You could probably do some upholstery easier if you ground off one side of the foot so you could get closer to the needle.

I'm thinking the same the military would throw it away & since we are talking over 50 yrs since they've been made I really doubt you'll find anything.

I've never seen one because it wouldn't feed properly since only the top foot pulls the material.When your sewing upholstery you'll be sewing at least 4 plys of material & it'll shift with just the top feed.

I thought it might of been inverted but look @ the woman in the middle of the pic,if it was an inverted pic she should be on the otherside?? The handwheel on this machine is on the left?

That's very interesting pic because I've never seen a Singer 11 class left-handed before.They have the center handwheel on what is normally the back & even the walking foot parts are on the other side.

No,I don't think you want to strip it!! You need to fix it !! If you take the race off (it's held on by 2-screws) there's a screw on the back that holds a u-shaped spring & it holds a ring on,take it all apart & clean it,put it back together & see if the side play is better ,if not you need to buy a new race.Over here they sell for $20.00.Someone has adjusted the needlebar to take a longer needle,if you want the 16x2 to work loosen the set screw on the needlebar & lower it so the needle is just below point of the shuttle point as it passes by the needle as you turn the machine in the direction that it runs.

These are just like a 31-15 machine.you can use 16x2 leather points,or 16x257 round points.all the common parts interchange with 31-15.

We have a customer using the long-arm 2-machines w/o reverse & they have a foot pedal lifter they lift the foot & pull the tarp towards them while sewing.It sure wouldn't look pretty in leather though.

Darren,the problem with this model is Ferdco made some special parts for it & it's a needlefeed w/a jumpfoot that takes a special foot that only a Ferdco like this model takes.The more common parts aren't a problem I've ordered parts from Consew for people in the past, the machine it was modified from is the model 754R.

When your @ o-stitch length the feed dog needs to be centered (front to back) yours is too far back.

Here's a Singer 98-3,which is built similar to a 97 that was made for recapping tires (in 1915)

Yes,the 95-1 has that belt,there is someone making the belts now.I have seen them on ebay.

We had a customer buy a long-arm double needle with the hopes of using it as a single.I tried to explain to him how it would be awkward & hard to use BUT he thought the one machine would do both his single & double needle work.He even had Tennessee Attachment make some cording feet & zipper feet.The poor guy dumped a lot of $$ in this & then after about a year called back & let me know I was right.Then he wanted to sell it back to me because he's getting out of tarps & just doing upholstery work.I sent him a few people wanting it & I guess he finally sold it.

The 1000H are approx. 1/4" longer than the 97 needle so they can be shortened to work.We have some in stock in #26 & 28 & they only come in a round point.

Yes,Sir,I'm looking @ a box of 135x17 & that's what it says on it !!They used to be made in the Czech Republic until last year sometime,they seem to work OK !!

The Groz-Beckert's are made in India,Schmetz are still made in Germany we just got some 794S in that say it on the package(they have 4-15 date on the package).The leather needle we sell a lot of is the 794S which has a spade point on it that really makes a nice looking stitch in leather,I think looks better than the DIA point(which we also stock in Organ) which seems to make alittle wider hole on the sides than the "S" point.Some Organ needles are now made in Vietnam.

They must of had the belt marked wrong.All the 153's take the same belt & I just checked a #224195 we have in stock & it's 25 3/8" & has 41 teeth.The belt they sent you is for a postbed 168,138 machine. Uwe, Id say the parts list is wrong.The one you mentioned is for the 47W & would be shorter than what he needs,it only has 38 teeth.

pcox is correct the 188 has a narrow(standard) base,the 88 wide base.

I have a Pfaff & it looks a lot like it but the controls are different.I just took a guess on Durkopp because of the way the controls look on it.

It is similar to a 107w,143w machine but I think it's a Durkopp.Or maybe Adler machine.Singer never had the lever sticking out or had a zig-zag adjuster like that.

The bobbins 204370 were made for the other type of bobbincase that fits in the 136(see pic).They still will work with the style he has but will fit loose & can spin causing backlash.So you might want to put some felt in the bottom of where the bobbin sets.The bobbins he is using could of been made wrong.
