Your right the 45K is a great machine to learn on & if your like my customers you'll really apreciate the new Cowboy when you get it. So you don't need this 133K just try to save your $$ for that new machine. Bob

It's a 133K3 if youlookup that # I'm sure you'll find something. It can sew about the same as a 45K only it can sew @ a higher speed if needed because it has a rotary hook, alotof parts are still available for it,but not the case f/45K It can sew maybe 3/8" or alittle more. Bob

These 17's are pretty good machines but the largest I've ever gotten them to sew wproperly is #138.I do have needles & thread in stock. Bob

Todd, It should be in the center of the groove & the feed dogs are made with either a round hole or an oblong one-the most common. So check to see if the screws are loose if not the you need to try to figure out what moved so does the feed dog come up & when it goes back & starts to go down is it the same distance or gap from the plate to the feed dog? Pfaff 1245 Knee Lift Parts (On The Back Of The Machine Head)
CowboyBob replied to dana's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
It looks like you figured out the problem the legs on a Pfaff knee lifter are longer & the finger that pushes against the lever on the machine has a roller on the end that lets it get all the lift that this machine has. Let me know if you interested in getting the correct knee lifter for it since we are a Pfaff Dealer. Bob -
The Singer 211 is a better machine for uph or canvas than leather do to the small flywheel that makes it harder to slow down. If you put a standard DC Servo on it you'll find you'll still be running to fast so then you'l have to add a speed reducer ok so now your over $225.00 I just wanted to let you know that we have a DC Servo with a builtin reducer that will slow your machine down w/o any problems for less $ and bolts up to the standard 3-hole standard mounting. If that machine will work for you it's about $100.00 more than they usually sell for,are you sure that's the machine you need?It won't use a thread larger than #138 & on Holsters like most leather sewing people want to use larger thread than that, not that it's needed for strength but larger thread really helps to sell your product beacuse it looks better.I'd say you need to use at least #207 or 277 to make them look right & there's no way this Tacsew can sew with it. I've seen quite a few of these over the years & USMC is one name that comes to me,I know there's others. They were made for just what you call it a hole puncher for any leather item that needed some holes, different sizes of dies were also available for different sizes of holes & shapes like round & oval. THe are also known as a perforator. I'm sure the company that made it is long gone so if you want dies or something you'll probably have to get them made. Bob

Hello, We have the parts you need for your 45K. Give us a call 1-866-362-7397 Bob
-
That's great you get it home & it sews, yes, the adjustment @ the top is for the takeup lever stroke for thin average & thick material. Have fun. Bob

I don't know what wonky means but if you want a tighter stitch it's the needle threadd that needs to be tightened & it will pull the bobbin thread up. Bob

Well I might as well put in my $.02 ,we have been selling these portable machines w/a walking foot to alot of inmates for sewing leather crafts,in alot of the prisons they aren't allowed to have a industrial machine w/a large table so these work for them they come in 7 & 9" arm length w/straight stich & zig-zag. They have a 1.5 amp motor vs a 1 amp motor on a reg home machine, they also have a cog tooth belts, like a timing belt on a car that doesn't slip. Along with a little speed reducer that give it the punching power. We even have an old machine (mini-walker)we use as a rental for people to sew upholstery with.Very easy to handle for them too! They aren't the greatest or smoothest machine I've ever ran BUT they get the job done @ a low price. Bob

#69 is the largest it can use,we do have a roller foot fot it along with leather point needles if needed. Bob

You might want to check & see if the loop opener has play in it,you need to check when it's in the position where it starts moving to the right. If it has play then it's not opening the loop soon enough. Bob

Hello & welcome to the site.If you really want to have a great time you need to go the the Show in Sheridan, there is so much there to see & do. My son & I will be there selling Cowboy sewing machines if you have a chance stop by . Bob

Wiz, I couldn't of said it better.Back in their day they were the machine to have but since parts are so hard to find,we only have # 27 needles in stock(that's all we can get)it just makes sense to buy a new machine for the same $$ & be able to get feet, needle plates & anything else you need. We do get 4-5 people a year wanting to trade them in on our New Cowboys & have to turn them down. The market is really shying away from the 97-10's Bob

Wow, what a great looking pair of seats. Got any pics of the bikes? Bob

Ken, I's like to add to what Art said, they are also a great chap machine. We stock alot of feet for them & have a teflon & a roller foot available for them along with all the parts in stock for it that you might need. We have alot of people still using these 31's. They are a good machine to have. Bob

Hello Johnny, Welcome to the board, sound like your doing a great thing keeping up with history like that. Bob

Welcome the the board,I think if all kids were Cub Scouts we'd sure have alot less problems with them as they grow up. My Son & I were both scouts & it sure was alot of fun. Bob

Years ago we used to extend the arms & make them 20" long,we would sell them for tarps & auto upholstery, but nowadays everyone thinks they need reverse(because their neighbor told them to make sure it has it) I have a real nice one here they are real good for nylon webbing too. I'd be real happy to find it a good home. Bob
