  1. I figured it had to be the one on Anderson when you referred to it as the Jockey Lot. That place has been there a looooong time. I have been there a thousand times I bet over the years. Used to be referred to as the South's largest flea market.
  2. It's been a while now since I have worked in one, but it seems like I used to see some workers carrying similar in the cotton mills. Maybe it was in the weave room. The south used to have tons of textile plants. Often referred to as cotton mills, amongst other names. It was funny to hear the jockey lot reference. Which one did you go to?
  3. Thanks for your insight. I will have to give the antique black another shot doing what you suggest. I was using it straight on. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
  4. Hey Josh. Did you use anything other that than antique black? Was it the paste? last time i used the black it came out more greenish hue, but I used the gel. Dang that rig is nice. I just had to say it again.
  5. That is so frickin' awesome. I want to make one of those so bad. It would also mean I would need to get a six shooter.
  6. Thanks for your response @fredk
  7. When one puts conchos on a belt or strap, what is the proper way to address the screw head on the back before lining? Is it worried about? is there a method to make it less noticeable through the lining? Just like to know what you fine folks do. Thanks, Bodean
  8. You may be referring to antiquing. Using Fiebing's antique gel or paste. There are videos on Youtube under Tandy Leather.
  9. Yep, "I Do"........ famous last words.
  10. If it were me I would go with a 3 piece plan. As far as leather if you are not gonna tool, I would probably go for a weathered look. There are lots of choices for prefinished hides. You could probably go with 3-4 ounce if you are not tooling. I ordered one from Frogjelly leather in Arlington that would probably fit that bill. http://www.frogjellyleather.com/ I ordered the Bastrop oil tanned side a few months back.
  11. Ever heard that water and oil dont mix? I think that may be what is going on here. If you insist on using water based dyes I wouldn't apply any oils to the leather prior to dying. Just my two cents. You did a lot of nice work. The dying process always gives me the heebee jeebees. Try a different process on scrap before you work on your final piece. Best of luck.
  12. That will be a cool project. I will be interested to see how it turns out. If you are gonna tool it, I would use a minimum of 5-6 ounce to keep the weight down as much as possible. of course I never made one so that is just my thought. You have me interested in making one now for my amps, lol.
