for more$$ & then I doubt if it would handle making holsters. We do have some customers using them for chaps & we do stock the 135x8 needles w/a leather point. The 281's will use #46,69 & 92 nylon thread. Bob
  13. This Singer 29-4 has been completely disasembled, cleaned, repainted & put back together with any new parts that were needed & it sews like NEW. It will come with 1-thread wire, 2-packs of needles,5-bobbins & operators manual. The price w/stand as pictured is $650.00 picked up in Toledo,Oh. We will crate for shipping f/$25.00,and you'll have to pay the shipping charges. We do have discounts with alot of trucking companies. Bob Kovar Toledo Industrial Sewing Machine Sales 1-866-362-7397
  14. Dave, Yes,this machine has a spring loaded foot, the outside swings back with the feed dog. This machine will use up tp 346 nylon w/a #26 needle,277 w/a#25 or 207 w/a #23 we always changed them to a 135x16 just alittle shorter needle that is very easy to get. Bob
  15. I'll bet your right when he got the Adler he found it it would sew alittle heavier & smoother too. Just thought I'd mention we stock thread, needles & anything else you might need fot it. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Bob
  16. I've sold a few of these models over the years & yes they will sew to maybe 5/8" or so thickness, they have a needlefeed, there's not much available for feet other than buy a standard foot & modify it buy cutting off one side or the other. It will take #277 thread easy & use the Schmetz 794S leather point needles that we stock. Bob
  17. I should mention that I can't find shuttles for the 17class machines, they are alittle smaller diameter than standard. Art, I think your right about the 17-41 having rev I thought I had one here & was going to check the # but can't find it.I do have a 11-36 that feeds up & down the arm, reverse parts on it look just like the 17's do Bob
  18. Well since you can't get gears for the 29k51 I'd say keep the Adler, parts are much easier to get & some Singers parts will fit saving some $$ since Adlers parts are very expensive. Bob
  19. Art, I think your getting the little 17 class mixed up w/a 11 class,the 17's will sew maybe 1/4" w/69or 92 thread. Bob
  20. Bob, I consider myself lucky to sell one HD Flatbed like this a year.So I'm not real interested in it,maybe you can try ebay. Sounds like that Union is missed, they are pretty good machines as long as you know how to adjust them.
  21. I can't find anything online describing that model. Can anybody here fill me in on the most important details about them? I need to know the capabilities for thread and needle sizes, needle system, bobbin style, thickness of leather it will sew, known issues, etc. Also, what a typical price would be for this machine (see photo). Hey Bob, It'll sew to 3/4"thick using up to#346 thread,it's the same machine sa a 205-370 just that it's a flatbed alittle less versatile, since if you have a cyl arm you can make it a flatbed,it takes the standard large sguttle bobbins,794S needles system. It looks to be in real good condition & sell for more $$ new than the cyl arm model since they don't make many of them.New I think they are around $6,000.00 ,I guess if you can live w/o a cyl arm it's probably worth $2,000.00 We have a brand new Cowboy flatbed 441 that'll sew the same thickness f/$2,895.00 They are a very well built machine & not many problems. HTH, Bob Kovar
  22. This is a series 29 machine if it has an arm,There should be a brass tag on the front w/a model # on it & then some # stamped in the bed that are the serial#. The ones to stay away from are 29K51,53,56. We pretty much have all the parts is stock for the rest. The thing to look for is play in the foot (front to back) & play in the gears that drive the shuttle back & forth,so you take out the shuttle & push what's called the driver clockwise & counterclockwise & see how much play it has this will indicate the condition of the gears. Do these people know how to sew on it? If so try it out, The price is pretty good & I've seen the stands alone bring $150.00 Good Luck, Bob Kovar
  23. Best Regards from Arild-are you in Sweden?
  24. Hello, We stock the needles in #14,16 & 18 & also have some #46 & 68 nylon thread too. Bob Kovar
  25. MikTigger, Have you checked how close the needle is to the shuttle?Do you know it's adjustable by using the screw above the screw that holds the needle in?You loosen it & it'll move left to right & it needs to be as close as you can get w/o touching, this allows you to adj f/different sizes of needles & thread comdos.
