  1. You need to stop & start with the take up lever @ the top. This is the part you thread through & moves up & down while your sewing. If you stop the machine with it down the thread is still caught on the hook & you have 3-threads coming out.
  2. Hey,I don't know what else to say but THANKS for being such good customers.I hate to brag on them but these FS-550 are the best servo we've ever had. They are very controllable & very quiet too.
  3. The only difference I can see is the scarf is shorter on the 216x1 than the 214x1.
  4. The 111w155 is the newer one & will sew alittle heavier.
  5. If you have a metal pitman arm(the rod from the pedal to the lower pulley) ,they have ball bearings in them.
  6. You might have thread stuck in the bobbincase area, put some oil on it,all the way around the outside if the bobbincase,so it runs into the hook, then turn the machine back & forth to free it up.
  7. Nice pics, thanks for posting them,I like seeing that old stuff.
  8. James, Clutchmotors have a feature where you can turn the end & have the clutch arm any direction you want it,if you put a servo on your machine the mounting bracket needs to be horizontal instead of verticle like your is because the arm isn't adjustable on the servos. It probably wouldn't be to hard to make a different mounting bracket.
  9. Constabulary is right there is no way it will even come close to sewing 1" thick. The brand is Union Special,it looks like it might be a needlefeed machine, try searching for union special model# 61200,61300,61400,61900,63400,63900 it's one of these models. There should be a plate on the back with the model# on it.It should sew 1/4" ok.
  10. Ok,now I've seen a pic & have to tell you with that type of hook & bobbin case it is a light duty machine. You will probably be able to use #69 & maybe #92 but that would be it.
  11. If you want the stitch to look nice,I would use a leather point.
  12. The model# is on the oval tag on the front.Constabulary is right on about everything,it looks to have an air foot lift & also a needle postion motor,is the motor 3-phase?At least parts & a manual are easy to get for it.For a manual try 111w155
  13. When you thread your machine do you wrap around the lower tension(one in pic) 1 & 1/2 times? Also the arm you thread through is called a takeup lever & you always want to make sure it is @ the top when you start & stop sewing.
  14. Do a search for Alpha-Sew mini walker,Thompson mini walker,Sailrites are the same machine w/a different name & a much higher price tag do to their markup & promotion of it.They did develop a larger wheel for it that gives it alittle more power. They usually wion't handle thread larger than #92.
  15. They both are correct, keep the Juki feet & other accessories are a lot easier & lower priced for it because it is a very common machine.
  16. I've tried them on heavier leather & they won't sew it,they would make a great chap machine or lighter weight leather for purses & wallets. They have a walking foot, needlefeed that pulls it through pretty good.
  17. The feed dogs are different between them ,the needle plate from one won't even fasten to the other.
  18. Sorry I didn't see your posting earlier,it sounds like a great buy for a couple hundred.Keep it well oiled & it might last another 100 yrs.
  19. This machine is called a serger. It is used for finishing the edges of material. When you look @ ebay it seems like people call anything & everything a leather machine even little hame machines !! This one looks like a Chinese copy of a Singer 81 you might look one Singer site for threading info,it uses 3 spools.
  20. We hardly ever get a used heavy machine like this in.The few I picked up @ auction this summer were in a lot worse shape than I thought when I bought them & beyond repair so they went back to the auction.I'd know I would have nothing but trouble from them.
  21. Hey Colt,Your doing a great job there!Looks very professional.
  22. The only parts you can get are the needles, bobbins & shuttle.
  23. It has a foot that lifts up as the needle goes in the material & then comes down as the needle pulls out & then it swings back with the lower feed dog,it also should have a large heavy wheel & sews easy 1/2" thick.
  24. Yes,we have them but you will have to drill & tap 2-holes to mount it.There is no template either,so you have to line it up, hold it where it mounts & mark it & drill & tap.
