  1. Lookup timing belt change on Singer 111w155(same belt replacement) the top shaft does not have to come out, take the handwheel off, then loosen bearing screw in back & then loosen the 2-collar screws on the inside, take bearing off ,we cut the old belt off if it isn't broke, then insert the new belt through the gap where the bearing was.Put take up lever all the way up & lineup arrows on collar or dots on lower shaft & slide belt on.
  2. Thread fraying can be caused by a chewed up needle hole in the needle plate, the 1300 might be balling up because it isn't threaded correctly, not enough upper thread tension or the thread is too big for it,the 1300 is for sewing clothes not leather.
  3. Yes,the 1541 will sew awnings w/o any problems.
  4. What are you sewing that you need a heavier machine than the 1541? Like Greg said they will sew pretty heavy,There isn't much else like this that feet interchange with that will be reasonable other than a used 1541 which are kinda hard to find. The 1541 handwheel is alittle larger than the 206 making it easier to control in thick material too.
  5. Yes,the 1508,1541,206 & even old Singer 111w,211 feet interchange.
  6. The 1508 bobbin is only 1/8" larger than the 1541,the 226 is smaller & the Consew is the same size.Machines with bobbins that load underneath like the 206 & 1541 will have many parts & be very similar to sew with. The 1508 that loads from the top is easier to jam up if you aren't careful. It is best to stay with a similar machine if you plan on getting another one so your bobbins, threading & operation is pretty much the same. Also id you get spare parts like bobbins, bobbin cases & etc they will interchange.
  7. Don't forget to loosen the 2-screws on the collar on the inside & like the others have said u just might need a bigger hammer!
  8. there is a Juki DLU 450-4 w/a a top feed foot, the outside foot pulls back with the lower feed dog.It is good for thin leather 2-6oz total #46 or 69 thread. The foot is kinda wide for a lot of things too. Here's a pic of one we have.
  9. On any machne when it is looping on the bottom either your thread isn't threaded correctly OR the upper thread tension is too loose. It sounds like maybe it's too tight right now because you say when it goes all the way in the tension it breaks. That is where it IS supposed to be all the way in it.So maybe loosen it one turn, pull it all the way in & see what happens. See attached threading chart.
  10. The small bobbins are style#19
  11. You have to be careful some of these have a cloth timing belt that has been discontinued,it can be replaced with the newer rubber style BUT it'll cost close around $200.00 for the new belt pulleys & belt, labor is expensive too since the top shaft needs to be pulled out.
  12. I can't get it to cut & paste into this reply?? ,But if you go to consew.com & go to resources & go down to model #757R it is the same machine as yours. HTH Bob
  13. Try pushing the feed dog front to back to check for play if so,try to find the source.
  14. Hey Colt, keep up the great looking work there!!
  15. It could be some loose parts in the stitch length mechanism. When they are working & adjusted properly they are a very good & dependable machine. If someone has been playing with it & some of the adjustments are off THEN you'll call it a piece of junk.
  16. You need the 563,the 105 is for sewing lightweight stuff like drapes, shirts, dresses.
  17. Yes,but we can modify it for the 3200. Also when you use the slotted plate the stitch length will be shorter in reverse do to the missing feed dog.
  18. The needle plate from the larger machines can be made to fit on the 3200 by elongating the back screw hole(it's off about 1/2 of the hole)
  19. Guys, you have to remember what your dealing with here. The 3200 & 3500,4500 are all made for thicker leather using thicker thread, there is no one machine that does it all & does a good job w/o some effort on your part. The easiest way is make a wider seam(It would be a lot cheaper than throwing away a project)it's just a 1/4"or so material that you cut off when your done & burnish the edge after. Also if your doing alot of this lighter weight sewing a smaller machine might give more consistent results. I see some tempers flairing & I don't want to argue with anyone so please cooloff,we try to ask people before they buy one what all they plan on sewing & I always like to say these are bigger machines & they will sew lighter material but it's like driving a dumptruck to the grocery store you can do it but it won't work the best. Don't forget either that a smaller machine won't use the heavier thread & sew as thick as these either .It's the nature of the beast!!
  20. The leather must be soft enough that the tension of the bobbin thread is pulling it down when the feed dog is lowered & going forward. This is what the slotted plate is for thin & soft leather. You will need to take the feed dog of when you want to use it.
  21. Try a #22 needle,20 is too small. You also might need to tighten the foot pressure down more, this is the knob on the leftside on top of the machine.
  22. Good Luck & see you soon in Texas! Maybe we can arm wrestle!
  23. Try taking the bobbin out(so the thread is out of the way)unthread the needle too,put some oil all the way around the outer part of the bobbin case & it might loosen up w/o having to take it apart. You might need to take the belt off so you can rock the handwheel back & forth. When you first started did you hold onto the needle thread to get the bobbin thread through the feed dog ?
  24. Overseas shipping is approx.$650.00
